So the rumor of a Papo Giganotosaurus  in 2017 is wrong?
I believe the Giga will be a 2018 release, if I remember correctly. Also, is the mini Giga labelled as a Giganotosaurus or could it be a mini Acro?
Pretty sure it was labeled as a Giga.  Plus, I don't think anyone could mistake an Acro for a Giga.
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

From someone who's collected every Papo dinosaur to date, I can confirm that their line is definitely therapod heavy. In fact, the balance of herbivores vs predators is very skewed. I'll post some photos later.

Photos of what?? Remember that this thread is for papo 2017 releases, not personal collections.

Why everybody say that the giganotosaurus will be not released this year?

They don't release only one figure every year.

Bigger than a camarasaurus,
and with a bite more stronger that the T-Rex bite,
Ticamasaurus is certainly the king of the Jurassic period.

With Balaur feet, dromaeosaurus bite, microraptor wings, and a terrible poison, the Deinoraptor Dromaeonychus is a lethal enemy for the most ferocious hybrid too.

Because it was confirmed in an interview awhile back that Papo's 2017 assortment will not include the Giganotosaurus.

Thanks, where is the link for the interview?

Because we already have Acrocanthosaurus, Iguanodon, and now Polacanthus confirmed, and Papo only releases 3 new sculpts a year.

With how much detail put in each sculpt, I can see why they probably only get three sculpts done per year. And there are probably more repaints coming.

sauroid

they could at least make five figures a year. im kinda sick of their repaints already.

There's one Papo repaint I'd love to see, and that's Triceratops. I think it'd be a great figure if it were more colorful, instead of the rather ugly brown it is now.

Agreed, mine is in the queue for some modding, but I don't know when I'll get round to that as I'm very busy ATM.

Same here. I've been advocating for a repainted Triceratops for months now.

I get why some people don't like repaints, but it's not like they're taking the place of new toys. Papo's annual prehistoric assortments have always consisted of only 2-3 figures, with or without repaints. If you don't like them, just don't buy them.

I think the people who don't like them are the people that try to have their collection 100% complete (such as myself).... At first I was ok with it but I own like 4 different color versions of the same raptor sculpt and living in america it can be a little pricy to get the exclusives like the rainbow rex... I still haven't gotten the new ovi raptor because of this reason and over time yeah these repaints have been a little annoying especially when they don't even look that good.

I understand your position on Papo and I share it. Buying exclusive repainted dinosaurs is to throw the money in a way but in the case of Papo although they are in their vast majority imperfect from the point of view scientific always try to collect their exclusive and repainted dinosaurs.

In fact I am a collector and I have all the collection of velociraptor offspring coming from the egg of Rebor that is in limited version and even more tyrannosaurus and velociraptor exclusive of Papo and the oviraptor of the identical brand. I honestly do not recommend it to people who do not want to spend money excessively but the hyperrealism of the Papo figures fascinated me by how well finished they are.

I share your position and I do not recommend to any collector the afiction I have about repainted models.

You could just not buy them. I really don't understand the completest mentality, especially in regards to re-paints or stuff the collector doesn't even like. But hey, it's your money, buy what you don't want.  ;)

Shonisaurus

From my point of view it is surely illogical to buy as I make identical dinosaurs and prehistoric animals with different paintings. However, stamp collectors collect stamps with the same format but differ in color.

If a limited series of stamps decorated with other colors means for a future a fortune for the collector not only from the economic point of view but from the amateur point of view of the stamp Who can deny that such importance can have a Papo dinosaur, Schleich, Safari or Collecta?

Although they are toys dinosaurs today are beginning to take on a role for collectors (not yet accented) as the collection of miniatures of trains or cars or miniatures of Star Wars, to give three examples. You never know though now collectors are a handful compared to other fans of other trends.

Yeah, speaking as someone who used to active in the Transformers fandom, I've never quite grasped the completist mentality. I can't recall how many times Hasbro would put out a repaint or a remould of a certain robot and fans would be spewing venom while openly admitting that they were going to "have to" buy it. If it's really not going to bring you any happiness, then just don't buy it.

I like the repaints personally, I think it gives a fresh look to an old figure, and I like how they look on my shelf too - I'm particularly fond of my papo raptor pack.  But I am not a completest, so if I don't like a figure (repaint or not) I just won't buy it.

Isn´t there a Papo general thread where you guys can discuss about repaints? I keep coming back to this thread thinking that the new models have been announced and the only thing I see is repaint talk! Please go back to topic....
