I only saw JP1 on VHS, but afterwards I spent several weeks running around the house pretending to be a raptor. I would love to have seen the first one in theaters. Its still my favorite movie of the three.

Well...it looks like you'll get the change. I can't wait to see it for a fourth time, an entire 20 years since I first saw it. I'm gonna be oozing with nostalgia on that day.

20 YEARS !?  Um..dvd ? :?   Can't imagine going that long..I see it at least once a year.

I should have clarified, I meant on the big screen. On VHS and DVD I've seen it more times than I could ever know.

And I presume a re-release will be accompanied by new movie-themed merchandise. ;)

We can hope..to an extent. ;D

Jurassic Park is on cable like every other day!  It seems they show the first and third movie a lot but seldom the second one.

DinoLord

Maybe Universal will get Papo to help them with merchandising.  ;D

DO. WANT.

I hope they do a good job of converting the movie to 3D. Imagine how amazing the Brachiosaurus and T. rex scenes will look in proper 3D!

If the 3D is anything like that used in The Lion King or Star Wars: Episode 1 than it won't be very good. I'm still gonna see it though, would rather it in 2D actually.

It would be nice if they did both so you have an option.  I'd see it once in both formats. ;)

Anyone going to see it in costume ? Would be cool to get some friends and all dress up as Dino wranglers with one or two in a raptor costume.  ;D

I prefer 2D also, I can';t see 3D as that goes, as I am a Flatviewer, when I have them 3D glasses on I do see a clear image but the images don't pop out of the screen as 3D viewers can see them pop out, also those glasses give me major migraines too, it seems to be very bad for your health as that goes, heh. 2D is fine for my doings.

I'd prefer a JP4 over a re-release of the same old movies again, I call this a waste of money 3D isn't that successful imo same as BluRay isn't, reminds me of the Double sided Beta Video Tapes of the 80's and the CDi's and MiniDiscs of the 890's heh, many great and innovative technologies, but they never became a breakthrough and failed on the market.

I haven't been as impressed with 3D as I was when I first saw Into the Reef at an IMAX in the mid 90's I think...those theaters are just designed for it.   I can get a headache from it sometimes..but I'll pop a pain pill and keep going to just to check it out.  I have been told that you can make a pair of glasses from the throw away 3D pairs to view a 3D film in 2D just by switching one lens with the opposite one from another pair.  Sounds reasonable. Make a pair and switch if it doesn't look as good. :)

This could pave the way for JP4 though. It's already being worked on..a successful test of the market with JP:3D could show if there is an audience for more films.  It would be even better if we had a tiny teaser for JP4 on it...even just a  poster or logo.

I can't comment much on Blue Ray as I don't have a player myself yet..but I am give to understand it will be a forced change on us at this point...gradual..but inevitable. So it's success is kind of guaranteed.

Gwangi

I hope the Blurays don't take off, thye cost way too much and there are too many titles that they just don't offer. I have over 400 DVD titles, there is no way I'm switching to Bluray and half the movies I own don't even exist as Blurays.

Tylosaurus

Same here the price of one BR disc is like 2 to 3 DVD's and even so BR Disc isn't much better as image quality goes than HD DVD heh.

Don't forget Quadrophonic record albums.  I still have a few.

Blue-Ray is nice, but not so nice to necessitate re-buying DVDs .. what is NICER is 3D TV.  I recommend Samsung Plasma 3D - plasma colors are deeper and that makes for better 3D.

Now, before y'all start harping about how 3D DVDs are even more expensive than Blue-Ray, here is a nugget you may not know - all these ACTIVE 3D TVs (as opposed to passive) have a 2D to 3D conversion button.  So you can watch your old DVD in 3D - and its pretty dam*ed good, I can tell you that!  You'd be amazed.  Not Avatar-like, but it turns the re-watching of the old DVDs into a new experience -

...science marches ON!!   ;D

Oh yeah I remember those, kinda of a shame it didn't become a success though  :-\

With those you have the possibility for 4 channel sound during the 1970's, the idea was indeed one if it's kind, making it a very well thought one, especially for it's time

Guess we have the same issue with it.  Last time I tried 3D was a  boradcast of "Creature from the Black Lagoon" in 3D. Gave me a headache!
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

I had a Teac Quadrophonic reel to reel tape recorder like that.  I bought it when I was in Thialand in the Air Force back in 1973.  My dad recorded himself singing four different parts, tenor, lead, baritone and bass.  The difference was the tape was discrete in that each track was completely seperate while the records used some sort of mixing to get their sound.  My deck is a Teac A 3340.
