Interesting analysis - that this relatively small asteroid would have spared the dinosaurs had it hit seconds earlier - or later - but by striking - and vaporising - a massive sulphur-rich rock formation, it created a cloud that so effectively blocked out the sun that the earth suffered below freezing temperatures for as long as 10 years, thus dooming any survivors of the immediate post-impact inferno to death by starvation or freezing.
