I have been on the old DTF since July of 2010, but many people may not remember me, because of how little I posted.

Ikessauro

Hi guys, I'm Ikessauro, my real name is Patrick. I think I'm the only really active Brazilian member on DTF, joined v.1 on September 2008. After a shy start, got to know everyone and became an ultimate member, but didn't post that much (741 posts on v.1).

I'm not a paleontogist, but I've decided to study biology next year, as it's my passion since I was a kid, specially the zoology part. I work as a language teacher in Brazil, and using DTF helps me a lot to improve my English skills. I started collecting dinos about 8 years ago, but it only got serious (and expensive) after I discovered DTF...  ::)

Sumo

Well, well, well...
That's what I get for not checkin in a while! I came over and went "hey, where's all the... stuff?", took me a while to realize what had happened. Glad the old one's archived - I have a lot of catching up to do!
Anyway, will introduce myself properly at some point in the future. Congrats on the new forum everybody!  ;D

Thanks Sumo. Must have been like entering a ghost town, tumbling tumble weed and all.

My quest to learn the origin of turtles involves studying about tetrapod phylogeny. I am retired from teaching high school biology. I have been collecting figures about 10 years, mostly Triassic and earlier.

This is a really strange feeling, introducing oneself to a "new" forum of which one was a long-time member. And still I´m mourning a little leaving the old forum. But I do understand that moving here was overdue. There were so many obsolete threads, the layout was not that fresh anymore and so on. I´m still happy to have you all around here, ladies and gentleman, for collecting dinosaurs is  a strange hobby that demands worldwide networking. Still I´m about to figure out how moving collection threads a.s.o. works. Or I even start up a very new collection thread, seizing the chance of a new beginning for a new collection thread as well.
For those who don´t know me yet or didn´t know me in version 1.0: I´m Libraraptor, 34 years old, married, father of a son and a daughter, and I´m proud to be a moderator, whenever my time allows it.  Feeding the baby, supporting my wife, caring for the older, sometimes envious daughter, caring for the house, a psychologically challenging job, changing pampers, work, it´s pretty much at the moment).  But you can be sure over all this I have not lost my passion for dinosaur figures, mostly, as many of you know, monochrome plastic ones such as Invicta (first love), Marx or Kleinwelka for example.
Let´s boldly enter the new DTF era!

Hello,
Female from the USA here  :)  I joined the old forum in May of 2009.
I started collecting dinosaurs when I was very young (mostly JP stuff and safaris), but stopped when I became a teenager. In early 2009 after graduated college and moving out on my own, I bought a few Papo's to decorate my empty shelves. That Christmas I bought a set of battats and prehistoric safari mammals from eBay, and I have been on a downward spiral ever since. My tiny apartment is now filled with a few hundred dinosaur toys which I have acquired over the past 2 years. I have a great love of vintage figures and monochrome figures. In my spare time I like to play around with clay and wire and pretend to be sculpting dinosaurs.
My living room smells like old plastic dinosaur toys... Better than air freshener!

Dyscrasia

Hello.

I'm just a boring guy from the pits of hell a.k.a. South Korea, but was born in the States (and spent my childhood there).

I've been a big dinosaur fan since I was a toddler, and I'm also into weird, grotesque artwork and extreme metal music (although I do enjoy rock/metal music in general).

Currently, I'm a Ph.D. candidate majoring in analytical materials science/vertebrate paleontology (unfortunately, I don't know much from both subject matters), and I spend a lot of time and $$$ on dinosaurs/animals/alien figures and music CDs.....

I have a slightly big(?) family (I have four younger sisters), and our family had a variety of pets (ranging from Stag beetles to some kind of monkey) but currently, we only have 4 Society finches left..

Anyways, it's great to meet you dinosaur fanatics from around the globe, and long live DTB/DTF!

Tylo is also here locked and loaded, well if I had my Dino-Rider's amour and Ion Torpedo's, in my dreams rofl.
But yeah new place looks sweet also that we have a home page was that the major reason? The old placed seemed to have been okay forum wise right?

Totoro

Hi everyone!  I also was away for a while and then kind of stumbled around at the old location before seeing Dinotoyforum's thoughtful message about the new digs.  Nice work on the smooth transition!  Happy to find you all here, doing well.   ;D

I'm Curt, from Portland, OR, USA.

Tylosaurus

Well I joined the old DTF on September 21 , 2010 @ 17:23 PM as you can see here:
http://dinotoyforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=viewprofile

Due to that a good friend of mine which was owner of the Dino-Riders forums, he advised me to join that place and so far it's the best move I ever made!

Many thanks to the crew of the Dinosaur Toy Forum for making this place as great as the last and for giving use Dino-Riders Fans a place too, you get all my respects!

As for this new place I also made a new Signature, cut it from one of my DR display photo's  8)

Horridus

Hey, where are you from, Tylo? Country will do if you don't want to be too specific. Just curious...

The Netherlands to be specific :) The town I live in is called Dirksland, which is located on the island Goeree Overflakkee, which is from Zuid Holland and not Zeeland as many people mistakenly pronounce my province xD  8)

The Dutch Delta Works isn't far away, like this man made dam named the Grevelingen Dam.

The Grevelingen Dam, southerly direction:

Here panning to the other side towards the northerly direction, as I was standing in the middle of it:

Here an overview of the North Sea from The Grevenlingen Dam:

You can see the dam bend southwards to the right the next Island can also be seen in the far distance, the length of this Dam is about 25 KM, all these beaches are also man made.

These big dams were made after the 1953 Dam break Accident which flooded all the islands of South holland and entire Zeeland which cost 10's of 1000's of lives.
Neither is the 5KM long Zeeland Bridge, which is this one :)

mnemosaurus

I am another Dutch DTF veteran  ;) (and for Tylo's info: originallly from the Hoeksche Waard, which is also Zuid-Holland instead of Zeeland)

I am still a bit overwhelmed with the whole change of forum - but I must say this one looks so much better than the old forum! However, I am also actually moving to another house (with garden!!! ;D) next month, so this is perhaps a little too much for me to handle  ;) I promise to make new collection photo's after we have completely settled at the new place - I hope to find a nice display case for my favourite retro dinosaurs (Starlux, Kleinwelka, Invicta, Sinclair etc.), to shine in the new living room.

Tylosaurus

hah feli man met je nieuwe huus!

Dutch for grats man with your new crib  ;D Maybe we should have a meet and greet some day :P Great to see another South Dutchman in here

It feels good to back to my old hobby and man there is so much to learn from this place, I even wonder how many new species were found since 1995 and how many Mysteries such as Deinocheirus were solved, rofl, I think I missed out a mega lot heh.

I'd even wonder how the Deincheirus mystery was solved heh, that was in my records one of the most complicated ones to solve heh, all they found were these two massive arms:

Which lead to this replica with all the parts intact:

But hey that was it, along side these massive arms they also found a few rib bones, same story with the more incomplete Therizinosaurus which had longer claws, the main thing is, how on earth did they find out how they would look like by only having their forelimbs and when was this discovery made?  :o

Anyways this mystery still bugs me haha oh dears!

SCIENCE! ;D

Well, apparently some new material was found at some point, plus comparative anatomy has come a long way.

Well I'd just like to know what symptoms within the Science that got them to that conclusion, maybe I should make a new topic of this, it really interests me a big lot :)

Nobs

I am an early member of the original DTF

Joined Jan 28, 2008.  However I am a lurker, after 4 years I only had 266 posts.  I do visit the site daily though and I belive this is the best source for dino-toy news and info.
