Appalachiosaurus

The Stegosaurus in the Live Show were Bioluminescent too, explained as plans for a night parade ala Disney but with living Dinosaurs. Nice to see all the different pieces of Canon being melded together.

CityRaptor

With some Dinosaurs being Camp Cretaceous characters, a lot of those color schemes make sense.

"Bumpy" has me wary because of the cartoony look, but it is also supposed to be a juvenile Ankylosaurus. Please tread no further down this path, Mattel...

Well, Bumpy is supposed to be a cartoon character. So yeah. And hey, could be worse:

That's a cute movie, by the way.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

avatar_CityRaptor @CityRaptor What movie was that from?

Also I updated my pic of the species revealed at SDCC, with the figures on top. I'm pretty sure the curved tail that was next to the Sinoceratops belongs to the Troodon, as it also has a curved tail, aside from larger front limbs, out of the 2 mystery silhouettes that were present, and left unaccounted for. As of now that only leaves one species out of 17 that we don't know about, which must belong to the silhouette next to the Edmontosaurus and Sarcosuchus, with tiny limbs. Any ideas as to what that could be? If continuing the trend of novel canon dinosaurs, could it belong to Dryosaurus?

Movie is "You are Umasou". In short it is about a Tyrannosaurus named Heart finding an Ankylosaurus egg, which hatches. When the baby hatches, Heart says that he is Umasou ( umasou means tasty in japanese ), which the Ankylosaurus mistakes for his name and also Heart for his parent. Heart then decides to raise Umasou in order to fatten him up, but ends up getting attached to him.

So basically, the irritator is Rudy from Ice Age...

THE SCUTOSAURUS LIVES!!

Wholeheartedly agree, CityRaptor. Could be worse. Bumpy may even find his way into my collection.

Interesting, Mattel actually did a Scutosaurus. Maybe they'll consider completing the Permian set with an Estemmenosuchus as well?

Another thing about the Irritator, I get why Mattel decided to go with that abomination. The higher ups probably specifically requested to make it more distinct from the 3 other spinosaurids in the toyline, so that it could get more sales. Kinda like why they gave the Tarbosaurus unnecessary dorsal spikes.

Blade-of-the-Moon

It's not like Tarbosaurus in art never had them..

austrosaurus

The Majungasaurus is the only one of the new reveals that looks half decent, aside from the colouration. The Irritator is basically just a retool of the Suchomimus, the Troodon looks somehow even worse than the game design, and the new Tyrannosaurus is a big step back in quality, almost to Hasbro levels. I've never been a big collector of Jurassic Park merch because of the low accuracy and realism, but this is a disappointment even for me.

Well, the Tyrannosaurus is supposed to be based on her depiction in Camp Cretaceous, so it is not Mattel's fault. And it is also still much better than Hasbro's junk.

The Tarbosaurus in Jurassic World Alive has them as well, so there is at least some consistency here.

I actually really like the Irritator, though the head does look a bit weird. I don't think the new T.rex looks too bad, but the head is a little cartoonish. I'm the same way with the Majunga. That raptor repaint from that IG story from Mattel looks decent from what I can see of it. I like the new Mussusaurus and Gallimimus (because you know, kenner), but stuff like the 2nd new Alberto and Trike really aren't that appealing.
Most (if not all) Rebor figures are mid

, almost to Hasbro levels.

I think now is a good moment to take a look back to 2015 and realize how good we have it with Mattel.

CityRaptor

Well, that's terrible.

Seriously, people should think a bit more before claiming that something is Hasbro-Level bad.

Comparing any Mattel T. rex to any Hasbro one is like comparing steak to McDonald's patties.

Mattel figures do not have the bad quality, brittle materials, action features that break on sight, and overall ugliness of hasbro figures.

I think the issue here is that despite been good quality toys, the stylization in a somewhat cartoon-like style of some of the toys, as well as the use of very bright colors makes a great contrast when compared to other Mattel figures that look like they came out of the movies, making them look worse and sometimes lazy. Therefore we think they are bad quality toys. When it reality, all the figures are solid ones, but with diferent aesthetics that not always look good together.

The line needs to be more consistent with its style.

I agree with that.  Most of the figures that actually appear in the film look good because the film designs were good and they scanned those models.  I hate to down an artist or artists, especially because some of the figures do look good, in sculpt if not paint.  But maybe the production company/Universal needs to work closer with Mattel to get more film quality designs?

Blade-of-the-Moon

More new pics.  The Sinoceratops is very nice.

That's a pretty good JW Sinoceratops I must say. Though the frill horns should've been more curved, and the nasal horn is too long.
Could've used more colour/patterns on the body, but overall the paint job is pleasing to the eyes. I wonder if Mattel will market this as a Pachyrhinosaurus this time ::)

The scutosaurus looks REALLY good. Surprisingly accurate for a non-movie design. Kind of wish it was biege and dull green, but this colour scheme serves it's purpose well enough.

Alioramus looks pretty disappointing, but I dont think we were all expecting much after seeing that bobble-headed silhouette. Should've been a Savage Strike figure.

While I dont care for most of the retools/repaints, that brown Stygimoloch is vastly better than the original orange paint scheme Mattel kept pumping out.

Are those feathers?! To think the second dinosaur in JP to have feathers would be a Tyrannosaur, how ironic.
