On 2016 I saw a picture on a forum from China: it was about 6 big figures from an unknown brand.
It was the first time I saw those models.
The picture:

Thanks to some DTF members I knew that the brand was PNSO ( Peking Natural Science-art Organization ).
A completely new brand from China entered the market.

At the time I didn't know about Aliexpress and it was difficult (and expensive  ::) ) to buy those figures.

Those figures were quite big and made from hard vinyl.
These are the models:

FIRST WAVE OF BIG VINYL FIGURES

Huanghetitan  ( 1:30 )

Euhelopus  ( 1:27 )

Shantungosaurus

Mandschurosaurus

Lufengosaurus

..later PNSO modified the paint scheme with a brighter green:

Tyrannosaurus

Even Tyrannosaurus was later modified :

Few months later new figures were added to the line:

Triceratops  ( 1:20 )

A wonderful  Chungkingosaurus

Basilosaurus

Megalodon

Resin Statues

Almost at the same time, PNSO was selling high-end (and really expensive  ;) ) statues:

Mamenchisaurus hochuanensis  (1:20)

"Age of the Dinosaurs" (1:35)  Huayangosaurus taibaii

"Age of the Dinosaurs" (1:20)  Tsintaosaurus spinorhinus

..thanks to a DTF member, I was lucky enough to buy one of them at a reasonable price..

On 2020, PNSO did an announcements for two new resins.
From what I know, they showed at Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair only..

Quinzhousaurus & Nankangia

"Backfire" ( Yangchuanosaurus & Huayangosaurus)

First Wave Mid-Sized PVC Figures

On 2017 PNSO released a special edition Mamenchisaurus for the China National Philatelic Corporation

I was able to buy it with the help of a DTF member from China:

Later PNSO re-released it for its regular line of figures (with a different packaging):

Er-Ma the Mamenchisaurus (1:35)

In the meantime over the web there were previews of a new Tyrannosaurus from PNSO:

Here it is: Wilson

Later Wilson was re-released in almost 2 versions (with and without base/ different colors):

Obviously also a Triceratops was released: Doyle

The inevitable "diorama":

PNSO did a limited edition (100) about Doyle:

Probably there was also a Special Edition about PNSO Spinosaurus (but I'm not totally sure about that):

The book about Marine Reptiles is available in Chinese, French and Italian language.
The one about Flying Reptiles is only available in Chinese.

These figures were also individually re-released:

More minis were individually released..

This is an incredible resource, thanks for putting it together! Hopefully we can keep this thread updated with new releases and color variants so future collectors don't need to do archaeological research for PNSO the way we have to for certain other lines!

Is that a large scale Tuojiangosaurus in the background?! Huh, I wonder how long the idea of that figure has been in circulation for.

Incredible work on putting this together. Very impressive, thorough and helpful. Must have been very time consuming to do I imagine. Thank you so much for going through the effort of taking this on. And of course your lovely images are very helpful as well.

I did notice the (adult) Sinoceratops is missing from the medium section. It is now available on Amazon at least, so has been released now. Granted there is also the Edmontonia, but I don't believe that has been released or even formerly announced just yet.

It must have taken you hours to put this together. Thank you. I loved scrolling through, especially being reminded of when we first heard about PNSO. Oh the difficulties and worry of acquiring those first models!  It was so stressful trying to transfer money to China!

Anyway, what a wonderful resource this will be.

Yes, you're totally right.
It's already on my reference album on Flickr: I simply skipped it by a mistake..
I'm adding it now.
(..also I already ordered it on Aliexpress  :-[ ).
Thanks

Wow, truly an amazing thread. Nice work avatar_RobinGoodfellow @RobinGoodfellow!

A lot of the older figures, like their vinyls and larger figures, I never knew existed.

Carnoking

PNSO is an incredible company, and to have this thread showcasing their journey is amazing. Thank you for doing this, I'm looking forward to what's to come in the future from them!
Also... I STILL NEED THAT HUANGHETITAN!

terrorchicken

great job, this will be very helpful! Now if only PNSO offered free shipping on Amazon again. :(

Doyouthinkhesaurus Rex

Where did you get that alternate color original tripoding Wilson from? I had never seen it!

Also if we're adding alternate colors, they changed the colors of Duke the Spinops. Mine is a lighter green with more noticeable back stripes, as well as small white stripes on the frill. Theres no orange on the side of the belly either.

KeU

Magnificent effort.
Thank you for putting in your time on the PNSO figures.
I enjoyed walking through this journey PNSO took us on.
And there is more to come!!

For the sake of completeness, in this interview sculptor Zhao Chuang talks a little about how PNSO came to be. Relevant quote:

QuoteOur project is called "PNSO's Scientific Art Projects Plan: Stories on Earth (2010—2070)," created by me and my partner, Ms. YANG Yang, in 2010. YANG, a writer, happened to work for my publishing house in 2009 as a text editor. I was an art editor, so we got to know each other. Both of us were fresh graduates then, and we would talk about our hobbies, career plans, and aspirations. YANG is a small girl with great inner strength, is persistent, and works very hard. I can feel that she has a deep love for writing and a rare obsession in perfecting her pieces. Our editing work was somewhat related to what our real interests were, but I felt that she wanted much more, something bigger. I was good at painting ancient creatures, but not so good at writing well about the prehistoric world to let potential readers know about them. Then I developed an idea: I could work with YANG; I would paint, she would write, and together we could do something great. When I talked to her about it, she caught on and said she had that in mind, too. So, we both resigned and officially started PNSO, and that was the beginning of our 10-year cooperation.

I love references threads like this, so helpful and fun to look at the photos.
It's also a great way to see all the figures in one place.
Thanks for compiling, photographing, and adding all the information!👍🏼😃
