I have been through everything of mine that I could locate and replaced the images.

ZoPteryx

I think I've replaced all of mine as well.

Thnaks all, we are making good progress together!

Is there any way I could just delete my current collection thread? The majority of the photos on there are just group shots of all my childhood toys, and I think this would be a great opportunity to make a new, clean thread with my favorite dinos. HERE is the thread that could be deleted!

Same question. My collection thread has become useless now, I might as well start from scratch and let the old one die...

sauroid

i requested that too, but we're only allowed to delete our PB pic links and repost new images using another photo hosting sites within our original collection thread. i will update my original collection thread asap.

Everything_Dinosaur

Just gone through all the Everything Dinosaur posts and deleted the photobucket images.  All tidied up (I think), how to post up images in future, that's a tricky question.  Can you like images from Facebook?

most DTF members use this photosharing site and very easy to use.

.....Can you like images from Facebook?

Our leader earlier made the following comment to someone else on using Facebook: "I'd be careful of Facebook, they have a habit of changing urls which breaks embedded images."

Everything_Dinosaur

Thanks for the head's up on Facebook, not sure how best to go posting up images in the future on this forum.

sauroid

too bad you cant post pics anymore then...

I understand the reasoning but I'd like to keep the old collection threads because they also contain reactions and discussion. However, I wouldn't mind locking old threads so you can start new collection threads. I'd just prefer to keep the old ones for perpetuity, even with the Photobucket images deleted. Maybe you can update the old collection thread titles with dates and post a link to the new thread? Something like "My collection thread [2012-2017]" in the title, and "See my new collection thread here: link" in the last post.

Is that one actually ok? I used https://imgsafe.org/ for most of my uploads, and unfortunately now all of them are gone, cause the whole site seems to be gone. Do we have to trust sites like those that claim the images you upload will never expire?

none of these free photo hosting sites are guaranteed to serve us flawlessly forever tho. let's just enjoy and use them while we can. and make sure we have back up files.

re: postimage. so far it is a no fuss no muss photohosting site that a lot of DTF members have been using for a couple of months.

Isn't that true of every website, including the DTF? Websites are not rocks. Every single one might disappear some day.

very true. but everyone's hoping that DTF will last as long as possible, facebook might be the next phase of the community. (being a member for the past 7 years, just the thought of this forum being gone is depressing)

You're both right guys. I was thinking about making a Flickr account, but I'm not a photographer, so probably having one just for uploading pictures on this forum would be too much. I'll keep on using those free hosting sites, no matter how long images will last.

Don't worry, I've no plans to shut the forum, but I won't be around forever.

Facebook wouldn't be any good as a replacement, it is all too fleeting. You'll struggle to find an old conversation on Facebook that happened a week ago, let alone years ago. Forum's are far superior.  ;)

Good that you're younger than me ;D.

BlueKrono

I had a Facebook for ten years, but I got rid of it a year and a half ago. I much prefer the DTF, regardless of downtime.
