It reminds me of the Yowie one, but more colorful. What a nice figure.

Hallucigenia sparsa Morris, 1977 by Trilobiti. It came from Italy and the figure broke in a couple places during transit. I put it back together ok but might need some touch-up painting. Note the base is not included with this figure; it was made for me as an apology for taking a while to process my order.

Evolution of our understanding of H. sparsa. Left to right:
1. COG Ltd.
2. Kaiyodo (Dinotales)
3. Favorite Co. Ltd. (Cambrian Creatures Mini Model - Burgess Shale)
4. Trilobiti

Beautiful hallucination. What I have pointed out many times in the forum is true. Figures of prehistoric animals made of resin (in this case of this Hallucigenia) and dinosaurs in general made of resin far exceed toy figures such as PVC, vinyl, to give a few examples.

Halichoeres

Wow, the Trilobiti model is smaller than I expected! Very nice but lots of slender pieces--I can see how it would easily break in transit.

The myriacantherpestes from Paleocasts is a wonderful figure, the base of a tree trunk seems to me, it looks great.

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres I was wondering where one could buy from them. I hope they will have more of those trilobites and the yellow Tullimonstrum in stock later since I can't afford to purchase them as of now (or any of those other things I'm behind on such as a new shelf/bookcase, and the Wild Past Protoceratops). I definitely bookmarked their page though.

trilobite, †Redlichia rex, new for CollectA 2020
An impressive sculpt, and a new/unique species! Figure measures 8.2 cm, fairly similar to the Bullyland trilobite

Faelrin

Good to hear it is at a similar size to the Bullyland one. Sounds like they will make for a great display together. The detail on the sculpt looks excellent too.

New arrivals today, the Anomalocaris canadensis and Olenoides serratus from the 2020 Takara Tomy A.R.T.S. set called, The Great Old Sea. They are articulated, and there is minimal assembly for the Anomalocaris. Not sure why I bought these, other than I am a completist for most arthropods identifiable at the genus or species level. These represent the first and third most commonly made extinct arthropods (Opabinia is probably second), and there are better examples on the market. Don't get me wrong, however, as I really like them. The third figure in the set was an (extant?) coelocanth.

I plan on reviewing the Amomalocaris for the Dino Toy Blog, and maybe the Olenoides, unless someone else really has the urge to.

Oh man I can't wait to get my hands on these. I didn't realize these released already too. They look great. How large are they? Also that's quite a beautiful diorama you have them on display with.

Edit: How did you get these?

Nice figures, I would like to buy those two figures are pretty well made prehistoric invertebrates.

Hi avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin - I submitted my Blog review of the Anomalocaris a couple days ago, so it should be up soon, but the Anomalocaris is 9.5 cm long. I am at work now but I'll measure the Olenoides later.

The diorama I use for photographs but not long-term display LOL. I bought it on YAJ with Brett's help (I have a couple other habitats, too).

P.S. I got these through a Canadian eBay dealer; Japan Post is shipping to Canada now.

B @bmathison1972 Thanks for the measurement. Sounds like it may be bigger then the Safari Ltd Anomalocaris, give or take. I'm eager to see the review of the Anomalocaris too.

And ah okay so that's how you got them. I asked avatar_brettnj @brettnj to preorder these for me back when they were revealed. Granted I've been wondering if/when shipping resumes to the US. Could be a while before I were to see these (though still waiting to pay for them first). Have some other stuff (such as the Favorite Diplodocus soft model and Cambrian set) I've ordered with him, and paid now, that should be on its way once if/when shipping resumes here (edit: in the US). At the very least I can be patient. After all with the Favorite Cambrian set I've only waited since 2016 to get my hands on it, but kept pushing it aside for other things (same applies to the Colorata Paleozoic set too). I think once I finally do have my hands on all of that, a comparison with all my other prehistoric invertebrates (Safari Ltd, Bullyland, etc) would be a good idea.  I also have some Kaiyodo's I asked to order from him, that I'm planning on paying next month for too, some that are invertebrates (such as Pterygotus, Meganeura, etc). It's honestly about time I get some more Paleozoic (and prehistoric invertebrates) in my collection, because that interests me just about as much as Mesozoic life does.

On that note I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Life game kickstarter here too. If that can get successfully funded in time, that would open the doors to a plethora of taxa that currently lack representation and particularly from the Ordovician and Silurian periods that have extremely poor representation as it is currently. Lots of trilobites, dinocaridids, lobopodians, and eurypterids, etc. Even some prehistoric crinoids, sponges, and corals were made, things that have very few or no representation as it is.

FYI, my original source has not informed me of Japan's post office shipping to the US, Israel, and Australia where we need outstanding orders to go, but my new source just indicated that he thinks shipping just resumed.

I'll update ASAP.

Thanks for the mention.

bmathison1972

I have temporarily suspended Brett's services for routine new things, but only because of the shipping. And it is not because of patience, it is because I currently have over $400.00 USD of figures sitting in Japan (which I have paid for), and I have no idea when I'll be getting them. And, I don't want another couple hundred dollars to start to pile up over time with no ETA on arrival. Once shipping resumes, I'll use Brett more frequently (sorry Brett :) ).

Today I received the 2020 horseshoe crab by CollectA. The figure is not marketed at the species level. Although it was sold in their prehistoric line, and it may have been modeled after an extinct species, morphologically it is consistent with the Atlantic horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus:

1. the telson is shorter than the prosoma + opisthosoma
2. the shape of the carapace (prosoma), being evenly rounded
3. the armature on the carapace
4. the flaps that cover the book gills have a pair of terminal flaps

The figure is 16.2 cm long and only very slightly smaller than the Safari Ltd figure

B @bmathison1972 My congratulations on your new acquired invertebrate figure.
The figure is super attractive. Honestly, that figure is very precise and I am counting the days to obtain those primitive invertebrates from Collecta. Fortunately, the horseshoe cangreso still survives today. Magnificent collectible figure.

Once the "Life: Evolution..." game hits production, we're going to need to subdivide this thread.
