Quote from: Faelrin on September 07, 2022, 11:25:28 PMAlso completely unrelated but this werewolf figure caught my eye when I went to deal with those things on BBTS. Totally pre-ordered it, even if circumstances could be different by the estimate shipping date. But that's what I like about BBTS. I can worry about it later.

Not to go OT, but that's a cool one. You collect werewolves as well?

avatar_Blade-of-the-Moon @Blade-of-the-Moon Only have the Safari Ltd figure, and the Neca American Werewolf one I got earlier this year, so certainly not as many as dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals (though this hobby's options probably vastly outweigh what's all out there for werewolves), but they are easily my favorite fantasy or horror creatures other then dragons I guess. Been a fan since I was a kid, and that was because of my dad introducing me to the Universal Monsters from back in his day. Maybe watching the Monster Squad as a kid too. Anyways definitely hope I can get my hands on this one too. I'm also way behind on the Creature Replicas Louisiana Rougarou, that I've known about for years now, and probably whatever else. There was also some really cool werewolf figures (Jungle Howl and Snowfield Slaughter) on BBTS, which appear to be in stock now, and some 1/12 giant wolves from D20studio which may work well as werewolves too (or giant wolf mounts). About the same scale and price range as this new one (the wolves go for a bit more however). Though I feel like the new Fury Planet one is a bit more justifiable in price considering all the accessories it comes with (and practically a second body to work with). Still looks cool however.

Edit: Good idea moving this and making it its own thread.

Here's some pics I took a while back (I'll add them here proper tomorrow):

I took more but I'll need to dig for those later.

I have a few. I've sold off a few of the more "toy" ones in favor of higher end ones.  I'll have to get some pics.

Currently I have the Neca Wolfman, Neca AWiL, SOTA Dog Soldiers werewolf, Doctor Who Werewolf, The Howling Statue, one of Stan Winston Lycans, forget his name but the more wolfy looking one.  I did order the Jungle Howl werewolf from BBTS, sadly it's not nearly as detailed as the promo pics lead me to believe. The Fury Planet one does look pretty cool. I used play White Wolf's Werewolf:The Apocalypse back in high school, it's actually where my handle Blade-of-the-Moon came from. It reminds me a lot of some characters from that.

Did you hear about Mcfarlane's Dragons coming back? Was a surprise to me to see a new figure/statue up for preorder.

Yeah I saw that too. Also know they did some Skyrim Alduin figures a bit back. And while they aren't dragons per se, I know they have the license to make some Avatar figures for the upcoming film which will be awesome. Showed one of them at SDCC this year. Blew me away.

And wow that's quite the collection. Dog Soldiers is one of my favorite werewolf films. Missed out on the figure but I remember seeing it a while back, and it looked good. Also familiar with all of those except the Stan Winston one. Guess I'll have to do some research on it.

Too bad to see that the Jungle Howl one wasn't so detailed as the prototype pics were, especially considering the price point on it. I'll have to check out some reviews. Hoping to do that for the one I pre-ordered as well prior to it going out. Did that for the Neca one, and glad it is even better in hand. They did such a fantastic job with its sculpt work. Granted I also watched reviews on it because I was anticipating it quite a bit. I wanted an action figure of that beast for so many years, so I'm glad they delivered on it.

One quickie for now (with my girl Spaz chilling with the Neca figure from a while back before I put that table in storage. I have another with her sleeping on it, on my bed, in early August):

Edit: By the way she is an adult in both pics there, and she is a small cat, lol.

Edit 2: Oh dang did not realize the Jungle Howl figure was on the small side too. Saw the thumbnail of this video which had a nice side by side comparison with the Neca AWoL figure.

Ive a big pvc statue of Alduin from the game release a friend gave to me, pretty sweet looking.

Here you go :

I was quite disappointed I spent that much on it, felt like more of a 45-50.00 figure.

lol I have to open mine at some point, I want to do a meetup pic with him, Bronx from Gargoyles and the terror dog from ghostbusters.

Faelrin

Oh snap I do remember seeing those from a while back. Couldn't remember who made them though. Thanks. I might have to hunt for those some day.

And I remember that statue as well. Missed out on the pre-order for it. But speaking of Skyrim and werewolves though, I play them a lot there. Would totally love a figure of it for my collection.

Also yeah saw a review which showed it had a warped jaw and no real packaging protection. Paint looks like it could be better for the price too. A real shame. I would have liked to get it, but I think it is a pass for me at that current price.

On the other hand here's a review of the Fury Planet croc character:

Looks pretty good quality wise (and again all those accessories and body parts help sweeten the deal). Gives me hope the wolf one will turn out just as satisfying then.

Oh yes I'm waiting for that croc, it will make a realistic Leatherhead for my TNMT collection, i try to get the realistic figures.
Furay planet will then make a Leo and a Splinter, but I hope they make a Rocksteady and Bibop after that ^^

Quote from: Blade-of-the-Moon on December 02, 2022, 05:58:45 PMMcfarlane is continuing their DRAGONS line with a new release for the Berserker Clan : https://smile.amazon.com/McFarlane-Toys-McFarlanes-Dragons-Berserker/dp/B0BN4VMZYB/ref=sr_1_1?crid=5OCGRGIV6FWV&keywords=McFarlane%27s+Dragons+Series+8+Sybaris&qid=1670003720&sprefix=mcfarlane%27s+dragons+series+8+sybaris%2Caps%2C260&sr=8-1

I was super excited about this dragon after seeing the teaser photo while back on McFarlane's social media... and then I saw the final product photos. I can't believe how abysmal the final paintjob is. What happened to paint on claws and gums or all the washes to bring out the details? It looks like a bootleg!
Teaser and stock photo of prototypes

The final product

And this isn't even the first dragon they're realesing this year, it's the second. The first one - The Eternal Dragon - has been out for around a month now, and the final product matched the prototype quite well. So what happened here?

Faelrin

That looks like a cost cutting measure to me. It's the same thing happening to many of the Mattel figures, etc. Odd to see something like that on a more collector oriented figure though, versus a child's toy line.

Blade-of-the-Moon

hmm it doesn't release for a bit, are we sure that's definitely the final product?

normally there is some simplification of paint no matter what. also the staged lighting in the first pic.  Mcfarlane used to show off these stunning maquettes then the figures were smaller and slightly less detailed.  i ordered from amazon so easily returnable if really bad.

Faelrin

New bear figure popped up on BBTS that caught my eye. Kind of works as a werebear I guess? Could also be a spin on the Old Norse Berserker too I guess. Interesting idea either way. Brand is Memory Toys. New brand maybe? Over 9 inches tall/23cm. Kind of feels like the Furay Planet figures are more bang for the buck though with all the accessories they come with (slightly cheaper as well), although the sculpt work on these also appeal to me. These are also slightly larger then those figures. The polar version looks to have translucent accessories, while the brown one looks to have more matte accessories, otherwise the same things.

There's also this brown version releasing much sooner (1st Quarter 2023):
https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/195987

They also have some anthro gorilla figures in various different modern day outfits, if that's ones kind of thing. There's some reviews already out there on some of those gorilla figures. I'll probably check them out to get an idea of the quality, but like I said earlier, I think the Furay Planet is more bang for the buck.

Blade-of-the-Moon

I saw the post as well in my email. It's interesting. I recall the were-bears, the Gurahl from Werewolf the Apocalypse were huge. These don't seem..imposing?  I guess?  They also seem kind of animated?  I've never heard of the company either.

I like the Furay ones more to be honest. If there was a naturalist Black Bear that would be pretty cool. We have them around us so would be more interesting to me.

Faelrin

avatar_Blade-of-the-Moon @Blade-of-the-Moon Now that you mention it, yeah they do have a sort of animated look to them. Paint apps look kind of simple to for the price. I do find the design a bit more appealing then the Skyrim werebear though. I get the intent was to have them monsterous, but I sort of like the more natural bear look to the faces these have. Never did play that game, but a quick search in my browser and I see what you mean about imposing. That's like Arctotherium angustidens big, maybe.

I was also thinking a black bear version would be nice too. Got them in my state as well, though only ever seen them at the local zoo.

Received mine from Amazon yesterday morning, the paint apps are missing and could do with a good wash or two. Unfortunately it went straight back to UPS because they crammed it in a box that was too small and destroyed the packaging.
