Love seeing you have another round of these. The first batch was incredible, and I'm super stoked to see these as well. Especially the Acrocanthosaurus one. I also like that plesiosaur under the ice sneaking a peek, and the fighting dinosaurs recreation.

avatar_Gwangi @Gwangi That's incredibly high praise; thank you so much! :D I honestly think I'll keep coming back to this series every couple years for as long as I'm still animating. They're far too much fun. And yes, that is indeed Scutellosaurus.

avatar_DefinitelyNOTDilo @DefinitelyNOTDilo I mean, of course you'd be excited for that one! XD

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin The Acrocanthosaurus episode has been the most informative to animate. I've always found it hard to imagine how even giants like Acrocanthosaurus could tackle animals as large as Sauroposeidon, but through animating this film I've learnt a lot about how these two gigantic creatures could (and likely did) interact.

Pliosaurking

Wow this looks phenomenal! I quite enjoyed the first series, and I'm quite excited for this one!
Great job avatar_DavidJamesArmsby @DavidJamesArmsby!

Quote from: DavidJamesArmsby on March 28, 2025, 06:50:08 PMThank you for the comments. I've been working very hard on this series ever since Volume 1 finished up, and I'm really glad people are excited for Volume 2! :D I'm super proud of it so far. It's like twice the size of Volume 1 in terms of ambition, scope, and even length. These films are going to be an average of 10+ minutes each I think.

avatar_DinoToyForum @DinoToyForum I'm genuinely intimidated by what you may say in regard to accuracy when it comes to said plesiobobs! XD I'm relatively knowledgeable when it comes to dinosaurs, but I'm still learning about pliosaurs and plesiosaurs.

Join the club!  :||

My first impression from the trailer is that you've done your research, so no need to worry! :) Still, feel free to reach out any time if you ever have any plesiosaur questions.

Glad to hear those reviews were of some good to you! Hopefully listening to my prattling on about dinosaur toys didn't get too old.

Keep up the fantastic work! You'll always have an eager audience for it here!

New analysis video by Blayken!:

avatar_DavidJamesArmsby @DavidJamesArmsby Good to see you here again :) No worries if you can't answer my questions b/c of spoilers, but just in case...:

-What's the overarching theme of Vol. 2? I ask b/c Vol. 2 seems to take place all over Mesozoic earth (as opposed to Maastrichtian N.America), so I'm guessing its episodes are connected by a different theme than Vol. 1.

-Will we see more of your Deinos than what's shown in the trailer? I hope so b/c Deinonychus is my favorite non-bird dino ( https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=10177.0 ) ( https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=10177.msg380382#msg380382 ) & I'd love to finally see a good modern-style dino doc depiction of it (My thoughts on LooP: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUGbih5ciic ). I'm very optimistic about your Deinos' very hawk-like appearance/behavior (E.g. The male bringing food & nest material to the slightly larger & darker female, who does most of the incubating). Their wholesomeness reminds me of Shadow & Jackie ;) :

-Have you read all our Vol. 1 posts? Just making sure b/c I still think you're "too hard on [your]self when[...referring...]to certain aspects as "inaccuracies" just b/c they're unknown", especially "Our Frozen Past" ( https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=9746.msg389684#msg389684 ).

H @HD-man
-Vol. 1 was all set in Late Cretaceous North America for no other reason than I knew the most about that time and place. I set out to make Vol. 2 bigger and better than Vol. 1, and diversity of locations, species, and time periods was a huge priority. I actually banned myself from setting any of the five films in "Late Cretaceous North America" as it's my dinosaur comfort zone.
-All of the animals featured in the trailer have more screen time in the final films, including Deinonychus! :D There're also a handful more species that will appear in the series that don't show up in the trailer.
-I have not read all of the Vol. 1 posts, as I only joined this forum late last year. But thank you. I also think I was a little hard on myself in terms of speculative behaviours and accuracy while working on Vol. 1.

avatar_DavidJamesArmsby @DavidJamesArmsby Many thanks for the reply! Similar to Gwanji, I'm looking even more forward to Vol. 2 than the new WWD, especially the "Two Titans" sketchbook & especially given the Mandez stuff ( https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=11121.msg392389#msg392389 ). BTW, avatar_Gwangi @Gwangi , have you shown Vol. 1 to your daughter yet? Just wondering since it's been a while.

To add to the Deino part of my previous post, compare LooP's wonky-looking long-distance runners to The Chickenosaurus's more accurate-looking ambush hunters:

Haha, afraid not. Her interest in dinosaurs is over and she's extremely sensitive about seeing animals get hurt. I've had Prehistoric Planet on around her and she's just not into it. I'm not going to force Dinosauria onto her. My last hope for triggering an interest in dinosaurs is probably Jurassic Park. She turns 10 this year, I was 9 when I saw it. I'm worried about how the cow and goat scenes will go down though.

Hopefully my younger daughter develops a greater interest in pre-history.

She might relate to the Lex character.  ^-^ Just resist the temptation to say "what's the matter kid, you never had lamb chops?"

She might actually relate to Lex, she doesn't have a computer but she likes technology.

I was a vegetarian for 10 years, I can relate to her concern for animals. It's not a bad trait to have.

Agreed. I haven't eaten red meat since I was a child. I was a strict pescetarian until I went to China in 2017 to prepare for my Dinosaurs of China exhibition, where I felt obliged to eat a little poultry out of politeness and not wanting to go hungry! Since then, I occasionally eat chicken. Sorry for derailing! Back to the topic at hand!

avatar_DavidJamesArmsby @DavidJamesArmsby When you're not too busy, I have 2 more questions:

-1) Is it safe to assume that, like Vol. 1's eps, Vol. 2's will air in chronological order? Just making sure.

-2) Is it safe to assume that each Vol. 2 ep is based on a real-life fossil? It seems like 2 eps are based on the Paluxy River Trackway & the "Fighting Dinosaurs", so I figured maybe every ep does something similar.

I can't say I ever noticed that the first Volume was in chronological order, honestly. That was a total coincidence and is news to me! XD
This is the order of the upcoming episodes, their names (working title means title is not final), and star species. They're definitely not in chronological order this time.

Episode 1: "Terrible Lizards" - Megalosaurus/Iguanodon - Middle Jurassic/Early Cretaceous, England.
Episode 2: "Hunted by Moonlight" - Scutellosaurus - Early Jurassic, North America.
Episode 3: "Down Under" (working title) - Kronosaurus - Early Cretaceous, Australia.
Episode 4: "Cruel Sands" (working title) - Velociraptor - Late Cretaceous, Mongolia.
Episode 5: "Two Titans" - Sauroposeidon/Acrocanthosaurus - Early Cretaceous, North America.

Each episode has a couple references to real-life fossils, just like Volume 1. But the only film that's really based directly on a single fossil specimen is the "Fighting Dinosaurs" one. Old Buck had the "Hannah" specimen in it, but I'd hardly call it "based" on the specimen. They're more like references. The supposed Acrocanthosaurus/Sauroposeiden hunting trackways found in Texas for example are going to be referenced in the series, but they were found in the Glen Rose Formation, and the film will be set in the Antlers Formation.

thebermuda303

I don't know if you plan to make a third season, but making something based in Nemegt would be awesome. A whole bunch of weirdos and super important fossils were found there so that could give some interesting ideas. (I have all the reference you could need hehehehehe)

Ooh, "Down Under" definitely sounds intriguing.
