I honestly think the blind bag mini of bumpy would be closer to scale to both the children sized figures and the ankylosaurus roarivores.
At this point, I don't think Mattel grasps that they can put small dinosaurs into blind bags (that would scale perfectly well with the humans) rather than force them into being oversized Attack Packs. Notable examples include:
- Protoeratops
- Coelurus
- Ornitholestes
- Mononykus
- Rhamphorhynchus

Haven't heard anything, the next choice if they did one would be Apatosaurus I think.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin, interesting about the Sinoceratops and Pachyrhinosaurus. I suspect something similar happened with the Ornitholestes. Remember when there were rumors of a Segisaurus, but then we got an Ornitholestes instead? The figure looks much more like a Segisaurus, but almost nothing like an Ornitholestes.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres Yeah it's possible something like that happened, though granted their Proceratosaurus kind of resembles the WWD Ornitholestes more then it does its namesake (despite the relatively fragmentary nature of Proceratosaurus). Kind of a shame it "isn't" Segisaurus what with that coming from the film materials.

On a similar note I wonder what their Siats is largely based off (if anything at all), with how fragmentary it is. The closest I can think of is perhaps its smaller relative(?) Neovenator, which has associated cranial remains.

This year's SDCC exclusive has been revealed, and it's an interesting figure of Nedry. Pre-orders going up at 9amPT/12pm ET on Entertainment Earth (which does do international shipping).

https://www.entertainmentearth.com/product/MTGVD14R?id=CO-811285408

The product description:

Quote
NOTE: This item was originally slated as a San Diego Comic-Con 2020 Exclusive for Mattel and Entertainment Earth. It will not include an SDCC@Home sticker, nor a Convention Exclusive sticker.

  • Capture an iconic moment in Jurassic Park with this exclusive action figure!
  • Features movie-true deco, film-accurate accessories, and deluxe detail.
  • Packaging lights up and speaks authentic Dennis Nedry dialog!
  • Measuring 3 3/4-inches tall, it captures the spirit of the franchise legacy.
  • Packaging is based on the Barbasol shaving can seen on-screen!
Mattel / Entertainment Earth Convention Exclusive! "Nedry! Nedry! We've got a Nedry figure here!" Based on the original Jurassic Park film, this Jurassic Park Barbasol Dennis Nedry Action Figure - 2020 Convention Exclusive is a must-have collectible for fans. In his splashy Hawaiian shirt and shorts, he measures about 3 3/4-inches tall and comes with film-accurate accessories that include the bag of money from Dodgson, a piece of pie, and the Barbasol can of embryos so you can reenact your favorite scenes. The 7 1/2-inch tall packaging is based on the Barbasol Beard Buster shaving can seen in the movie - it lights up and speaks authentic Dennis Nedry dialog! This exclusive figure is available for a limited time only, so grab yours before it goes extinct and you miss out. Colors and decorations may vary. Ages 8 and up.

This cool Nedry figure is hidden in a Barbasol can that holds him and serves as a display case. For extra fun, twist the base of the can package to trigger a dramatic light effect and reveal the figure! Press the top of the can to hear these iconic lines Nedry says in the movie:

"Ah, ah, ah! You didn't say the magic word!"
"Dodgson! Dodgson! We've got Dodgson here!"
"Don't get cheap on me, Dodgson."
"Ah, no wonder you're extinct."
"I'm totally unappreciated in my time."

Relive the exciting big-screen action of Jurassic Park with this highly collectible Dennis Nedry figure! The fan-favorite villain and devious programmer is inspired by the scene when Nedry meets Dodgson for the cash-for-embryos deal in the original film. As Nedry enjoys a nice seaside breakfast, Dodgson shows up with a bag of money and the modified Barbasol can to hold the embryos.

More pics at the link, but I think these will do for now.

Now my thoughts:

I'm really glad that they made a figure of Nedry in the 3.75 scale now, but of course the downside is that this will be a limited release and although Entertainment Earth does offer international shipping, it won't be cheap, so this may leave folks out on getting this as with Hammond last year (if not this year, despite being repacked, as it is only expected to be carried at Target stores at the moment). Hopefully they will release Nedry again at some point, although I'd much rather see a version of him with the raincoat (like the Amber Collection version), with similar accessories (dock sign, can, and maybe the stick, since the Amber Collection one strangely neglected to include that), perhaps with a Dilophosaurus (maybe a repaint of the new sculpt releasing later this year, if not one of the others). This is still a good start, as it means the tooling for the head, etc, is there. I'm sure they are aware of the demand for such a version (what with how many folks asking for such on this reveal, and on the Amber Collection's reveal), if they were able to finally get the JP raptors done (and with a repacked Hammond and cane accessory), which many folks were asking for. It's just going to be a matter of time (next year perhaps).

Ha!

Hahah!

Hahahahah!

Mattel is so predictable! I am not even angry at this point ::)

Will I bit the bullet and pay those 50$ because of entertainment earth´s EXPENSIVE shipping?  ::)

So, um, why isn't this a regular Mainline release?

Hopefully we'll get a AP Dilophosaurus repaint + Nedry set so that more people will have the chance at acquiring a mainline Nedry figure.
Kinda like the Legacy JP Raptor set + Hammond.

EE's shipping prices are essentially extortion.

You're right avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy the crazy scale pains me too. I like organized scale (even if I don't have huge scale restraints) but I mean, that Rhamphorhynchus is the size of a man!

Ha! That Nedry figure sure is great! I'm going to have to consider this one, especially since I read the preorder price is $20, not too bad considering the packaging and everything.

I like the costume they went with for this release. Great move for an exclusive figure. This is an important scene, definitely with memorable props, but zero dinosaurs or action. That leaves a nice future opportunity to release a different version of Nedry in this scale.

I appreciate how Mattel is continuing to test the waters with new humans by offering them this way. It's a bit of a shame, but we the consumers collectively told Mattel that the humans just aren't profitable to market on store shelves.

Mattel clearly overestimated the demand for the thousands of Owen variants and nameless mercs. To this day I still don't understand why they thought it was a good idea to flood shelves with these, then proceed to push the blame onto consumers that "humans aren't profitable".

Not packing mainline humans with interesting dinosaurs (e.g. actually unique sculpts like Microceratus, Compsognathus. Rather than lazy shrunken down trikes and stegos) probably contributed to low sales as well. Hell, 2 Owen variants dont even have dinosaurs in them.

It's obviously not a normal one but a Mahar.

( For whatever reason it is really hard to find art of those where they look like Burroughs described them )

Pretty cool.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Can't blame Mattel too much, Universal sticks their nose in heavily where they have no business being. You can't just pay for a license anymore and do what you like, a bunch of studio execs have to tell you what to do with it too.

Not at all, it was lagging hard at 11:59 EST . It was also a limit of one per client. I'd say people were signing out and back in, creating duplicate accounts, ect..

On the one hand, I could wait to see if they release a set later on just like they are going to do with Hammond but on the other hand I don´t even know if that set will be available in my country so even if it that future re-release happens, that means that I would have to import it and even if I get someone to help me it may result being as expensive as getting this exclusive one now.

But also I don't value Nedry as much as other characters so not getting him at all is not that terrible to me, but on the other hand my collector instincts want me to get it.

And on top of that, because of the current economic situation, I have restricted myself a lot from collecting and while I don´t have any financial issues I kinda feel bad expending an extra on this even though is my own money and my family told me I can do whatever I want.

Also I would prefer him wearing the clothes he had on Isla Nublar instead of these vocational ones.

PD: That black packaging is very sexy.

Faelrin

That stuff sold out fast (like in the hour or less then the hour it was up). I managed to get one in the nick of time, after like twenty minutes of trying to sign in, and go to the cart to checkout. I hope anyone here who wanted one was able to order it in time.

I was kind of surprised at how limited this one was too (no surprise it was one per customer, but I have no doubts scalpers and collectors will find a way around that), even for a SDCC exclsuive type thing. Last year EE allowed people to order up to six of Hammond I think, and at the con itself it was 5 per person.

Damn, not even a day to think about it.

Well, there it goes, fingers crossed for a wider and less premium release sometime in the future.

Loon

According to Gizmodo, you'll be able to order one again in July on Mattel Creations, which I assume is like their Hasbro Pulse.

QuotePre-orders for the $20 figure will be available later today (12pm EST) on Entertainment Earth, and later on Mattel Creations come July, but collectors are encouraged to follow @MattelCreations on Twitter for more details on availability[...]

Thank God, I almost had a heart attack about missing this. Well, because of that and my general Nedry-like lifestyle.

avatar_Loon @Loon I just found about that through an IGN article, and was coming to share that. You beat me to the punch though. Glad there's going to be an another opportunity to get this for folks that missed getting one (but definitely know that scalpers are going to be trying too).

I'm also sorry to hear you missed out on this the first time around. Hope you can score it then.
