Look what dropped in today...

ordered in 19 days ago and wouldn't have thought it to arrive that early (amazon still lists it as expected to arrive on 13th of October). I hope I can review these two little buggers within the next week.

Dobber

Curious where info can be found on this Wave 3? Their Facebook page doesn't show anything that I can see...but I don't have a Facebook account and may not be navigating it correctly.  :-[

I'm just really excited for those new Tyrannosaurs.

Fresh from the Boat :))

Basilosaurus - What an amazing figure! I'm very impressed with this figure! Oh, also submitted a review of it ;)
[
I love how they put together a beautiful display base for it.

And now the mini-series. I got 10 of them, and they are all nicely done figures with amazing details especially on the feathering.
I'm really hoping this series will expand, also nice species selection. I highly reccomend these guys, they are super cool! The figures are a little bigger than Kaiyodos if that helps.
As you may notice, I did not get any of the stegosaurs this time

Archaeopteryx - I love this one, so bird-like. Beautiful details on the feathers.

The other feathers one, Confuciusornis - I love the trail feathers! The detailing is just beautiful

Nyctosaur - beautiful little pterosaur! How on earth would they fly with that sail? ;D

Himalayasaurus - Cool 8)

Proceratosaurus - I really like this one. Unfortunately, the base is made of soft plastic and tends to warp.

Kosmoceratops - A fine little fellow - full of character

Olorotitan - Now thats a beauty

Allosaurus - good old Al

Einiosaurus - Finally! This one is full of attitude!

Ampelosaurus - Cute, but this one is the weakest of the group unfortunately

There you have it, if you want some more photo, check out my other threads

Gwangi

I just got the Nyctosaurus, Kosmoceratops, and Einiosaurus in the mail. They're all fantastic. I'll probably have to collect them all, the little ones at least. Expect reviews for all three on the blog within short order.

Dobber

Beautiful pictures, thanks for posting them.  :)

Regarding the basilosaurus, is it's articulated jaw shown in the photos the maximum limit of how far it can close?
Thanks for the photos btw, helped me choose what I should purchase. ;D

Flaffy

Is it possible for the basilosaurus to have blubber/fatty tissue on it's head like an orca or beluga?

POP of FAN

Wow beautiful figures and beautiful pictures.

Thanks for sharing, Bokisaurus! :D :D :D

Dinomike

On the Basilosaurus Wikipedia page it says, "The head of Basilosaurus did not have room for a melon like modern toothed whales"

It certainly didn't have a melon, even modern rorquals lack them and Basilosauridae split long before the modern lineage of whales split between toothed and rorqual.

That being said I'm still not convinced by the "popular reconstruction" of Basilosaurus as a giant eel.

Same. Thanks for the info guys ^-^
The basilosaurus model just looks too much like a sea serpent/giant eel to me IMO.

Not sure if the PNSO version conforms to the 'popular reconstruction' as it doesn't really look all that eel-like to me. If anything, the head resembles that of an amazon river dolphin. It has quite a bit of girth going on in some segments. Sure its not plump or well fed, but then again none of the models in the PNSO line are particularly healthy (e.g. Einiosaurus, Lufengosaurus). The Nyctosaurus is basically a a leaf.

Well, maybe that's how the actual animal really looked  :P

P.S. Lots of blubber in these photos:

I find it hard to believe that it didn't have room for a melon in there, I know watermelons can be quite large, but surely a honeydew melon wouldn't have posed a challenge? It could always have just chewed it into smaller pieces, if nothing else.

terrorchicken

that basilosaurus is gnarly! :o what a monstrosity! and I dont mean its a badly made model... on the contrary, its wonderfully crafted, but it looks like some kind of zombie/alien whale.

their megalodon shark is pretty hideous too, but its kinda fitting for it... :))

Meh, the PNSO reconstruction still bugs me a little. Some reconstructions have more blubber and you can tell it's a whale, like the BBC Sea Monsters one. Some others are just so thin or twisty that makes it look less whale, more serpent.
That's why I prefer the basilosaurus from the prehistoric sea life toob more.
But still, the PNSO one still looks great and is no where near as 'serpenty' as other reconstructions.

I agree.

Here's another image of that Basilosaurus (it looks like a sinister dolphin with that expression)

I can't seem to find any closed mouth images in the web, though. But, my model definitely clamps shut, all the way  :)

I would like to see some more marine animals by PNSO. An Elasmosaurus would be cool.

At least it doesn't look like just a big Great White!
I am the Dinosaur King!

Albertosaurus

As I said before, the Chunkingosaurus paintjob is terrible in my opinion. So I started to repaint it! It is my first time using an airbrush, but I´ll try to achieve something at least a bit better than the factory colors.
