Yes, it makes a nice Retrosaur, just like their Therizinosaurus makes a nice Kaiju.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Acrocanthosaurus looks bad... but I'll have to get it since its an Acrocanthosaurus. (at least they put the neck spines on it, unlike CollectA)

The CollectA version still beats the tar out of this monstrosity.

Oh definitely, I just thought I'd point it out. ;)
I am the Dinosaur King!

Thanks for the pics Gwangi!
- Acrocanthosaurus: Rain read my mind, he looks like Zilla. There are much better models like Safari and  Papo. But its not the worst Acro I saw.
- Kentrosaurus: Probably this will be like the other T-rex, both will be in the market. Its me or they missed to paint the eye?
- The skull looks cool, it reminds me to a giant bones for a graveyard. But its not my priority.

I imagined we would get some releases in mid year, like 2016 when we get barapasaurus and the other dinosaurs. Maybe 2018 will be cretaceous. Maybe a resculpt for Triceratops, Saichania and Parasaurolophus? Remember this year Schleich retired Triceratops and Quetzalcoatlus

It's kinda hard to not beat the Schleich Acro. Oh wait, this thing is worse:

Yes, that is likely.

As for looks...let's compare

I think it looks more like a generic Retrosaur rather than Gwangi.

I have to be sincere first and apologize if I offend some member of the forum follower Schleich. Schleich acrocanthosaurus from my realistic point of view is very ugly I do not think any child likes that figure, is a hybrid of ouranosaurus Of the same factory and allosaurus that occurred if I am not mistaken in identical dates to the ouranosaurus of the Museum Humbolt and with that I do not want to underestimate to Scheich but the opposite that awakens of its eternal lethargy.

The legs are huge, clown feet hooves. Its tail is like a kangaroo's. His head huge and ill-made, disproportionate arms, I have seen the photos and can say that it is an acrocanthosaurus but could honestly pass for a sci-fi movie figure. I had a hard time thinking that this figure represents an acrocanthosaurus I thought at first sight that it was a kind of dinosaur mapusaurus type Schleich.

As far as kentrosaurus is concerned, at least I have made a second version of their successful figure that I have on my shelves preferably. But I do not perceive in his image his head well, ie the eyes, olfactory organs and ears. I do not see correctly the head I think his eyes are closed is perhaps an appreciation of mine which I would not dislike but rather would celebrate would be one of the few figures of dinosaur figures of toy alive with eyes closed.

The skull is seen inside it fits well but the velociraptor is the faint representation of the same figure. I honestly do not buy myself a skull of such characteristics so great and therefore occupy a lot of space, because of its huge size and I would have my reluctance to buy it with the velociraptor there represented that I honestly do not like anything.

The figures as always and unfortunately are poorly detailed and their texture when touching them is always rough and tending to abrasions more pronounced than other dinosaur companies and with it I do not want to demonize the company but it is the truth, I do not want to be hypocritical.

As I see it is expected, I understand that Schleich could be a great company like Safari, Collecta, Favorite, Battat, Papo or even Rebor and Mojo but we fail in the realization of his figures almost without exception year after year not only the Collectors who obviously and logically for them are the least important but also the majority of children. Being sincere (and until I see more pictures of Schleich's kentrosaurus again I do not like the figures of Schleich for the umpteenth time has failed us, although to deceive those figures unfortunately only serve for the entertainment of the little ones. I make these judgments with all due respect for Schleich, but his company in its commercial policy and the making of toy dinosaurs does not convince me.  :(

Large skull trap with Velociraptor
Seems like the Compy and a lizard are included, too.

I don't see any photos of the lizard, but if 2017 is anything like 2016, it'll be the best figure they release all year.

I can see the appeal of the Acro to retro collectors or various flavors of completists, but...I think I'll be able to resist the temptation.

But not as bad as CollectA's Ouranosaurus. The postcranial occipitals are super inaccurate. I never thought I'd say this, but BOO CollectA!

Not sure what you mean. That's the most accurate hat I've ever seen on a dinosaur. Seriously though, how does a listing like that come into existence?

Thanks for that. So yeah, probably the best thing in their Dinosaurs line. But of no interest to me personally.

I am sensing repaint and diorama potential for this figure...as long as one likes retrosaurs!

Silvanusaurus

Doesn't look much like Gwangi to me, I love Gwangi, if that thing actually looked like Gwangi I'd be all over it. (for reference, see: any image of Gwangi) It's certainly retro, but to me it lacks any of the desired naive charm that label often implies.

Dinomike

These new offerings from Schleich keep me very puzzled. Why on earth did they make a new poorer version of the really good Kentro? To match it with the new bad ones? Was it maybe too good that it put all the other dinosaurs in their line to shame? And that Acrocanthosaurus....have they perhaps looked at all what CollectA, Rebor and Papo have to offer? Oh man...I'm out of words!

Holy *@#∞!

That´s the most godawful Acrocanthosaurs I have ever seen.
Seriously just go to the Papo new for 2017 and you will see what is an Acrocanthosaurus.

I would take the half feathered raptors and the orange Giganotosaurus over those any day. And that´s saying a lot.

To think that it's so hard to find Safari or CollectA dinosaurs being sold in stores, but this monstrosity will be available all over. It feels like a crime against science and aesthetics.

Agree.

stargatedalek

I think it's a huge improvement for Schleich, if only because it looks like it was bad/antiquated on purpose, rather than a poorly designed demonic crayon possessing the vague concept of a dinosaur.
