Feedback on possible Tim Mee Dinosaur Reissue

Hi DTF,

I'm a toy vendor and have been working with the company that currently owns Processed Plastic and Tim Mee toys to reissue some of the old figure sets. So far, we've brought back Tim Mee soldiers and space figures, and they're actually being manufactures in the USA. The next set I'm hoping to bring back are the dinosaurs.

The set will probably be 50 to 75 pieces with figures in 2 colors. I'd like to get some cavemen included, but that's iffy.

You can see an example of them here, about half way down and described as 'The 1970s smooth series': http://www.dinosaurcollector.150m.com/Timmee.htm.

Here's another pic from toysoldierhq

Any feedback regarding your favorite colors choices, or the project in general would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help,
Jeff (VictoryBuy)

Its not a series I am very fond of compared to other old and retro figures, but for monochrome dinosaurs I prefer blacks, greys, and muted greens.
My living room smells like old plastic dinosaur toys... Better than air freshener!

The cavemen would probably be of most interest to me.  Can always find a way to use them for games or something, although it wouldn't be a high priority purchase.  In terms of colours, more muted earth tones (greys, light brown, tan) are usually preferable to bright shades.

Paleona

I had a bunch of these as a kid!  Actually, I'm pretty sure they're still at my parent's house.
Going to have to agree with what's been said already, mostly.  I prefer army green, shades of brown and tan... I recall having some small plastic dinos that were a dark maroon that I liked, as well.  Brighter colors might be more eye catching for youngsters, though.

Hey DTF,

Just wanted to update this ancient thread to let everyone here know that the Tim Mee Dinosaur Reissues will finally be available within the next few days. Back in 2012 I decided to reissue the cavemen first, since there were fewer cavemen figures available. I've been expanding the Tim Mee reissues every year, and was finally able to get the dinos into production this fall. They will come in a pack of 48 figures in Olive Green and Yellow. They're manufactured in Michigan, and so far I haven't found any other dinosaur figures that are Made in the US. If you guys are interested I'll post pictures when they're ready.

Thanks,
Jeff (VictoryBuy)

Oh, a set of retro dinosaurs that are originals and not just knock-offs....are those the same that also were used as promo figures by Sinclair?
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

I'm interested. May you upload detailed pictures of the New reissue? Also where this will be available to purchase?

Here's the package, I should have close-ups of the figures later today:

Not particularly up to date of course, but I always like to see retro dinosaur figures. These look pretty fun, and I might pick them up if I ever find them around.

What's with all the re-issuing these days? Bullyland, Battat, Sega, Tedco and now Tim-Mee. Seems all the rage!

They'll be available on Amazon and my webstore within the next few days. I'll can post a link if that's allowed.

Is there a certain ratio how these figures are packed or is it random? For example I don't want to end up with a large amount of Mammoths and Smilodons and only small numbers of the Dinosaurs and Dimetrodons.

Nice! They remind me of some of the hard plastic toys I played with as a kid.

VictoryBuy

In the old days they were packed by weight so you wouldn't always get every figure in a bag, but these are packed as they come out of the mold, so you get at least 2 of each figure in each color.

Gwangi

Very cool, I remember having these as a kid. If I can find some I'll pick them up. Do we know who will carry them?

VictoryBuy

They'll be available on Amazon my and Webstore within the next few days. You won't find them in any Brick-and-Mortar stores, at least not right now.

Here's the Tim Mee / Processed Plastic cavemen we reissued a couple of years ago:

Gwangi

I'll have to look into the caveman too. Really makes the nostalgia kick in.

CityRaptor

Is this just me or is one of them the Hulk?

He did start out as the hulk. Tim Mee had a line of Marvel toys in the early 80's. When the contract ran out, they retooled the molds into more generic fantasy figures. At some point after that, they shrunk down the fantasy caveman figure and added him to the other 3, which were probably designed in the 70's. Here's the larger caveman with his D&D compatriots:

In this scale you can see he even had fangs.
