I think I've found out why this pesky little Concavenator has 4 fingers...
oh well... If it's in the film, there's nothing Mattel can do about that.

ItsTwentyBelow

Wow, there's your answer right there for the extra digit. I was disappointed in seeing the Concavenator's monstrously inaccurate hands, but now we know that they aren't entirely Mattel's fault. It actually casts the inaccuracy in a new light, since it is "canon". Makes the figure somewhat more appealing overall.

Well there it is (if only I thought to check out this sooner). So that probably explains it then. If only the color scheme was more similar to the one in the film (unless the one in the film is just more muted due to lighting or whatever).

Edit: Another view of that hand (since the other digits in the mansion pic are obscured by shadow):

It definitely does have a fourth digit on the hand.

I know this was known, but it was kind of the nail in the coffin for me.
I almost cried.

It's weird - they definitely took the 4th digit from the films Lockwood Diorama design, but they didn't really capture the look of the design otherwise.

Maybe the picture just is a bad angle, but things like those giant muscley man arms are a turn off for me.

I love the dioramas in Lockwood mansion (I want a house like that in the future  ::)), but those concavenator teeth are painfull to see.
What's going on with the dentition on these new dinosaurs? The raptors in Jurassic World looks weird too, and that issue seems to be present in some of the Mattel toys. Allosaurus and suchomimus has their teeth too far back on their jaws.

It's kind of ugly, but I want to see more of that concavenator toy anyway. I'm spanish and this is the first spanish dinosaur to make an appearance in the franchise, so it's kind of special.

avatar_mgaguilar @mgaguilar Yeah it really bites for us. But I also feel bad for those that don't even have access to the Legacy figures. I think it is just those of us in the US and the UK that have gotten them aside from a few places here and there maybe. Places like Australia and Canada don't have them at all.

Since there's no guarantee that they'll even change their mind for the holidays, or that there will be a retool/repaint for 2019, I went and spent nearly $100 (including shipping) on one being sold from the UK, on ebay (I should have it 2 to three weeks from now, if not sooner). It sucks that is pretty much the cheapest option for those in the states (ugh nasty scalpers charging $150 for a toy that's worth, or was intended to be worth $25), unless a friend here could find one and help out. I heard they were waiting for restocks at Smyths, but still no guarantee with that either.

German store Mytoys does have the Legacy Spinosaurus and T.rex, but nothing else Legacy. And as for Battle Damage, we only have the Super Colossal T.rex and the 15-pack. Most physical stores also only have wave 1 of Dinosaurs ( no matter if Attack Pack, Roarivores or Mini Action Dinos ) and Matchbox vehicles ( those latter things do not seem to sell at all) . Not sure about humans, but I see lots of Dino Trainer Owens, with some Claires and Wheatleys...
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

....Well, there goes most of the interest I had left in this line. I'm not really feeling excited about most of these latest reveals, and if there's no Spino coming, I doubt I'll bother with anything else.
...Except that Brachiosaurus. I'm still looking forward to that.

Appalachiosaurus

Sorry mate, that's a fake directly from 4chan itself. There are tons of rumors going around, but for now it seems Spinosaurus will be a UK exclusive.

MLMjp

It is absolutely fake, I was going to post the exact same image but with the word FAKE over it, but I don't know how to post an image that is from instagram.

After asking so much, Mattel gives us the Buck T-Rex although the photo is of poor quality is very faithful to the film, now the only thing I want is the Indominus Rex and the Parasaurolophus

Faelrin

Just about to post that pic too, but here's the tweet it came from: https://twitter.com/ChrisLikesDinos/status/1055908322904293378

Well that's one thing to add to my 2019 wishlist, that I was definitely hoping for. Since it seems to be a repaint of the Legacy Extreme Chomping one, that ought to work well as the smaller male the Spinosaurus slaughtered in JPIII. Looks like that canceled or limited released Destruct-A-Saur has just been revived in a way too, since the accessory from it is clearly visible.

Now that just leaves the rumored Indominus rex and Parasaurolophus to be seen, among any others, confirmed Brachiosaurus aside (and I'd like the Apatosaurus too, but with the Brachiosaurus and Amargasaurus coming, I'm doubting it).

A male T.rex after midnight!
Won't somebody help me
Chase this Buck all the way!

And if the other T. rex is really that nice dark greyish colour, it can make for the wild female! ^^

avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy You were totally right about why the Concavenator has 4 fingers. Mattel has confirmed it this tweet:
https://twitter.com/Mattel/status/1052666838100918272

Im still not sure if is something that I can give a pass for being movie accurate. Having extra toes or missing ones is common on herbivores and I can overlook that. But in the case of carnivores it is somewhat annoying.

The problem is not the extra finger, is the fact that it is a THUMB. The Herrerasaurus lacks dew claws and has an extra finger, it is annoying but not that much. But having thumbs is another story....

Faelrin

Yeah the number of digits on a lot of these toys is kind of odd and inconsistent in some cases. I just recently got the Protoceratops and I noticed it only has four on the front limbs, and five (the fifth being a dewclaw) on the back ones. The Sinoceratops/Pachyrhinosaurus has five on front and back, while the Triceratops gets the number of digits right (even if the fourth and fifth on the front limbs should be reduced). Herrerasaurus is missing two of its toes on its feet, and an exposed longer fourth digit, while the fourth one should be vestigial and probably hidden in the hand, like with the fifth one. The Spinosaurus mini also oddly has a fourth finger, and it is similar in appearance to the one on the Herrerasaurus figures. I know these are just Jurassic toys, so they aren't going to be the most accurate anyways, let alone held to the same standard as Safari Ltd or CollectA, but still odd nonetheless, since it seems like they had to have done some research when designing them (such as the lack of pronated wrists on most of the theropods, unless that was just by chance). Of course there's also this Concavenator, but at least the extra digit is comparable to the one seen in the film. I only wish the color scheme was similar to the one in the film.

At least Mattel really shines with the film creatures in getting their sculpts mostly close to accurate to their film designs (really the main issue on some of them might just be the teeth, like the regular non-electronic Indoraptor, versus its electronic counterpart having them pretty close to how it looked in the film).

I just saw one of the subreddits (and on instagram) I go on, but they had an image of the app (which had an update put out? I need to check this asap), and it showed some of the new figures. It's safe to say there will be a Parasaurolophus toy coming out.

Here's a pic of it posted on instagram (credit to cjknightmare) (not sure how to get the instagram images to work, so here's the link for now):
