Review of "Pete", from Everything Dinosaur's blog:

https://blog.everythingdinosaur.co.uk/blog/_archives/2017/10/30/rebor-pete-velociraptor-reviewed.html

Looks quite slender, especially the tail, a lot thinner than the average JP raptor depiction.

Faelrin

Seems more teal or green then the images from before. That tail seems strangely thin compare to say, Winston's. As usual I'll wait for Jurassic Collectible's review on it to get a better idea.

Interesting info in the article about the slit pupil eyes. Seems like that would be applicable to JP (styled) raptors.

I just got "Pete" today, here some picture of it  ^-^

The truth is very good even if it is a velociraptor "naked" Jurassic Park style.  :)

Thank you very much for the pics, with the right lighting "Pete" looks much more similar to the JW colour scheme, maybe except for the white underside. Wanna see how "Sweeney Todd" will turn out, I have a feeling I will like it better than this one. And the three sculpts together are very impressive, definitely something any true JP fan can't miss.

Faelrin

Those look really good together, although it's strange Pete has so little muscle on the tail compared with the others. Even the prototype of the lost world one looks like it has a little more meat there (and I thought these were the same sculpt). Still a great JW style raptor figure from the looks of it though. I can't wait to see how the others are done (and for the lost world styled one to be available).

Yes, actually "Alex" and "Pete" seem to have thinner and shorter tails than "Winston". Still don't know which ones I should get, I want to wait for all of them to be released, but it might take a while.

Fenestra

Nice! The gang is cleary up to some mischief.  :))
I really like the paint work on them. Lots of detail.
Congratulations.

About the tail, after I compare it with all 3 sculptures. They actually in the same width but different length. Surprisingly, Pete is the longest. I think it maybe because of its paint job make it look thinner.

PS. Sorry for my English.

What I've noticed in the photos is that the velociraptor Pete has a hozico more elongated than the velociraptor Winston, it seems as if the head was better finished.

The Pete velciraptor is more slender than the Winston velociraptor.

I've been toying with the idea of getting "Pete" and modifying it with feathers and such. My question is, is the sculpt fairly accurate for a deinonychus? Not counting the lack of feathers and probated wrists, obviously. Just wondering if the skull shape and other body proportions looked good to you guys that have a better eye for such things.

I pass a link of jurassic collectables, where Pete velociraptor is described, that does have serious problems because when you open your mouth maybe abruptly due to packaging you see a total deterioration of the tongue that breaks off. That is one of my reasons why I am not in favor of articulated jaws.

Are there any other dinosaurs rebor has talked about? I feel like they're only focusing on raptors a lot. Theyre great but jesus its been raptormania these past few months

Loon

Don't tend to keep up with Rebor, so I misread the thread title as Rebor: 1/18 Velociraptors "Sweeney the Pirate".

Anyone??

It's not really, it's more old school/retro deinonychus.

compare with  JP Raptor :

skull shape, ect..a lot is off.   now if make it uber fluffy most wouldn't see a difference.  Feathers hide a lot of mistakes. ;)

Dobber

Thanks Blade.  :) That's kind of what I was thinking/afraid of.

The skeletal Blade-of-the-Moon posted is of Dromaeosaurus, not Deinonychus: https://scotthartman.deviantart.com/art/Best-guess-Dromaeosaurus-536236816

This is a skeletal of Deinonychus:

You might find this post helpful, in which I compared Deinonychus and the Jurassic Park Velociraptor, it's Reply #562 in the Schleich 2017 thread: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=4850.msg173641#msg173641

I currently don't have any desire to further compare Rebor's "Pete" to Deinonychus.  This is because I find this kind of copying the JP franchise Velociraptor, like Rebor has done, extremely unpleasant and boring.  This is also the reason why I haven't been posting in the Rebor "Velociraptor" threads.

If you'd like a skeletal reconstruction of Deinonychus for comparison, I recommend Scott Hartman's (which is the one I've included in this post), and Gregory Paul's ones found in his "The Princeton Field Guide to Dinosaurs" books.  In at least the second edition of that book by Gregory Paul, it also shows Deinonychus's skull from above, as well as from the side.

Thanks Sim. Like I originally said, I wasn't interested in the JP Raptor, but rather wanted to use the model as a base for a more accurate piece. While I knew it looks nothing like a real Velocirator, in both size and structure.  I wasn't sure if it at least structurally resembled a Deinonychus, which it was supposed to be based on, and could go from there....but alas, it is nothing more than a complete movie monster. Oh well. I guess if I REALLY wanted to still do it, it could just be some random unknown Dromaeosaur.

Blade-of-the-Moon

My mistake.  I knew scott had made one since I used it for our Deinonychus here at the park.  I searched it up on google and just snagged the image addy real quick.

You could wait til David Silva does one..or maybe get his Build A Raptor kit and make one?
