49 three star votes on my recent Mapusaurus review. Seems like a suspicious amount of votes in a short amount of time.

Probably, it's annoying, and getting out of hand. As long as the votes are open to guests we will continue to suffer from this.

So, what do people think about my suggested solution of restricting votes to people with DinoToyBlog accounts? At the moment this is only Reviewers, which is a relatively small and restricted group, but if we allow Supporters to have DinoToyBlog accounts, that would generate a healthy pool of meaningful and trustworthy votes. It would also be an added perk for Supporters. This will also allow Supporters to view the blog, and not just the forum, ad free (when logged in).

I think this is a practical way forward.

I don't like restricting it to just people with DTF/DTB accounts. I am sure there are LOTS of people who visit the blogs who have no connection to the forums, and if they see their votes aren't counting it could, maybe, discourage them from future visits.

Is voting really that big of a draw you think? I don't think it is, or should be. I wouldn't mind seeing the feature go away entirely, to be honest.

yeah that's the other option. When the voting first started I didn't even participate for the longest time.

It would be my preference to keep voting open to everyone, of course, but this is being abused. So long as it is open to guests, it is also open to bots and spammers. I can't manually manage thousands of votes. So, I think restricting it somehow is the only practical solution that allows us to keep the star ratings feature. I don't want to lose it, I like it.

Guest Reviewers could also be granted access.

I don't think anyone will be too upset it they can't vote.
