Any info regarding I.rex's size? The head looks quite large compared to that guy, but it could be the angle.

That whale-sized mosasaur is likely staying in the movie... sadly.

I'm tired of being disappointed by movies in general, and now the only things that will get me into theatres are Dinosaur movies and the ever trustworthy James Bond. I'm not gonna be fooled by Star Wars even, unless Disney gives me Bluray releases of the ones I grew up with. Jurassic World I will remain a little sceptical of, since I choose to remain a cynic, but honestly, I haven't been this excited for a movie in a long time.

I am a little annoyed at the killer Pterosaurs in the superbowl trailer, though. I would have hoped for as little possible connection to JP3, a movie I cannot hate, but irks me so much I have never been able to uncritically watch.

Trained Velociraptors could turn out to be annoying, but so far I'm liking the concept. JP3 already ruined the raptors anyway. Those things abandoned their entire nests to chase after two stolen eggs? Pffffft. I hope the rest of the clutch were eaten by Gallimimus and rats. Since they took away their menace in that film, it will be great (hopefully) to see them instilled with some personality and heroism in this one.

Here's a theory for you that might help out JP3 for you. There were several nests there...hence more Raptors than what were shown. The pack structure seems to be 1 alpha female and a couple or more males.  One group , the ones the eggs were stolen from , track the threat to their nest and retrieve the eggs. The rest stay and guard the nesting site.  These were some REALLY smart Raptors after all.

While I get why you feel that way about the killer pterosaurs,I can't help but like to see one of my favorites,Dimorphodon doing their best impression of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds;D

I wonder what else will get to chase around the park visitors once the inevitable mass break outs happen aside from the obvious like the new hybrid dinosaur.Ceratosaurus maybe? Could this be where we see Metriacanthosaurus,Baryonyx or Suchomimus for a few moments?
Don't you hate it when you legitimately compliment someone's mustache and she gets angry with you?

What's wrong with the mosasaur?
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

CityRaptor

She is way too big.  So basially the same issue as with the Liopleurodon in WWD.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

There was a fan analysis of the mosasaur's size showing her to be not so large, just a trick of perception, not sure if that's final or not.

If they engineered a whale sized Mosasaurus  well that would draw in a crowd.  Might be interesting to if it should escape to the open ocean.

For what it's worth, the Jurassic World website says Mosasaurus is 18m long both on the Mosasaurus page, and on the size chart of the Jurassic World animals (the one that also has the inaccurate 4m long Velociraptor).  Real Mosasaurus are known to have grown to around 18m long.

They've said the I-Rex will be a Frankenstein's monster-like creature,  sad it's in own way. It can't help being what it is. It was bred to be a vicious killing machine for the entertainment of others..the people who made it such are the real monsters...which though predictable is a strong JP theme.

One problem I had when I first heard of a Hybrid Dinosaur was, why do you even need a dinosaur? If you can Hybridize animals for people's amusement, then how's a cross bred theropod any more interesting than an Elephant-eagle-glow worm-octopus- puppy?
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Easy answer. It's based on a dinosaur.  So they've created not only a dinosaur but something so vicious, deadly, "entertaining" that nature couldn't even think of it.

I do wonder if the next step would be a fantasy park with dragons, unicorns, griffons, ect..

Here's an interesting article on just one way Jurassic World falls short of the original:

http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2015/02/jurassic-worlds-antagonist-problem-can-dinosaurs-b.html

A good read!  I'm afraid the author is right.

I'm not sure he knows enough of the plot yet to be right.

The I-Rex isn't a villain. It's Frankenstein's Monster.  Like Ellie said in the first film ( though she was speaking to plant life) " these are aggressive living things that have no idea what century they are in and they will defend themselves, violently if necessary. "  Take that train of thought and apply it to a dinosaur. Okay. Now let's say some geneticists create a new animal with that as a background and make it's sole purpose violence and killing for amusement. The creature is a pariah amongst everything, people, other dinosaurs, the whole world it exists in. It will have a tortured existence til it is finally put out of it's misery.  So what we know of it so far tells me the villains are the people, the corporate element that needs a bigger draw to keep the park open..do they create a HUGE sauropod? No they pander to an audience that wants blood and gore.  Claire aka Bryce Dallas Howard's character isn't a villain either. She's a bit like John Hammond with an ideal in one hand and will have to mesh that idea with reality in the end.  She lives in the lab and probably never goes out much. You can see when she is looking at the dying Apatosaur with Owen that she is lost and confused..while Owen's expression and body language and asking her " Do you see now?"  I believe she will be the convert to Owen's way of thinking by the end.

Good points Blade - it's true we don't know that much about the plot and like Frankeinstein Indominus Rex may be the misunderstood one. However, what the author point out is the predictability of Hollywood.  Now that we have a new Godzilla-like monster it is pretty predictable what's going to happen to it. And thus it will become the focus of the movie. Unless, and I hope so, the screenwriters have come up with something unusual for a Hollywood blockbuster.

We can guess, like Frankenstein it will have to be removed from this world it doesn't belong in. Either it will be killed or perhaps captured for a sequel? An army of these creatures do a lot of damage as bio-weapons. There are many routes that can be taken.

This film may predictable to an extent but so was JP as well..especially if you had read the book first.  It reality using a working park is already an unexpected element.  I think this film will do fine provided it flows and has enough story.  The sequel to it will be a difficult place to go though.
