I know. I'm just saying that if the figure's colour scheme was more true to the package art, it would've looked better and more natural.

Ah, I see. In that case, I fully agree with you.

If anyone is interested, this is Kicktraq's projection of the Ceratopsian Kickstarter:

LeapingLaelaps

Some responses he's posted on Kickstarter, including one to one of my questions. It seems that whether or not any stretch goals are met, David is determined to make all of the figures eventually, and some day we may get another Kickstarter to fund the rest of the figures that don't make it in this one!

Either way I'm very proud of David and all the hard work he's done, and even if we don't reach any of the stretch goals, we'll still have fully funded the Kickstarter and gotten four awesome figures and some other neat goodies! ;D

Flaffy

While it's a bit discouraging that not all stretch goals might be met this KS (anything can change in the last few days, I hope the KS proves me wrong), I'm just glad David is even making these at all. Most of these figures are the best representations of their genus in toy form, while some species are getting their very first representations. I think this alone is a big achievement in the dinosaur toy industry.

So the Einiosaurus did get updated to resemble the revised package art, after all. I certainly hope to see this one funded (not only because I want it, but it also comes right before the Regaliceratops, one of my favorites).

I am absolutely loving how it looks with that fan's choice Dromaosaurus too.

David has shuffled around Wave 1 stretch goals, which I would've wanted for later waves, but not this one. Protoceratops and Psittacosaurus are bumped back (the only two from this wave I wanted.) Chasmosaurus and Nasutoceratops were brought forward. Among others.

Hopefully this reinvigorates the funding, but I am sad the two I wanted are perhaps more out of reach now! We will see.

EDIT: First stretch goal, Chasmosaurus, is unlocked. ($160,000 met)

stargatedalek

Darn, those were the only two I was going to buy. Hopefully they get funded.

Flaffy

Hm, interesting. Pushing the derived ceratopsians closer rather than further away might just work. Fingers crossed.

I have mixed feelings on the new order but that's only if the Protoceratops and Psittacosaurus don't get funded, other wise if they do this order won't matter at all. On the other hand the Diabloceratops is one I am interested and will likely be met sooner now. Of course what also won't matter is the fact I can't be sure this early that I can increase my pledge further for any more.

Ultimately I do hope all of Wave 1 and 2 at the very least can get funded, and maybe 3.

Edit: Actually I've given this more thought, partly after remembering the price point of the Psittacosaurus, being at $205,000 originally, which as of now if the campaign reaches that point, 4 of the figures would be unlocked then rather then 3 as originally, and partly from David's recent explanation posted in the kickstarter comments. I actually think was a smart move as it gives a chance for several of the cheaper options in Wave 1 to get funded, as well as them also sharing parts with the Monoclonius, etc which has been funded.

Edit: Pyroraptor I think is the only one not listed as I'm not entirely sure if it was found in particular formation or not.

Sort-of-late reply here, but the formation Pyroraptor was found in does have a name, however none of its contemporaries were ceratopsians or tyrannosauroids.

Dinoguy2

The figures in this line are simply too big. I think given how diverse cerstopsids are compared to raptors, a lot more people would have pledged for more than two if they were half the size they are and cheaper.

David said he made them this large because 1/18 is a popular action figure scale, but how many people are really going to be posting these with Star Wars toys? Furthermore, they are actually way too large to be 1/18. I think they are closer to 1/12. Seeing his comparison pics where the skull of the Styracosaurus is half again as long as a full grown human is tall... Never in my life have I seen a Styracosaurus that big, and I don't know how these sizes were arrived at. The Triceratops is sized to the absolute largest world record specimen ever known. We have thousands of Triceratops skulls and this is in no way an average sized adult.

The skull of the Monoclonius is nearly as tall as a 1/18 figure. In real life that skull is barely 1.5 m. The original DinoRiders Monoclonius is closer to 1/18 scale but is still too big.

Zuniceratops was the size of a large dog. The figure is twice as large as it should be.

The size increases the price and seems to be based on some basic misunderstanding of how size estimates are made. That was the biggest mistake.

avatar_Ravonium @Ravonium Thank you for that link. I'll certainly take a look at that after.

D @Dinoguy2 Perhaps this could be brought up on the kickstarter? Though of course it is pretty much too late now as these have already been sculpted, etc by now.

The Regaliceratops package art by Raul Ramos has been revealed! I can't wait to see the prototype, the colors look beautiful. The Medusaceratops looked like a sunset, but this one reminds me of a sunrise!

Shonisaurus

If I could, I would buy David Silva's entire ceraptoside collection. These figures are all a beauty with a modern painting and that can serve as an example for other brands. It is a magnificent collection of ceraptosides, the medusaceratops is an outstanding figure but the regaliceratops believe that its prototype (when revealed) will overcome this trend.

Faelrin

Oh lawd he comin.  Anyways, I seriously and really do hope this one gets unlocked before the campaign is over. If the package art looks this gorgeous I really cannot wait to see what it looks like painted up.

Gothmog the Baryonyx

Can anyone tell me whether, at this moment in time, it is possible to back for just the Zuniceratops, Protoceratops and Psittacosaurus and nothing else? And if so, is there a trick to doing it?
Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, Archaeopteryx, Cetiosaurus, Compsognathus, Hadrosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Albertosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Stenonychosaurus, Deinonychus, Maiasaura, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Argentinosaurus, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Mei, Tianyulong, Kulindadromeus, Zhenyuanlong, Yutyrannus, Borealopelta, Caihong

Faelrin

avatar_Gothmog the Baryonyx @Gothmog the Baryonyx I would recommend selecting the Zuniceratops as your reward for now, and then increasing/changing your pledge amount with their addon prices once the two unlock. Or alternatively, you could pledge for the Zuniceratops, and add on the amounts for both the Protoceratops ($73 US, $75 int) and Psittacosaurus ($47 US, $50 int) to your total pledge amount. So assuming you are in the US the pledge total would be approx $145 for all three (give or take any other shipping amount I've missed), if not it will be slightly more so.

After the kickstarter ends a backerkit survey will unlock where you can pick what addon's you chose during the campaign (as well as add more on then too, if desired).

Edit: Well the Regaliceratops is finished painted up now too! And he's working on a calendar too.

Oh my that's a beauty. A bit less red than expected, but otherwise a really nice figure.

Can't decide between the sub trike or the regali.

ZoPteryx

I'm liking theses recent paint apps far more than I thought I would.  It's only making my decision tougher!  :))

Yes, they do indeed refer to it as G. libratus.

Cool!  I'll modify the list I previously posted.

Shonisaurus

The application of regaliceratops paint is beautiful. BoTM is the best brand as I pointed to articulated figures.

Jose S.M.

The Regaliceratops is my favorite regarding color schemes! I love it.
