I don't mean to annoy anyone by saying this, I would like the CollectA sea scorpion to not be in the new banner as it would bother me to constantly see an act of predation.

It's a toy. Get over it.

I'm not sure what I'm being told to get over, but I don't believe I can tolerate seeing the figure often.  Maybe it's my autism...

Well, it's not like anyone would be mandating you to gaze at the banner for any length of time. You can just scroll right past it. Predation has always been a regular depiction in paleoart, and in modern wildlife art for that matter. Not to mention in documentaries and museum displays. And it's not like the Jaekelopterus is brutally disembowelling its prey; it's just gripping it in its claw. Heck, the fish could even end up being obscured by one of the letters in the banner.

Bottom line: we get tons of dinosaur toys every single year, but how many invertebrate toys do get? If any toy deserves to be on the banner, it is that sea scorpion.

I think the Jaekelopterus should be in the banner. Sea scorpions have been in high demand for a long time and prehistoric invertebrates are few and far between. It's not like it is a graphic act of predation. Hell, maybe the fish escapes, use your imagination. We've had dinosaur corpses in the banner in years past, guts and all.

Sim

I wasn't a member of the forum when a dinosaur corpse was in the banner, and a corpse has only been in the banner for one year if I'm not mistaken.  If I had been a member then, I would have been opposed to a corpse being in the banner.  I can't imagine the fish escaping.

You could easily make the point without being rude. Please don't be rude. C:-)

I mean, paleontology is the study of dead things. All these animals that you adore are dead. Not even just dead, but extinct. We only know that they exist because of their dead remains and many of them died horrific deaths, including in acts of predation. One of your favorite dinosaurs, Velociraptor, was preserved in combat with another dinosaur and they both died fighting each other. It would not have been pretty. I know you know that. I can understand not wanting to see actual acts of predation occur but this is a toy clutching a toy. Maybe seeing this simple depiction of predation will prove therapeutic in the long run for you. And also, maybe the fish DID escape, stranger things have happened. Or, maybe the fish was already dead, and it is being scavenged. Or, maybe the fish can be hidden behind a letter.

Debating if I'd like to nominate the digitally sculpted Papo figures since they have not "proved" themselves on the scene yet. We still have no solid release date for the 2024 Suchomimus afterall, and prototypes often change upon final release.

While it was probably intended as an act of predation, I like to headcanon it that it's just holding its adorable little fish buddy and taking them for a ride somewhere. It's just more fun to me that way.

I'd like it present, not just because invertebrates are seldomly produced on the market (though CollectA has contributed a great lot in recent years), it also features a jawless fish, something also rarely produced on the toy market.

As far as any other figures on the banner goes, I'd love to see the:

-Eofauna Columbian mammoth
-Haolonggood Argentinosaurus
-Papo Suchomimus and/or Edmontosaurus
-Cyberzoic (or BotM) Allosaurus
-Mattel Jakapil or Hypsilophodon (for smaller ornithischian representation)
- PNSO Lokiceratops

and keep the long running Colorata cephalopod lol.

Edit: Also Safari Austroraptor or Megalosaurus.

I'd be happy to see any of these up on the new banner: Haolonggood Argentinosaurus, Haolonggood Triceratops, Papo Suchomimus, Mattel HC Giganotosaurus, Botm Utahraptor, Botm Allosaurus, Collecta Jaekelopterus, Safari Megalosaurus, Eofauna Anklyosaurus.

I'm a newer member of the forum, so this comment might not have much weight. But I think including the Jaekelopterus is not worth the pain Sim says it would cause him. There are a lot of nice figures, and it would be easy to honor his request. When I think about what's worth more to me--showing off an image of a cool figure, or making a fellow collector feel welcome in a place he can truly be himself--I would choose the latter.
