Hi everyone,

I'm pleased to announce a new blog that will help people get acquainted with my work, life, art and words. I have come to the conclusion that people know what Age of Reptiles is but don't really know much about the idiot behind the stories, and so I've begun posting images from other films that I've worked on as well as dino stuff.

Please check out my blog at: http://ricardodelgadoart.blogspot.com/

Regardless, I hope you're all well.

Sincerely,

Ricardo

WOW! ive been a fan ever since i read a feature about you and your work in Prehistoric Times.
"you know you have a lot of prehistoric figures if you have at least twenty items per page of the prehistoric/dinosaur section on ebay." - anon.

Hey bud ! Glad you found the new forums ! ;D

I had never seen that Nanotyrannus piece for before..is the eye really angled like that you think ?

Is your website still under construction ? I haven't checked in a few months.

Can't wait for AoR : Ancient Egyptians to be released ! ;D

rfdelgado

Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate them, if not your taste in artists, lol. Working hard on Ancient Egyptians, and you might see some work from that series posted on the blog in the near future.

lol! You put yourself down too much I think at times.. it's good to have a healthy ego. ;) Your work, AoR in particular was a big influence on me growing up and you can see it reflected in my drawn art. heh :)

Sweet ! I'll definitely  keep an eye out for it.  Feel free to post more Dino-related art.. lol ;D

Did you ever get those portfolios or prints available for sale ?  I really need a big framed one..  :))

Sharptooth

Can't wait for your upcoming Masterpieces, Mr. Delgado!

Recently i managed to read "The Journey" (sadly here in Italy AoR isn't published  :-\) and wow, what a story, Epic in the truest meaning of the term  8)

Added to my blog reading list, thank you!

I couldn't add much more than what others have already said about your work, both here and on V. 1.  Besides, I get terribly shy in front of big name artists.  ;)

Hey, some very nice words here, probably more reserved for artists of far better caliber, but I appreciate them anyway. Many thanks.

I'll post a page-in-progress for Ancient Egyptians on the blog if I can think of it tomorrow.

Great ! ;D

I'm also fond of your concept pieces and character sheets..if they aren't too spoiler-ish I would love to see those. :)

Did you ever do an Allosaurus print or for the calender ?

rfdelgado

Okay. I'll post the character sheets for The Body later today.

I did do an Allosaurus for the inside cover of the calender, but thinking of doing a print of one. Any other suggestions? I'm totally open to them,

Allosaurus is my favorite dinosaur so I would have to have one. ;D Needless to say I LOVED AoR: The Hunt ;)

You mean species ?  Hmm... how about Suchomimus ? He's a bit of an underdog to Spinosaurus..but easily my 2nd favorite dino.  Marine reptiles are quite popular..if your not sick of drawing them after The Journey..lol    Maybe a pterosaur piece ?  Giganotosaurus or Charcharodontosaurus would be popular.  So many to choose from really.  Maybe a piece or two that is reminiscent of your previous stories ?  For example, a scene with tyrannosaurs and dromeosaurs with a bit of tension between them.  I love art with a hint of a story behind it..usually found in the details or expressions..something you excel at my friend.  ;)

I like color for the Acros quite a bit..and I can't believe no has painted up a dromeosaur in wild dog colors before ! I'm tempted to grab a model and go for it right now.. ;)

You know your work like this :

Is why I feel the need to add EVERY SINGLE DETAIL to my own work..lol Time consuming..but so cool ! :)

Any chance The Body will be stuck into the next AoR graphic novel ? It would be cool to have it together in a book with related material for reading.

P.S. I tried commenting on your blog pages but I always received an error message ? No worries though, I can post here. :)

rfdelgado

Thanks Blade,

Okay, a pretty dense posting on the color process for Age of Reptiles.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Any chance you get those prints made you could..you know..sign them ?  ;D

I think you can still order the body from Dark horse. It's in Dark Hrse presents. Geof Darrrow's on the cover, a friend of mine. You can comment here all you like, sure.

Oh yeah, I have it in DHP, just wondering if it will be included in a graphic novel collection later. Those are a bit easier to carry and read than stand alone issues. ;)

rfdelgado

I've been told that the Body would be part of any future collection. I just wish I wasn't so darn slow.

Cool.

There is slow enough and there is is too slow .. ;) As fans we want everything as fast as possible but it's important to let an artist work as well and not push them too much.   What I think helps keep interest is posting progress reports and teasers to appease fans for a bit.

This being a dinosaur TOY forum..have you ever considered making some small figures based on your stories ?  I know Dark Horse has done some figures for others before.  They wouldn't need be huge figures either.  It would be really cool to display a Rex and Deinonychus pack from Tribal Warfare, an Allosaurus and Cerato for the Hunt ...especially a Rex and Mosasaur from The Journey ..even the little sauropod ( maybe riding a carcass ? lol ) would be cool. :)

Titanosaur

Ever since i first saw The Journey I've been hooked. I ordered Omnibus as soon as it came out.

The Journey is my favorite comic so far(the Titanosaurs are my favorite characters) and I'm also liking the new one you are in the process of making. I just hope Astrodon makes an appearance or some sort of sauropod......

rfdelgado

Yeah there's some sauropods. I'll try and post a page in progress this weekend on my stupid blog.
