It's am army of argentinosaurs.

Hopefully it's just the camera/work in progress cause those purple ones glimpsed does not look much like the beautiful prototype.

I agree. The prototype images suggests a more vibrant purple, with all the colours subtlely blended. Looks too much like 130 (mottled brown) now based on the new sneak peak.

I was under the impression these would be fully massive like other figures.

Now there is a large very heavy figure with possible points of failure over time, the missing pieces are likely solid inserts. You can see the lower jaw is also missing on some figures, it makes sense making that part an insert on a open mouth figure.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Man I really wanted the prototype purple one. Hope we get to see some actual production shots.

Joliezac

Yeah at this point I'm all confused with the colors. Every photo has them looking different. I liked the purple one's coloration on the beach. Now I genuinely can't tell the difference between it and the brown version. I guess I will have to wait and see what it looks like when it arrives?

I had actually asked Lana Time Shop shortly after the pre-order of Argentinosaurus opened if the figure would be solid PVC and they had confirmed this. What we have seen in this video does not only raise concerns about the long-term stability but also about visible seam lines whose absence was a hallmark of previous Haolonggood sauropod figures because they were solid figures. We had also seen videos of the production of Alamosaurus and Mamenchisaurus which clearly demonstrated that these figures were molded in one piece. I have written again to Lana Time Shop now and asked for clarification.

You're asking the wrong person. LanaTime is just a retailer. I'm pretty sure they know just as much about the figure as we do.

Given that they run the full show of the exclusive pre-order of this figure, they should be able to provide such information. In the case of resin models from various paleoart studios they were always able to swiftly get in contact with them and obtain answers to my questions.

All the beach photos are by a decent camera, but in full sunlight not what it will look like on a shelf. There has been a flurry of bad lighting and photos, the ones that seem to be from outside the factory in a parking lot appears to have natural light and by a decent camera(phone), so what I expect, now hope, for the end product is this

Rayeknor

Lana is a shop with info from the producer only, the ones with the real information as they are the producer is Haolonggood.

thomasw100

It is true that many promotional and also in hand pictures of Haolonggood sauropods look brighter than the figures look in natural light on the shelf. For example, the brown Mamenchisaurus that I did get as well looked almost silvery white in some picture, but in hand in normal daylight it is really darker brown. So I would also expect the Argntinosaurus to look a bit darker than some pictures would suggest.

Even then the carpark footage of 001 is an acceptable degree of variance from the beach images. The purple hue is noteably more washed out in the most recent video, with the mottling/spots being far more prominent than before. The orange dorsal highlight also feels more heavily applied here than the promo pics.

Again hopefully this is just due to poor lighting and/or missing paint steps. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

I am coming back to the discussion of what we could see in the latest Haolonggood video. Lana Time Shop has now come back to me on the question whether the Argentinosaurus would be solid and in one piece. Here is what they have written:

"We have also confirmed this matter with Haolonggood, and they stated that the Argentinosaurus is solid, as shown in the video. Some gaps you see are due to the injection molding process; if there are no gaps, it can cause air lines that affect the appearance. So, the gaps are quite small, and the entire model is basically solid. Due to its large size, it is very difficult to produce it as a single piece, so it can only be manufactured in the current form, which consists of three parts: the head, body, and tail. The assembled effect, as shown in the image, means that the gaps are not as noticeable. The weight provided by Haolonggood refers to the Argentinosaurus packing weight, not the model weight. We have verified that the Argentinosaurus weight is approximately 5 kg."

They have also provide three more pictures which I include below. These images show that they have managed well to conceal the seams between the 3 different parts.

The quality of the Haolonggood Argentinosaurus is very impressive.  I'd love to have one if it was a species I was interested in.  I think it ties with the Haolonggood Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Mamenchisaurus and Carcharodontosaurus as the best Haolonggood figure!  I think the Argentinosaurus might end up getting first place in our top 10 figures of 2024 poll!  I'm confident the number one place will go to a Haolonggood figure, based on what has been revealed so far.

One day we will know the truth about Spinosaurus... but not today.

129 looking nicer and nicer by the day. I love the white wash that picks out the scale detail.

T @thomasw100 thanks for asking as well! The seams are barely noticeably, which is a great thing! Hopefully the jaw seam will be hidden as well as it's a separate piece.

Thank you for your nice words, I had a very practical reason for asking Lana Time Shop. This figure is a substantial investment and the worst case scenario would be some unpleasant surprises upon arrival. The drawback of the pre-order system is that we do not have the level of information we do have when a figure becomes available for order when it is released. In the latter case we usually have high quality video reviews available within less than 2 weeks. I can understand though why Haolonggood does the pre-order for such large figures. It gives them a much better estimate on the quantity they should produce for the first batch.

Interesting thing is that the Apatosaurus released last year was apparently also molded together from three parts, as you can see when you do a close inspection. But the much larger Mamenchisaurus and Alamosaurus were molded as one single piece as there is not even the slightest trace of a seam line. So Haolonggood must have invested into larger molding machines in the meantime. I suspect that the Argentinosaurus is so large that it would not have fitted even into these larger machines. But Brachiosaurus (or Giraffatitan) would be of approximately the same size as Alamosaurus, so we can probably expect this to be one piece again.

I fully agree with you and have been thinking of changing from the brown to this one as well.
