Ok, so they have added a 360ยบ view of the dinosaur models. The thing is..only hybrids, marine and aquatic reptiles are visible in the app,.Why are the carnivores and herbivores sections empty?! Have all my scans been deleted??

EDIT: Ok, so apparently yes, all my scans have been deleted (Wonderfull ::)), but there are more sections to see. Now there is one just for the first toyline and also one for the Dino rivals.
But the section of the primal attack ones is still empty. Whats the point of the update if I can't see the new ones?!

Noted. Still think it's odd how Mattel selected two very obscure and fragmentary animals. Ah well. They will make unique additions to the blog.

Both Ornitholestes and Callovasaurus feature in the books in minor ways - Callovasaurus was one of the Park's creatures in early editions of the book and Ornitholestes was what Levine (in the Lost World) assumed the dead creature was on the beach, which in actuality was probably a Velociraptor.  Don't know where Gasosaurus fits in though, but still an interesting choice.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Interesting! Thanks for that update, guess I'll be buying some 2020 Mattel figures after all :) And good for them for not giving Ornitholestes that nose horn everyone seems to give it.

Here's an interesting interview with one of the Mattel designers, along with some concept images:

Same article has our first in package shot of the Sarcosuchus:

This is not your planet to rule. The Fallen shall rise again.

I'm loving that Sarcosuchus. Also, I'm happy we got that article. Definitely nice to know who designed which toys. I would love to see mo e from each member of the design team.

Nice Article. Good to see all those toy design portfolios including HD versions of the ones we have already seen like the Spinosaurus and Parasaurolophus, as well as new ones.

And thanks to that picture the Sarcosuchus has grow on me. When the first image of the toy was revealed I was kinda underwhelm by it, but here it looks pretty cool, despite still having a somewhat short tail.

Shonisaurus

I have rarely bought Mattel dinosaurs (twenty years ago) but this Mattel sarcosuchus tempts me so much that I am sincerely going to buy it from that brand in my nation that is marketed soon. It's a very pretty figure that sarcosuchus rivals beauty with the BoTM dinosaurs.

ITdactyl

I enjoyed that read.  Nice to have the artists share their thought processes.  And I'm not into crocs, but that Sarcosuchus is (or at least seems to be) an awesome toy.

A bit funny that the Quetz is based off a Mark Witton silhouette (and I don't mean Dr. Witton's personal silhouette) - I'm glad it was designed to be a modern representation of the animal, but it no longer fits with the 4 other 'monsterized' pterosaurs from the JW line.

If I had an opportunity to interview Mattel about JW toys, the first thing I'd ask is if they plan to improve the cartoonish proportions. The enormous feet and the tiny tails kill a lot of otherwise great designs for me.

I have a feeling that Gasosaurus will be in Camp Cretaceous, and I think the reason it would be chosen over Yangchuanosaurus and Sinraptor (among other medium sized/Asiatic carnosaurs) would be for the sake of flatulence jokes.

Oh noooo.... I hope not.

I think at this point it's well understood that the feet are large for stability reasons. And, don't quote me on this, I think the tails are shirt because they aren't the most important part of the design, shrinking the torso or head would be much more noticeable. But, who knows?

I'm praying for this now. But, I'm starting to wonder what the art style's going to be like for this series; I doubt it'll have animation like that teaser.

Exactly: Feet for stability, tails for space.  As much as we would like it, retailers have a thing against items that take up too much space, therefore the short tails, or in some cases, detached tails. ( Parents would probably complain if all tails were detached )
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

However, correctly proportioned tails are good for maintaining balance, big feet or not. Thats why some of their figures have standing issues, the tails are too short to balance out the front of the figure. The detached tails are a good idea, although some of the tails are still too small.(Spinosaurus)

I imagine that the Amber Collection is moving to Entertainment Earth Because gamestop is....not really in a stable place.   they have gone through several finacial issues, and are struggling to stay aflout in a age where most kids download there games from there Systems.

I was surprised that Mattel made them Gamestop Exclusive to begin with. some are saying that gamestop is not going to be here much longer.   And that may explain the Move To Entertainment Earth

NECA and DC Collectibles have also been releasing a number of hot items at Gamestop despite the fact that it is common knowledge that the company is not doing particularly well. Very surprising business decisions, in my opinion.

Archosauria

I can't wait to get that Sarcosuchus. It looks great!
