Hey Everyone, Projects are happening fast and furious (As you can see with 3 threads in less then a month), with some actually getting small runs so i'm excited about those and will be sharing them with you soon!

Anyway, Here is something that may or may not see a mold sometime soon.  Really depends on interest, because I know there inst anything much iconic about the JW Pteranodons, especially when put up against the ones from JP3.  Having said that, seeing it in person life size(JW Pteros Ranged in size and I would say this is a middle ground of the smallest on screen and the largest), I wouldn't want to mess with one. First the base model for the bust, and a WIP of a 1/5th model i'm working on.....

As things get clearer, I'll either be sharing my paint up, or will be sharing mold, casting, and painting pics.

That's awesome, I've honestly grown fond of the JW Pteranodon design.

Looks like a cool project, I'm more into the Lost World and JP3 pteranodons myself ( even with the teeth ).  This guy always looked more like a bird just studying the face, kinda felt more like Rodan..lol

Anyone know what the thoughts were behind redoing the Pteranodons like this?

Seemingly it would appear they are females due to the smaller crests, based on Chriostopher Bennett's sexual dimorphism hypothesis, but that would mean all the individuals in JW are females and all those in TLW/JP3 are males, and I doubt they put that much thought into it. Also, the crests of the juveniles in JP3 are way too big...

Well, one could argue that the ones in JPIII displayed some sort of mutation: teeth, long crests even in females and young.  Not to mention that at least at one point it seems to have been planned to have a giant variant as well in the movie. You know, the tall, dark one.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

In JW? Don't think I've heard of that, any links?

The thing about the crests is that both are correct, they just don't appear in any single movie together, which is a bit of a missed opportunity...

And speaking of Pteranodon crests, as I mentioned elsewhere, seems from some early concept art that they considered Pteranodon sternbergi rather than the more famous longiceps for TLW...

I wonder when and how they changed it to longiceps...
