The new "RaptorPass" page is up for the Mosasaurus. It states that the animal is Mosasaurus maximus, and is 60 feet long. As far as I know, M. maximus has been proposed but is not currently recognized. I have seen some length estimates of really big Mosasaurus specimens that are only a few feet shy of sixty, but it seems a little out there.

Just received the update myself. I guess Brian went with an animal that it might be..it's also possible in film that they shot it up with growth hormones...at least it's not the 200 feet some said it was when the first trailer aired. I also noticed he said everything but " we feed it sharks".. lol

Ours has a similar diet, though the Mosasaur we currently have here at the Park is only around 20' long..a much more manageable size. ;)

They seem to be evolving that Mosasaur shot with each trailer as there are now buildings on the far side of the lake she's kept in.  And that shot of the dead/dying Apatosaurs is sooo sad. :(

SIBLING?!  They made TWO OF THAT MONSTROSITY!?  WTF is InGen thinking?!

Also, heard the T. rex's signature roar in there.
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

Blade-of-the-Moon

lol dinosaur cannibalism.. that's great.  Well we know they won't breed at least...

The scene of dead/dying Apatosaurs is heart wrenching..just imagining them being the same as the friendly Brachiosaurs from the first film.   I can't figure how they didn't defend themselves though. Even if this critter is T-Rex sized a herd of Apatosaurs should be pretty formidable.

The new hybrid has tough armor (as in bulletproof),can change colors to blend perfectly into the background, and may also be poisonous too...
Don't you hate it when you legitimately compliment someone's mustache and she gets angry with you?

Blade-of-the-Moon

I haven't heard anything about the poison, but it's certainly strong.. perhaps insane as well? Lack of reason or want of self preservation can win you through a situation..sometimes.

However it does it,that new hybrid looks like it's going to give Apatosaurus the biggest beating I've yet seen one take in any movie or TV show before... :o
Apatosaurus will have the distinction of being the only sauropod to die in a Jurassic Park movie.

I can beat that..sort of. The original Lost World had one pushed over a cliff by Allosaurus. Though it still didn't die.

Recall those huge bones in The Lost World:Jurassic Park ? There were a lot of dead sauropods there..maybe of Apatosaurus as well as Brachs, Mamenchi, ect.. I guess they were dead technically..but..still.. :)

Maybe that's why it was still so angry when it was brought back to London where it ran amok... :)

I had forgotten about that...but the Apatosaurus will be the first relatively fresh carcasses we've seen.I'm betting we will discover the dead sauropods when the movie's heroes do as they come across them rather than actually see the attack. It remains to be seen if the injured one in the trailer that was still barely alive makes it or not...

In Dinosaurus, the theropod kills the sauropod. And I keep thinking about the sauropod stampede in King Kong which for me was the tragic scene of the entire movie....all those sauropods dying like that, sad.
Authors with varying competence have suggested dinosaurs disappeared because of meteorites...God's will, raids by little green hunters in flying saucers, lack of standing room in Noah's Ark, and palaeoweltschmerz—Glenn Jepsen

The idea of a pterosaur being able to carry off an adult human being with its feet bugs me more than the concept of the I-Rex.

Yeah, I was hoping that idea could've died with JP3.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

If you want your movie to include a pterosaur that can carry off a person, fine. Go with Quetzalcoatlus or Hatzegopteryx, and have it carry off the unfortunate person in its bill. As it stands, that scene comes off as just silly.

That or it was sea sick after that long voyage..lol

True, it looks like the aftermath of the stampede scene we saw before, looks like the I-Rex inspires sheer terror in sauropods, ceratopsians, stegosaurs and all the rest..enough to make them panic and flee. Then Owen and Claire being on it's trail come across the dying Apato.  Then they'll find the busted up gyrosphere the two boys were in while going through the area.

Over muscled pterosaurs..that's been a popular hollywood trope since the caveman oriented films. I bet it doesn't get far though...

They're not? They looked like adult or subadult judging by the head of the one Owen and Claire are looking at.

The apatosaurus eyes having whites bothers me more than it likely should >.<

As for the apatosaurus not defending themselves, they were probably made extremely docile, remember they are kept with glass balls.

Random unrelated question, what anime is that in your avatar?

iDOLM@STER, sadly its not actually related to dinosaurs, that was a one time gag.

I'm expecting Jurassic World to be good, but I don't expect it to be amazing. Perhaps its just the nostalgia for the JP brand but I definitely think it has a better shot at being a hit than Terminator Genesis. Jurassic World, Terminator Genesis, Star Wars, Avengers, Mockingjay, Minions, Mad Max, 2015 really is the year for sequels!(/reboots)
