Thanks! I already have something big in store for #100. ;)

Here's Patryx's review of one of the most anticipated toys of 2016: the Papo Feathered Velociraptor:

Fyi, you misspelt his name. It's Patrx.

suspsy

Oops! I'll change it later today.

Thanks, suspsy! And thanks, TQ :D

That's a great review Patrx. You definitely noticed some thing I probably would have looked over. I'm glad you got to review it. I can't believe the feathers are attached to the wrist, looking at stock photos I was sure they at least got that much right. All well, baby steps I guess.

Thank you! I don't write many reviews, but I do try to make them worth reading.

Right? That's the first thing I checked when it arrived. I was just a little crestfallen; the promo shots looked so promising in that regard.

At first I was like "but they are connected to the second finger, why do you say they are attached to the wrist?" :o
But then I realized, the base of the feathers starts at the wrist.

Well...Since they are still connected to the second finger at least give the illusion of proper wing feathers......And it covers the hands, unlike others like carnegie or favorite. :P

It's as though even when they're trying to get it right, they still get it wrong. And now that I've seen it, I can't unsee it.

suspsy

Nevertheless, it's still a definite step in the right direction for Papo.

Yeah, they look okay at a glance, but like Gwangi said, once you see it, it can't be unseen.
For those who are curious, I often refer to this exhaustive guide to dinosaur wings by Elijah Shandseight. It contains lots of diagrams and external references and has undergone several reworkings to maintain accuracy.

Great review! I always love when reviews have an educational component and get into finer details like yours did. Like many others I hadn't realized just from online photos that Papo hadn't got the feathers quite right, but they do look pretty good from most angles. It's definitely a step towards the right direction.

I agree, that's what made me fall in love with the DTB to begin with. Toys dinosaur reviews that address accuracy? I was hooked! It's something I strive for with my own reviews, not sure how successful I am (I'm not an expert) but I think it's a major part of what makes the DTB so unique.

Thanks! That's one of my favorite elements of the blog, too - I've learned a lot about dinosaurs just by reading reviews.

Another one of the most anticipated dinosaur toys of 2016: the CollectA Deluxe Beishanlong! What a beauty!

In the Beishanlong review, under picture n.6, there is: "With its close relative Pelecanimimus by Kaiyodo".
But that Pelecanimimus figure was made by Favorite, not Kaiyodo:

Here is this week's fifth review. That . . . is about the nicest thing I can say about it:
