Hello there!

I'm Sara (big surprise... just look at the silly screen name) and I'm not entirely new to this forum.
I've been lurking for quite a while, but since I've become more active regarding my dino collection I figured now was the perfect time to join for good :)

My love for dinosaurs started in my childhood, which I think is rather typical. As a little girl I was a massive fan of Land Before Time and later on Jurassic Park (I wanted the raptors to win)... also typical. I loved spending time in museums and took an interest to drawing. Then my dinobsession lay dormant for a while until much later I started studying design and one of my classes was about paleontology, speculative illustration and how we portray dinosaurs. Tadaa, now the interest in dinosaurs was back in full force!

Since I was already enjoying toys and collectibles it was obvious I had to get a few dinosaur models as well and now here I am :))

I collect any dino that strikes my fancy, but I have a soft spot for Liliensternus and Parasaurolophus - the dinos of my childhood.
I love looking at repaints, dioramas and custom work as well as other artworks.

See you around!

Hi Sara! Yes, the German community is growing and I also think your screen name is cool :) .
If you're into design you should see irimali's thread: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=1617.msg39843#msg39843
But since you've been lurking for some time you probably already know him.

CityRaptor

Welcome to the forum!

So has anyone counted how many of us are in this forum right now?
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

There's a thread about nationalities here: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=5048
I'll respond there in more detail.

Also, my wife is German. So, if I'm the father of the DTF, she could be considered the mother: there's German DNA in this forum. :))

Yes! I have been watching his art thread and also had his Miragaia design on my wishlist forever (one of these days I need to order it but there are always so many things on the wishlist and so little money in my dino piggy bank).

Hi and welcome. I'm german aswell.

Reading your first post, i can relate to this. My Love for prehistoric Animals was on fire again, when i met a friend, that studies the Skull of Spinosaurus.

Have good time and schönen Sonntag noch.

Gothmog the Baryonyx

Welcome to the forum

On a side note, I almost said "welcome to One Ring" that would not make sense here of course

It's great how interests can just be re-awakened like that. Proof that some hobbies can't be outgrown, whether people consider them childish or not.

Maybe you somehow sensed I was a LotR fan as well :))
Sadly no longer active in the fandom but I still love the books and movies. If I find a LotR creature at the fleamarket I can hardly pass it up.

Couldn´t agree more, well said!

I wonder if Schleich and Bullyland might be to blame for that...

I always blame the Jurassic movies for producing new collectors. Their toy line is massive.
But Schleich has been doing things a little different with their dinos as of late. I know their in-house requirements for horses are still crazy inconsistent.

Our local museum sells Papo instead of Schleich in an act of betrayal ;D
When a museum thinks Jurassic World style is more suited for their shop than their own country's "educational toys" I have to wonder.

Sounds great. Its almost impossible to find something different than Schleich in Stores here. At least it feels like that. Museeums or Special Parks are something different, but yeah.

Hi Sarapaurolophus! I'm a brand new member here and happened to notice, that we enjoyed the same favorite movies as little girls.☺️
