Stranger things have certainly happened. Look at PNSO, they seemed to disappear for years and now they're one of the premier model production companies on the market.

Unlikely I'd say. Cheung Chung Tat has moved to the UK now I believe. And his business partner deals more with real fossils than reconstruction work.

Quote from: Flaffy on November 02, 2024, 12:51:15 AMWe have Rebor to (partially) thank for these Vitae prototypes never seeing the light of day. ::) Every time I'm tempted to get a Rebor model, I'm reminded of their piss poor behaviour.

I was not aware of this story that led to the destruction of Vitae. So many interesting figures, even quite many marine creatures.

From what I read the motivation for Rebor to destroy Vitae was not even competition. Vitae produced accurate dinosaur figures while Rebor largely produces movie monsters.

The motivation was apparently that the Rebor guy wanted to take revenge on that factory owner. And he would be ready for any collateral damage he would cause.

This is the mindset of gangs and organized crime. When they blow up some shop they do not care if this kills or injures people in that shop that have nothing to do with their revenge.

It's even more upsetting to think that Rebor would have set about sabotaging Eofauna as well if they hadn't done what they wanted them to. Even if we fully accept Rebor's claim that the factory in question did them wrong, it didn't make it right for them to ruin Vitae's standing with stores, thus spelling their demise. I'm obviously no fan of Rebor, never have been, and never will be, but I've never emailed ED or Dan's Dinosaurs or MiniZoo and asked them to stop stocking Rebor products because they behave badly. That's just not cricket.

A common denominator with such characters is that they lack a sense of remorse and typically find some excuse to justify their behavior.  The loss of Vitae for the collecting community is a real one. But, to my way of thinking, Rebor itself is becoming a sort of collateral damage, due to its own dysfunctional mindset.
