I really liked the first volume (The Early Cretaceous) of this series, especially for the layout and the illustrations,
so I'm happy to see that there's another volume (The Late Jurassic) going to be released later this year :).

If I had children, these would definitely be the books I'd give them.
Well, I don't - so I get them for me, I'm still a child having a huge predilection for beautifully drawn Dinosaurs.

Ah yes, the Ancient Earth Journal. I can see it from where I'm typing right now, sitting on my shelf. It is an awesome book that helped me learn to draw sauropods much better! I can't wait to get the second, It looks just as good.  :D

I do have children, yet I´m still a child myself in some aspects :D I like these journals, too, they look promising.

Oh, those look good.

And I wonder: What are the chances of those ever seeing release in Germany? ( Given that Children's books have a better chance than serious books ) I think it would be nice to see some beautifully illustated Dinosaur books in stores again.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

I can post some pictures of the inside on here if you guys want to see.

I don't think we will see them in German stores, but you can easily order them through Amazon.de.
Fortunately they're not expensive.

I know. I actually meant in translated form, as was common in the 90s and for ( mostly bad ) children's books still happens now.

While not neccesary, I think it still would be nice.

I got the new volume now and it's just as beautiful as the first one is.
Now I can't wait for The Early Jurassic and The Late Cretaceous :).

Mine arrived recently too.  I really hope the series continues.  The pictures are beautiful, most of the illustrations being in a lovely subtle colour palette.  A shame that "pteroid" came out twice as "pteriod" on p. 100-101, and "saurischian" became "sauriscian" on. p. 76, but these are minor copy-editing quibbles.  I thoroughly enjoyed leafing through the book.  An inspired touch is the new scheme for the endpapers - instead of being plain coloured paper, they are now patterned like scales.

Stuckasaurus (Dino Dad Reviews)

I bought The Early Cretaceous a while back for the express purpose of donating to my local library since most of their children's dinosaur books were woefully out of date. When I checked back a month later, it was nowhere to be found. I asked up at the desk, and they said "Oh, somebody probably decided we already had too many kid's books." UMM, yeah, and they were all crap, that was the point! UGH. I'm not donating to them again unless I talk to everybody involved in the stocking process. Oh well.

I'm excited for The Early Jurassic! What sort of stuff does it cover? (Morrison at least, judging by the Ceratosaurus on the cover.) Juan Carlos Alsono had preview images available for a while before the first book came out, giving the reader some idea of what it covered, but he hasn't updated it with any images from the new book, or indeed even mentioned that it exists. http://juancarlos-alonso.squarespace.com/

Well, that sucks. One would think a library would be happy about new books and get rid off some old ones instead.

I would be glad, if it won't trouble you much. Sadly, only way for me to get the book ordering from internet and the pictures would be useful to decide whether to buy the book or not.

I love these books! I had the First book for about a year and saw the latest, Late Jurrasic, was just released. I received it 2 days ago and it is just as beautiful. Though, I did notice one error. They labeled Apatosaurus Louisae as Brontosaurus Louisae. I know Brontosaurus is a valid name again but I thought it was B. Ajax and B. Excelsus? The book does acknowledge that it was called Apatosaurus Louisae, but I think they got the species wrong or am I mistaken?
Anyway, wonderfully illustrated books, I hope they do a Late Cretaceous edition too with Tyrannosaurus Rex, Carcharodontosaurus, Spinosaurus, Giganotosaurus, Velociraptor, Acheroraptor, Triceratops, Protoceratops,  Alamosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Andesaurus, Edmontosaurus, Quetzalcoatlus, ect.

Well, saw this on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.de/gro%C3%9Fe-Buch-Dinosaurier-Carlos-Alonso/dp/378862180X
Seems like it is getting a German releast. Judging by the page count this will include the first two books in the series.
"Das große Buch der Dinosaurier" translates into "The Big/Great Book of Dinosaurs" and is a pretty generic title.

Also seems like there will be more volumes:
https://www.amazon.de/s/ref=sr_nr_n_1?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A1323099031%2Ck%3Aancient+earth+journal&keywords=ancient+earth+journal&ie=UTF8&qid=1494100159&rnid=1703609031
Or the known ones split into smaller sections...

All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me

And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend

ceratopsian

Judging by the page count and the sauropod image on the cover (which appears in the current book), it's the existing Early Cretaceous book broken down into sections, e.g. Sauropods.
