On Youtube, there are some nice videos of scientists showing their desks and studies, for example the great E.O. Wilson:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kebv3kgImIM

Wouldn´t it be nice to share our own desktop pics and / or videos here? What do your desks look like at the moment? Do you have studies? Does your PC stand in your kitchen? Where do you do most of your work?
Here are some pictures "behind the scenes" of the room where I write my posts, reviews and much more for my job and side job.

An old schoolcard from the GDR and my electric guitar.

Basically I have got two desks standing next to each other. One is for reading and relaxing, the one with the Laptop for work. Chewie reminds me to take my duties seriously. Lemmy reminds me of relaxing and taking things easy. :)

I have an old cabinet crammed with stuff. Drums, an Ukulele, fossils, replicas, dinosaur figures, books.

This is my stimulating surrounding for my work.

Kayakasaurus

Neat space and great idea!  :)

Here's the table I've been working at for a year. We used to be able to eat here.. Currently it's 100% taken. This is what it looks like when I'm not mold making  :).

Very nice topic, am curious about all the members' places. Will add some pics too, but my current screen-and-4-watt-energy-saver-lamp-illumination at this late hour won't allow for distinguishable pics (yes, I heard of "flashs", but that's no option :D)

@Libraraptor: So, no collection in view of the desk?

@Kayakasaurus: Quite some talent in sculpting there, great models!

Lanthanotus

So, here's my workplace and it's surroundings...

... two years ago I had to clear my room to make way for my son's room, so my desk had to be resized, that's why the screen is so crammed into the corner (and hell, I hope it does'nt brake as they are incredibly hard to find in this size and format nowadays). The desk library contains mostly literature about varanoid lizards as this is my main interest.

Despite the minor workspace I do all my stuff here, drawing, sculpting, painting, papermodelling, preparing skulls etc.. That's why it has be "tidied up" ....

... all the materials are stored in the small drawer in my back and you don't wont to look in there :D. The big tank in my back houses a pair of black tree monitors....

... and the one next to my desk a roughneck monitor (the small tank above my desk is occasionally housed by tree monitor hatchlings).

Libraraptor

So from your desk you can look directly into the terrarium? That´s cool! And I also love space crammed with books a.s.o.
And hey, Kayakasaurus: That is quite a tidy workplace!
That´s the way I thought this thread would develop! Let´s see where other members work and how their desks look like!

Gwangi

Another great idea from Libraraptor. Great "studies" everyone. I'll post mine tomorrow when it's daylight and I can take proper pictures.

Great idea for a topic! I will contribute eventually...

My uh... work space(?). Shared work space so it's not entirely my mess.

I watch a lot of DVDs on my computer.

When I do something creative, I cover the mouse and keyboard with a sheet. All my art equipment is shelfed away right now

On the top shelf with that large sauropod, what is the model out in front...looks like a large pachy or perhaps might be a psittacosaurid? guessing pachy though?
Authors with varying competence have suggested dinosaurs disappeared because of meteorites...God's will, raids by little green hunters in flying saucers, lack of standing room in Noah's Ark, and palaeoweltschmerz—Glenn Jepsen

Everyone's workspaces are so tidy, I'll be ashamed to share mine!

tyrantqueen's right, it's one of those fabulous papercraft models by netherland artist John Scherft. It's on my review list aswell as his incredible (despite featherless ;)) Deinonychus.

Tidy? MY workplace? You did not look right, I guess  ^-^ So go ahead, don´t be ashamed, I´m curious!  :))

laticauda

My desk at work is boring, nothing more than a a few posters, pictures of the family, paper work, and my little chomper mosasaur.  As for at home, I used to share the spare bedroom with my wife, and had my collection displayed with a table to draw, paint, well do everything at, than I had kids.  Now I am in a little corner of the basement, and it is a mess.

Gwangi

Here ya go! Nothing dinosaur related I'm afraid, except for a duck decoy, stuffed hawk, and some feathers and skulls on the shelf.

Libraraptor

That´s a cozy place, Gwangi!

Jetoar

Your desktops are awesome and beautifuls  ^-^.
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

Cool workspaces, everyone! Gwangi, I like the little shelf built into your wall there.

Here's the cluttered little space I've got at work:

Not very dinosaurian at the moment, but the management has a habit of moving people around to different offices a few times a year. It's wise not to get too carried away with the decor.

Gwangi

Yeah, I was excited to see that shelf built in there when I bought the place. I knew books and DVDs wouldn't fit but that it would make a great curiosity cabinet. There's a lot of stuff crammed in there. With my daughter on the verge of crawling though I wonder if it will be a practical place for that stuff long term. Might have to put a door on it.
