Dinotoyblog ratings not working

I've been putting this off for several years now but had to bite the bullet eventually – I've changed the star ratings system on the Dinosaur Toy Blog.

The old system was broken because we had exceeded the number of allowed votes. So, the only way to make it work again was to pay (nope), or start from scratch with a different system. I loath to lose all of the ratings that visitors have submitted over the past decade but I'm afraid it's the only viable option.

To put a more positive spin on this, it will be fun to go through the blog reviews to add our star ratings again! So, get voting!

I'm starting to work my way through the reviews, sequentially, and it's very cumbersome, for two reasons. First, I have to laboriously work may way through all the material that I've already rated, three pages at a time, over and over, because the " ... " between the numbers doesn't open up to reveal the sequence of numbers in between the first three numbers and the last one (140) as it does in the "members" page listings.

Secondly, the given ratings are always hidden at least once on a given page, forcing me to open up the review of that figure to access the rating stars. Slows things down, again.

Working my way along. Have got up to page 30, then started going backwards from page 140, down to 125, so far. Haven't run into the second issue working this way. Better, but odd. It's a lot of fun though.

I've been keeping the DTB open on my browser. I started with page one and got to 75, then accidently closed it out and started working backwards from the last page. It has been a fun trip through memory lane, exploring the hallowed halls of the DTB.

This might help – you can manually go to any page by changing the number in the url.
e.g. For Page 2 go to: https://dinotoyblog.com/page/2/
For Page 67 change the 2 to 67: https://dinotoyblog.com/page/67/

That's odd. I know some of @Fembrogon's posts were missing reviews on the archive pages because there's an incompatibility with  manually input excerpts (as Fembrogon used to do). That might explain your problem, but they should all be fixed by now. Maybe there are other manually input excerpts by other users. If you encounter any more missing ratings please can you point me to them so I can fix them? Thanks.

That might explain your problem, but they should all be fixed by now. Maybe there are other manually input excerpts by other users. Good news of a sort - the missing ratings bars  have re-appeared. problem resolved itself, though I have no idea why. Weird and wonderful ... .

Can't be 100% sure, but this morning, nothing from pages 1-30 was amiss, so either only yours had an issue (which I doubt), or others corrected theirs too ( still rather unlikely), or some other factor is/was at work. All's well that ends well.

Yeah, sounds to me like it was just Fembrogon's posts, which are now fixed. Anyway, as long as the problem is fixed it doesn't matter, but do let me know if you encounter it again.

This is how I went wrong - opened a review, read it, then voted. When I went back to the page, I noticed that my vote hadn't registered immediately, so I voted again. Upon doing this, both of my votes registered. Henceforth, I only vote on the page, not in the review.

This is how I went wrong - opened a review, read it, then voted. When I went back to the page, I noticed that my vote hadn't registered immediately, so I voted again. Upon doing this, both of my votes registered. Henceforth, I only vote on the page, not in the review.

The rating system now checks your IP address when you vote, so you can only vote once. Unless you change your IP. If someone REALLY wants to game the system they can but that's true across the entire internet and at least now it takes effort!

It was such a lovely thing to do. I forgot about so many beautiful figures. For me resetting the ratings has been a blessing. Thanks for the hard work!
