Articulated is not a word i would use to describe this.

The arms only serve to make the model roar. and the jaw cannot close.

I did not buy one, because i did not have the money.   But i think i may buy one to review on the Blog.

I had a similar thought when I walked past them at Target.

You beat me to it.  I went to Target yesterday to have a look, and after getting over how LARGE they are, I noticed the same thing about the articulation - and general flimsiness of the pieces.  Mattel has NOTHING to fear from these toys .... I have to admit, the Utahraptor is a pretty toy ... if only the legs weren't so over-sized ... well, at least Battat is doing SOMETHING new with dinosaurs ... so there's hope ...

What really matters here is that there are going to be tons of dinosaur toys in stores this year.

It's good for indoctrination purposes.

Yeah, these toys seem up your alley  ;)

Pretty as in pretty ug...makes Godzilla seem like a handsome ambassador for theropods.

I ran to Target today. Found none. I was not happy.

I did leave the store with a Bulbasaur plushie.

@EmperorDinobot Which are you "targeting" to buy?

Also, off topic, but I followed your signature eBay store and I have bought SO MUCH from you.
Just wanted to say it's an honor to meet you. Huge fan of the old pokemon collectibles.  ;)

 :))

Always happy to serve!

Anyways, I was going to purchase the Utahraptor. I was going to buy two of them, one for the contest, but came up with a much better idea. Check my store link on the store forum.

Hello friends. It really is a little disappointing what Battat is offering us this year, but I share the opinion of some who believe that if this is a means for them to later release the rest of the reissues of the original models, welcome it.

As additional information, I will mention that in the country where I live (Chile) a toy import company is bringing the Terra line almost in its entirety, as can be seen in this link:

https://caramba.cl/jugueteria/?caramba=1&marcas=terra

And they are also being sold in the physical stores of this other Retail company:

https://busqueda.paris.cl/busca?q=Terra

Which from what I've seen in my area have sold very well, and I hope that it is really selling well in the rest of the country, so that this way Battat see that its products sell well abroad and want to invest in producing the other remaining figures that all collectors and lovers of dinosaurs are waiting for (and why not also say to the admirers of the great talent that the esteemed Mr. LoRusso imposed in his works, may he rest in peace) :'(

That's what I thought too.
I find it relieving that educational toy stores like Caramba still exist. They have been run out of business in the USA.

Aaaanyways, I got the Utahraptor today and saw the T.rex. It's huge!!!

Yes, at least here there are few stores like that, but there are. Hopefully later on they are more.

And how are these new dinosaurs, have good sounds at least? How tall is the T rex?

EmperorDinobot

The T.rex is huge! I would say it's about 7 inches tall or so.

With the JWFK stuff coming these gaudy toys have zero chances. They can represent a cheap alternative, assuming that they'll actually be cheaper than Mattel.

Especially since Target has their own exclusive line of licensed JP toys  ;)

Archosauria

Oh man. I've seen these in Target. They're very disappointing to me. I really wanted the Utahraptor to be re-released and now they've pretty much butchered it.

Not to mention that this whole new line seems rather disrespectful to Dan LoRusso and his amazing sculpts.

This is all my opinion, of course.

In case you were wondering about the quality of the new figures I went to Target today to find the above dinosaur. Yes this is the new Dilophosaurus broken in packaging (lower jaw is loosely rolling around the bottom at this point). Even checked with a friend who was working that night to find that's how it had been shipped. There's changing your business model and then there's this blatant disrespect of Dan La Russo's legacy with these oversized Happy Meal Toys.

Faelrin

And I thought Hasbro had bad quality control with the JW line. That's just sad, and I'm also sad again the chance of getting this as a model is probably slim now.

Kill it! Kill it with fire! Put it out of its misery!

This is a disgrace. I'd rather let Battat's dinosaur line die than support this. If they continue making dinosaurs, it'll most likely be more of these cheap, lazy cash grab amalgamations.

Reminds me of this:

Just stopped by my Target to see the new setups for JW go public, and I just saw this:
This rex is at least 16 inches long from what it looks like in box. It's HUGE. And unfortunate.

Comparison with the Dan LoRusso legacy line.
