As intriguing as this is it doesn't give us anything new to work with in regards to potential bird intelligence since (as the abstract itself commented) corvids already out-compete primates on both the practical logic and lingual tests. It does however present an interesting potential argument for cetacean intelligence. Often written off as "somewhere close to but not quite on par with great apes" due to difficulty of testing and a fair amount of brain mass being seemingly dedicated to insulation, but this throws a wrench into half of that justification. I'm curious to see where this study may lead.
