Battat Dilophosaurus versions

Hey everyone, hoping you can help me out with a question...

I just recently realized there are two versions of the non-mini Battat Dilophosaurus. The one I have is much smaller and seems to have a totally different sculpt. I believe this one was sculpted by Dan LoRusso. Here's a pic of this version, which I'm assuming was the first version:

(There was a second version of this sculpt with a square base. Both seem less common online than the resculpt).

The version I had never seen before is a much different sculpt and looks closer to Greg Wenzel's style. Based on this pic it is also much larger. You can see it's larger than the Battat Cryolophosaurus. My Dilophosaurus is smaller than the Cryo. But, once again, it's definitely not the mini.

Can anybody confirm which is newer, and who sculpted which one? It seems like the two Battat sculpters were "trading" resculpts. IIRC, Wenzel did the original T. rex and LoRusso did the second version, which became the Terra version. Are there any other figures from the first wave besides T. rex and Dilophosaurus that were totally redone?

As far as I know, there are three versions of the Dilophosaurus. The Version one came out in 1994, then a retooling added the base turning it into version 2, released in 96.

The version three was completely reesculpted because the base didn't fix the stability issues from previous versions, that's why it looks very different. It is indeed a bit larger than v1 and v2.

Out of the original Battat line, only Tyrannosaurus and Dilophosaurus were completely redone.  From what I can remember the remade versions were done by the same sculptor who did the original.  So Dan LoRusso did all the Dilophosaurus, and Greg Wenzel did all the T. rex.

There is another version of dilophosaurus with foot of snow that fortunately I have in my collection, it is equal to the first version but with that singularity. In short there are three versions of Battat dilophosaurus.

Thanks! I thought I had remembered some old thread where it was mentioned Dan did the later version of rex but must have been mistaken.

I remember that Dan said he didn't do the T. rex in Reply #185 here: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=507.msg109483#msg109483

That's the thread, I must have misremembered the bit about Dan sculpting the T. rex statue the Terra version paint job was based on.
