A classic case of "repent and repaint." Go for it, intrepid, aspiring paleopainters! There's nowhere to go but up.

Shonisaurus

In its day I received the four dinosaurs of Mojo and I can affirm that the colors that they put to their theropods are at the antipodes of their prototypes. They are not bad figures but I'm honestly a bit disappointed with the real figures, pretty but not as excellent as their exhibition figures were, unfortunately.

PhilSauria

There's just been an unboxing by David over on his Jurassic Collectables You Tube channel and out of the cardboard came the four new Mojos giving another chance for a look at these. The colours are still just as bright but I may get the Baryonyx and give it a repaint because I do like the sculpt. The Gig I'm afraid is a write-off for me, especially in light of the chance of the PNSO finally going retail and will Papo finally give in to public demand? Diplodocus was there and what's the deal with the feet?, there is no excuse for not getting Sauropod feet right these days, will probably pass on this one as well - come on down Safari Camarasaurus!

Thanks for the head's up about Jurassic Collectibles. All in all, such a disappointing release.
My primary figure from this release was definitely the Giganotosaurus, and it looks like I am no longer in pursuit of it. Amazingly, it's still more accurate than anything Schleich has produced in Giga's.
I know the Baryonyx was a huge point for many that were looking into grabbing a solid one, but that too turned into a cobalt blue fireball of disappointment.
Thought the quality would increase due to their Rex and Allo from the previous year, but no such thing happened.

Oh well.

Wow these figures are such a let down... was really looking forward to the Baryonyx too :( The Giganotosaurus and Diplodocus are really bad. The Deinonychus is actually kinda okay, I feel like a good repaint could salvage that one.

Edit: Wonder what happened between January and now to make the figures look so bad. I mean, back in January they resembled their stock photos with some really decent colours :/ Also, why'd they remove the spotted markings from Baryonyx?

Shonisaurus

The sculpture of the dinosaurs of Mojo 2018 except the diplodocus is good but its colors are too strident. For me that is the great defect of the new theropods Mojo their exaggeratedly bright colors.

The baryonyx is good but that bluish metallic color spoils the figure. The giganotosaurus is good sculpture but the eyes are painted very carelessly, as well as the teeth. On the other hand the deinonychus is an acceptable figure but it hurts that yellowish color that for me is unpleasant to the eye.

Came across the prototypes for these models. They actually look kinda okay. Really goes to show just how much the paint job ruins these figures.

Thanks for sharing these.  Definitely getting the dippy for a repaint... possibly the "raptor" as well.

Of all the companies, Mojo's the one that released a sauropod in a pose I want. ;D

Faelrin

Yeah the sloppy paint jobs really do ruin them since the sculpts are decent and have lots of details. It was probably done just to keep them cheap because of how big they are. All the same their Allosaurus and rexes from last year had decent paint applications. This is just sad.

I think Mojo deserves to be commended for their efforts to improve their dinosaur products.

These prototypes are damn good.  I'm surprised at what I'm seeing.  I thought the 2018 line up was great as is for Mojo.  Understandably that we can't have nice teeth as in the resin/clay protos, what a big difference that and some good paint would make.

and reprimanded for their paint jobs.

All that potencial ruined by those paint jobs. Seems I have to look for another Baryonyx.

Roselaar

Dang, these Mojosaurs look a lot better done monochromatically! Almost wish they released them like that. :)

They should introduce a new market for folks that appreciate monochromatic models. I would certainly be interested!

Go for the Favorite version. The Mattel version is decent in my opinion. Not accurate but not completely wrong either.

Already have Mattel´s, but it belongs to the JP/JW collection, not in my regular collection. I will see If I can get my hands on the Favorite one.

I suppose a market like that already exists? The resin/garage kit market?

DragonRider02

In the sculptors place I would be kinda depressed seeing how actual products based on my art looks like... I was thinking about getting baryonyx and deinonychus, especially
when one of my local toy stores stocks Mojo but... I have never noticed that before, but it turns out that new Mojos aren't being realesed in my Country at all :P We hadn't had any new stuff since 2014, I guess? I don't remember very well. That's sad, I really wanted to get their new scarlet Macaw for my parrot Collection...

That's true. But, I would like to see unpainted options for PVC toys, as well. Imagine if we had the option to own some of Forest Rogers prototypes  :)
