Why do Mattel Spinosaurs feel much more cartooony compared to everything else sculpt-wise?

I don't know about that. Surely like the Irriatator is a bit. The Bary and Spinosaurus itself aren't bad at all.  When they have film assests to work from the sculpts are generally better, when they don't it's a crap shoot. Some are good others terrible.   I need to see clearer pics of this one. Right now I'm 50/50.

Spoiler
We got Siamosaurus pic. :)

A quadrupedal spinosaur, interesting. I wonder if Mattel would have the guts to eventually do a modern Spinosaurus. They could just bill it as "Spinosaurus V. 2.0" or something like that.
I doubt Universal would ever let them.

More Captivz blind eggs. Really wish they'd just release these in a collector's box set or something.

Regardless, the dominion sculpts look alright. Not as bad as the new sculpts from the last few waves.

Kenner rex too?
That's been confirmed to be a fan repaint. From what I've read it was just shown next to it to show the size. I almost thought the Carnotaurus was a repaint (fan or official) of the Sound Surge one due to its small size but the sculpt is different in some ways.

That's interesting, you'd think Mattel would just recycle the Camp Cretaceous sculpt for a JWD repaint. Thanks for sharing avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin.

So if that's the EC rex, then that new Carnotaurus toy is a LOT smaller than its predecessors. Not sure how I feel about the sunken in, rectangular fenestrae either. Reminds me of the original Ceratosaurus sculpt with all those unnecessary dents in its head.

This probably belongs in to the Mattel 2021 board but since we abandoned that one and don't want to resurrect it, I will post it here, as it also works as a warning for international collectors.

Last year, I ordered the Mattel Creations exclusive Ray Arnold set, time passes and the set gets released but I have no news about it. Time passes and still no news, I contact them through their website, they don't answer. time passes, still no news, I contact them again, still no answer.

And now, I finally decided to call their customer service in risk on getting charged for an international call. And after talking with them and waiting for quite the time I finally resolved the issue (kinda). And you know what was the problem?

They don't ship outside the US(At least that product)

Despite having multiple countries available in the address data... THEN WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THAT?! If you can't ship to other countries, why make them available in the first place?  So obviously my order has been canceled and I will be refunded (Thankfully I don't really care that much about the set). But why they didn't cancel it when I made my order?! ? If they can't send the order to my country, they should cancel it right away, not leaving it in limbo like that and keeping my money...God damn...

Because I´m addicted love their Jurassic World stuff, if not...

So international buyers, if you want to get yours hands on future Mattel Creations exclusive Jurassic World sets...ask someone in the US. DO NOT buy directly from them.

PD: I dont like that Carno, the stripes should be red, not light orange. And it´s tiny! The Carnotaurus in the trailer was the same size as the Allosaurus! Are we sure this is not part of the basic line?

avatar_MLMjp @MLMjp Could be. Or a retooled Sound Surge figure. Or a juvenile like the title of the video. Too early to know what the deal is with it though.

Also found a leak of Moros and Therizinosaurus snap squads in my hunt for whatever the source of this Carnotaurus pic came from. Hope to see the Pyroraptor and Giganotosaurus of these someday. Glad they are still doing the snap squads too. I love these little things.

Edit: Atrociraptor Ghost Ferocious Pack:

At least the lack of paint budget on this one is justified/accurate I guess (being $7 or so too helps)?

Also that new spinosaur is um definitely giving me Ark vibes for better or worse.

Jesus Christ! I was legitimately startled when I saw that pic.

I like the Moros Snap Squad, more than the mainline figure.

Hm, the Pyroraptor looks to have the appropriate feathers, so maybe some of the other Pyroraptor figures will as well.
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

looks Apatosaurus sized? maybe a bit chunkier?  I'm already seeing people complaining though " oh look another large sauropod to take up shelf space.."  really? are we at that point already?  it too how many years to get a big sauropod toy now we will have three.  i need a better look to see if i'll like it but i'm betting so.  The basic rule of collecting applies here again, if you don't like it, don't buy it.

It's definitely got to be the Dreadnoughtus. Coloration and shape of the head matches up. Neck seems a bit short though. Definitely surprised and eager to get this one. By the way the original pic on glassengine's instagram account was removed just a minute or so after I saw it. Smh.

I rarely buy large figures, like the CollectA Pterosaurs, but I make an exception for large sauropod action figures. Because as you say, we've been waiting years for these kinds of toys. Not since the days of Tyco and Playskool have we gotten toys like these. I love them and I support their continued production.

Also, that sauropod brings to mind Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend.

I recall we are supposed to get one from what was said before about releases?  Yeah the neck is pretty short and fat, not entirely a bad thing but I need a side view, to see if it's close enough.   As Gwangi pointed out it also has and interestingly wide head..reminds me of a juvenile animal with those features?  Also perhaps the design changed from that first look we had in the promo?

I bought the CollectA pterosaurs as they are so close to life scale. I'm probably not getting that new one this year because it's smaller.. lol I totally agree, the DR Brontosaurus and Playskool Ultrasaurus were staples of my childhood, I recently just found an Ultra with box and it's sent me on another nostalgia kick.. lol

If it looks so much like that in official pics I may need to do a custom paint version for BABY.  Love that film.. "No Problem! "
