Quote from: Faelrin on October 22, 2024, 11:11:26 PMAh that's good to know. Next time I feel like grabbing a Mattel figure, etc from there I'll be sure to go through the store's link instead.

I'll grab the other third party links either later tonight or tomorrow (at least those with near retail price, and not insane after market prices). Quite a bit more out there in any case.

I've started to add the Mattel figures you suggested but it's taking a long time, I have to do them one by one. https://www.amazon.com/shop/dinotoyblog/list/2MJMPMR2AT72M?ref_=aipsflist

All Amazon links on the blog and forum are affiliate links, so any of those will work just as well as the store links. That's why I'm not sure there's much point in setting up the store, but I supposed it makes it simpler for readers to understand the affiliate relationship if the blog has an actual presence on Amazon.

I've finally added all your Mattel suggestions avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin , thanks! Now we'll see if anyone uses the store to actually buy anything! https://www.amazon.com/shop/dinotoyblog

I'll be honest, I usually won't, but only because it's.com It's way more expensive for me to order from the US. But if I do (occasionally there's something there worth the exchange and shipping) I'll go through the link

I'm a .ca affiliate, too. If I post a simple affiliate link to .com it may autodirect. Give it a try: https://amazon.com does it?

I just tried it and it works for .co.uk

So, after just over two weeks, the DTB Amazon Store received just 27 product clicks and zero sales, so I think we can safely chalk this up as a failed experiment! The direct Amazon links scattered on the blog and forum do yield the occasional affiliate sale, so I think I'll just rely on them when it comes to Amazon and forget about the 'store'.

Something else I have access to as an Amazon Affiliate is promo codes to share. I try to keep an eye on these but there are rarely any of relevance. The closest I could find at the moment is this one for 40% off of this 'Jurassic Park' magnetic kit, which won't be of much interest here: https://www.amazon.com/promocode/A12ACU0KHDZZHW?linkCode=pf4&linkId=z7b5638deb81af5805803e8dc94cfdez&_encoding=UTF-8&ref_=assoc_tag_ph_1524299038106&tag=dinotoyblog-store-20&creative=9325&camp=1789

But I'll keep my eyes peeled for more relevant promo codes to share.

Your mostly looking to attract parents to shop for their kids I think with most of the Amazon/dino sales. Black Friday is coming up though so maybe wait til then?  I'm looking for sales to stock our gift shop but haven't seen much yet.

Maybe, but I don't really think many parents will shop for their kids via the Dinosaur Toy Blog - they probably just go straight to the shops. Shops are always top billed on Google searches, usually sponsored. I think the DinoToyBlog audience are mostly adults buying for themselves. Indeed, about 50% of the sales I make through my affiliate links aren't even dinosaur related, and certainly aren't for kids. For example, in the past months or so I've received commissions for all sorts of things, from groceries and car parts, to razors and a dildo! I mean, I'll take the commission anyway, it's all good to me! That said, today someone bought some Transformers toys and a Safari Ltd Liopleurodon via the DinoToyBlog, and that's obviously down to our typical audience.

I mean the next time I go to order a Jurassic figure there, it would be nice that I could do it through your store's links, so you could get a little something out of it (especially what with how helpful your forum has been for me the past decade, you deserve something nice back). If only it was a thing sooner I mean.

Well, any Amazon link on the blog or forum will work just as well, they're all affiliate links. And it works for all Amazon products (within 24 hours), not just the linked item.

Same for eBay links for that matter.

That's what I meant, your looking to attract an audience that isn't normally part of this forum.

lol if it works it works!

I used to have the park on there as part of their Amazon Giving program until they decided to quit it. It wasn't a lot but it was something.

Yep, it's really simple, an easy way for forum members to support the blog and forum at no extra expense to themselves. Many of you have probably done it and not even realised it.
