Would have loved it to be a little beefier, but other than that it is a magnificent figure. Thanks for the comparison with the Parasaurolophus, some detailed shots with the Styracosaurus would be helpful too.

Those photos do an excellent job at bringing out the subtle details of the sculpt; good job! I'm certainly reconsidering my attitude towards the figure.

I wanted to get this figure (and review it), but the chance never came. Thank you for finally getting that figure a much deserved review on the blog now.

I'm one of those who didn't care for it when pictures were released, but  as soon as people from here shared their personal photos I changed my mind. I haven't got it because I already have a para and I have the one per genera rule, but it's a fine piece.

Your welcome.  I would have liked to see your thoughts on it.

Thank you.  That was one of my goals when I photographed it.

Yes, that theropod is an epic fail, but some latest releases leave me rather hopeful.

Are they (Schleich) making money?

Heaps of I bet. Here in Schleich's home territory (Germany) their figures are basically the one and only brand you can find in the major toy stores and also most independent smaller ones. Even Bullyland animal figures are damn hard to find, most times you can just find the fanchise figures Schleich has no license for. And a look to German ebay or similar sites shows that Schleich figures are rated high and sell accordingly. Given, their animal figures are of great sculpting, well executed paintjobs and very durable, just their prehistoric figures fail at least as often as they succeed in the eye of a collector.

Personally I find there's a great deal of Schleich figures that are inaccurate and that I do not like, but there's also those that I like despite their inaccuracies (as the old hulks Apatosaurus or Brachiosaurus) and over the years Schleich also made some that were quite good (both Kentrosaurus, the latest Stegosaurus, Pentaceratops, Dinogogorn, Psittacosaurus,...). Unfortunately, those also seem to be the ones that don't sell aswell as those horrible ones as the one described here. I guess parents and children like those gaudy colors, mean attitudes and hilarious teeth on their dinosaurs... and after all, Germans at least do not know what they miss, because you cannot buy Safaris or CollectAs in the vast majority of shops.

Most unfortunate.

We have Schelich here in the major retailers. I always wished to see Safari Ltd. pop up in said retailers. A dream that never came to pass because educational toy stores have all shut down.

A relic of the past, I suppose.

Ditto for Australia. Very hard to find outlets that sell Dino and extant animal figures that are not Schleich. Even the Museum, while having a great collection of fossils and casts / mounts does not seem too fussed about what is on sale in their souvenir shop, unfortunately appearing to subscribe to that retail meme about Dinosaurs = toys for children.
