It's amazing to think about all the releases since this poll was launched. Would love to vote for the PNSO Centrosaurus. On the plus side, I now have the Battat Styracosaurus.  8)

Yes, looking at any of the top 10 polls for specific groups brings to mind impressive new figures of that group which in most cases we didn't imagine at the time of the poll's creation, I think.  For this poll the PNSO Styracosaurus strikes me as a sublime figure that would probably prove popular.  I hope the time will come for new versions of polls like this ceratopsoid one, and the deinonychosaur one where we can vote for figures that weren't in the original poll.

Congratulations on getting the Battat Styracosaurus, it's a beautiful figure, I like it a lot.

Faelrin

Congrats on getting that avatar_Gwangi @Gwangi.

I'm also shocked to see a BotM figure rated higher (considering the bias against action figures here) then the Safari Ltd one. Not significantly so, but well there it is. And yes I mean the Styracosaurus.

That said a good portion of the BotM ceratopsians weren't yet released when this poll was made so things like the adult Triceratops, etc weren't able to be represented here. Never mind the PNSO figures that released since. A bit strange we haven't had a single Safari Ltd one in the past three years since this poll opened up (and with many being retired so recently too, like the Einiosaurus, could it be a changing market?). I do hope we get one next year, like Chasmosaurus, to fill out the Dinosaur Park Formation displays. Alternatively I'd take one from PNSO too (especially considering they already did a mini).

Oh yes, well spotted avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin, regarding the BotM Styracosaurus getting more votes than the Safari one.  I like the BotM one but not its colouration and I like the colouration of the Safari but not its sculpt.  Funny.  I like both in the Battat Styracosaurus though.  And yes, there has been a lot of good ceratopsoid figures from PNSO and BotM that would change the results of this poll quite a lot.  Hopefully the time will come for a new ceratopsoid poll, but before that we need these existing polls to be completed!

Faelrin

I love both the BotM one and Safari Ltd equally. The BotM serves my articulated dinosaur (and other) collection well, while the Safari Ltd one fits better alongside my other static models, like the PNSO hadrosaurids. The Battat Styracosaurus is also gold, especially for the time it released, and like you said has a great sculpt and coloration to it. No wonder it is one of the highest in the poll, beat out only by the Safari Ltd Nasutoceratops by one vote. I honestly considered hunting for it, before either of those two were revealed and eventually released (or the CollectA Deluxe, which I think is still one of CollectA's best ceratopsians).

It would be nice to see a new poll with many of these new additions in a few years time. Give this one time to settle, and maybe some other surprises will be out by then too.

Since avatar_Gwangi @Gwangi has kindly offered to make Youtube videos for our forum's top 10 polls, I'm going to restart this ceratopsoid poll too so it's much more relevant rather than keep it without newer figures.

I've pruned the very long shortlist to remove some figures that had hardly any or no votes in the previous version of this poll to reduce the considerable length of the shortlist, and I've added new figures to the shortlist!  If you'd like to vote for a figure not in the shortlist of the first post, suggest it in this thread!

I've also locked the poll and removed all votes.  I'll update it with the new figures and re-open it in a week.

avatar_Sim @Sim Should the BotM Fan's choice repaints be differentiated from the originals? Also what about the 1/18 Protoceratops and Psittacosaurus figures? Or should those be included with the originals?

Could you also add the Mattel Jurassic World 2019 Dino Rivals Nasutoceratops and 2021 Dino Escape Pentaceratops? I know there's loads of other good choices in the poll too, but these two are easily some of their best ceratopsian figures to date, and I would like to vote for them.

I've added the JW Nasutoceratops and Pentaceratops.  Thanks for reminding me to list the two BotM Styracosaurus sculpts separately.  Just repaints will be included with the original figure as one entry.  This was decided on for these polls by Dr Admin who explained that otherwise a sculpt's votes will be diluted.

The BotM Psittacosaurus and Protoceratops aren't going to be included as they aren't ceratopsoids.  Basal ceratopsians have their own poll: https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=3066.0

Faelrin

avatar_Sim @Sim Oh right. Thanks for pointing it out. I read the title wrong.

I think maybe a note could be added that says either/both versions perhaps? So folks are aware? I do think it is a good idea to bundle them as the sculpts are otherwise the same though.

Quote from: BlueKrono on February 21, 2021, 12:20:56 AMI certainly would have voted for Marx ceratopsians had they been an option. Charming old-school toys...

It's kind of a bummer the next wave of BotM aren't included, but I can understand since they haven't been released quite yet.
avatar_BlueKrono @BlueKrono want to nominate the Marx guys? And maybe some of the BotM that haven't been nominated yet?

I certainly would. If Trike is out I would nominate the Marx Styracosaurus. I only have two BotM, but I think they're great and would certainly vote for them: Wendiceratops and Sinoceratops.

I've added the Marx Styracosaurus to the shortlist.  Triceratops got its own poll so it won't be included in this one.  All the adult BotM ceratopsoids are in the shortlist.

Is there anything speaking against including Kaiyodo's large Anchiceratops in the shortlist?

Sim

This poll is only for ceratopsoids, and Protoceratops isn't one.

I've now added the Kaiyodo large Anchiceratops to the poll. :)

Sim

It's been about a week, and I've now updated the poll with new figures and it's open for voting now! :)
