It must suck to be a character in the Jurassic Park movie series,(storyline wise)...Imagine barely making it off the island once, getting tricked and manipulated to go to another, bigger island without fences this time around, barely making off this one too...
Then after years of actively AVOIDING these islands, cloned dinosaurs become so widespread they practically end up in your own back yard! Poor Ian Malcolm... ;D

..or Alan Grant who is probably, as he said, " out of a job"  lol

I find it interesting when people get so worked up about a movie's potential plot.

For the accuracy issues, I've settled with the fact that that's just what the characters look like.  I think we need to stop hoping for more accurate dinosaurs in the JP franchise, just like we wouldn't expect more accurate dinosaurs in the Land Before Time franchise.  I'm thinking it's more likely to have a great standalone film with accurate prehistoric critters, perhaps even the start of a new franchise at some point.  But that may take a while.  In the meantime, I'm happy to enjoy the JP for what it is and what it has to offer.

I'm waiting until we have more trailers before I decide if it'll be worth seeing in theaters.  JW was entertaining as long as you turned your brain off for a couple of hours.  Plot holes and dumb common-sense sinks abound (ahem, using the giant, slow door I-rex can fit through, or lack of basic safety measures zoos use on a regular basis), not to mention cardboard characters that we don't really care about...but for simple popcorn-munching entertainment it certainly does the job.  I enjoyed it, and can certainly watch it again despite it's flaws.

So long as this next installment does the same, I'll be entertained and possibly enjoy the movie.  I even enjoyed James Cameron's Avatar because of how much eye candy was in the movie.  But maybe my expectations have just gone so far down...

I find myself turning more and more to older, classic, well written movies, then watch things like Jurassic World when the mood for a loud, flashy, brainless entertainment with cool critters strikes.  Since I don't really think of JP dinosaurs as dinosaurs, and I have no hope of any attempt for accuracy (aside from a mention on how innacurate they are), then I'm game for pretty much anything.

I just hope they don't try too hard to have some sort of meaningful message.  Just stick to a brainless summer blockbuster and they should be fine.  I'm actually curious to see what they would do if they go all out with the hybrids. :D

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM---leaked photos show the sequel's animatronic Tyrannosaurus.

CityRaptor

Well, looks like Rexy is back...and looks closer to her old self again.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Faelrin

Well am I glad to see Rexy is back again. It looks a little different then the original animatronic, though I suppose that's to be expected with the 20+ years that she would have aged canonically, along with the fact it's no longer the original team working on it. Either way I think it's turning out great. I am wondering if the cage seen here that "she" is in will be in the film (like the ones shown before with the Triceratops and Stegosaurus leaks), probably to be used to rescue her from the island from the possible volcanic eruption, assuming that is the plot. Either way, I think this is turning out to be interesting so far. Hope I won't be disappointed with this film.

hmmm i'm glad to see her back but i was hoping to see improved effects.  they say the change is due to her age?  i've seen Tyrannosaurus Rex that were old , design-wise,  but this looks off to me a bit somehow.

i guess they did do a great job of making her look like the cg version :

We don't even have a trailer yet, let alone the film. There could very well be more scenes with them.

Regarding the T. rex animatronic, the new animatronic team is the same one that worked on Star Wars: The Force Awakens, or so I've read (on Jurassic Outpost), which probably explains why it does not resemble the original one. I doubt they had the original material to work with either (since it's probably been long decayed by now), unless they were given any of the maquettes to base their work off.

They could have found material to work from easily enough,  my guess is they just wanted to match the cg one in JW which to me is a bit of a shame as the original design with boxy barnum brown skull was iconic in my opinion.

if all we get are sick/sleeping dinosaurs i would bet it's a cost saving maneuver.

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM---a photo shows Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) emerging from the ocean onto the beach. A rumor says this is the aftermath of an underwater battle involving a submarine.

Faelrin

Can you post your sources please? Just curious, thanks.

FAELRIN:

I post movie/tv news on various forums every morning and use a minimum of about 5-6 website sources. I can't remember which ones I use on any given post.

Mamasaurus

If this picture is true, I'd imagine they are the stereotypical lone survivors of said undersea battle.  Perhaps 3 other red-shirts at most, to be disposed of as dinosaur fodder throughout the rest of the movie.  :-\

But let's see what the trailer has to show...when it does show up.  :)

I just got done checking Jurassic Outpost, and it seems the volcano thing is in fact confirmed now. There's also this mention of an Indoraptor thing that was trademarked recently. I'm going to just guess here that those mini I. rex things Hoskins talked about at the end of JW are going to happen in the next film. Of course, I'm still going to have to wait and see.

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM---Jeff Goldblum commented about the return of Dr. Ian Malcolm, "Ian Malcolm, yes, might be back in this one, and he might have something to say about the current confluence of circumstances around the use and misuse of technology. With some wry irony, deep wise passionate conviction, and he might put on a nice dark bit of clothing here and there ... and a tint of glass maybe."
He added about where Malcolm has been for the last 20 years, "What's he been in the meantime? He opened a jazz club, probably, and he's been playing every Wednesday in a place called Rockwell. He calls it Rockwell."
Also, Janet Hirshenon, the casting director for JURASSIC PARK, said Jim Carrey almost got the role of Ian Malcolm after a "terrific" audition.
Steven Spielberg said he offered the role of Dr. Alan Grant to Harrison Ford, but Ford declined the role, so Sam Neill played Dr. Grant.
Sean Connery, a friend of Michael Crichton after their THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY movie, almost got the role of John Hammond, but he wanted too much money, so Richard Attenborough played the creator of Jurassic Park.

CityRaptor

Ah great, now I imagine Connery as Hammond calling Ford as Grant "Junior"...

Oh wow, so basically all main characters were impersonated by second choices. Was at least Laura Dern a first choice? Ford and Connery would have been bad choices in my opinion, exactly because they were already together in "The Last Crusade", but I can see them portraying Grant and Hammond. However Jim Carrey as Ian Malcolm... no.

dragon53

Supposedly, Sandra Bullovck was a top candidate for the role that Laura Dern got.

Maybe she was considered but I've read that Laura Dern was Spielberg's first choice to play Dr. Sattler.
