I like to think of my collection as being a combination of both classic and local fossils, so specimens from PA have been a focus of mine.

Reptile
Sphodrosaurus pennsylvanicus (Cast)
Triassic
Hammer Creek Formation
Bowmansville, PA

Although it's a cast, this is a special piece in my collection. Sphodrosaurus pennsylvanicus is the only fossil that's been found so far from the Triassic of Lancaster County, PA. My local museum has the original and displays a cast in their fossil exhibit, which I got to visit often growing up. This cast in particular was made by a longtime preparator at the North Museum. Recently, it was reclassified as a doswellid, and it probably resembled the related Proterochampsa.

Thank you. I have found that choosing which fossils to add to my collection, and which to display, is almost an art in itself.
Very true ! There must be a kind of consistency in a fossil collection, and it could become tempting to collect any pieces that fall in your hands.
You have a great collection anyway (with a special mention for your amazing trilobites !).
On my end, I have started with bivalves, brachiopods and ammonites (collected during a fossil hunting in Northern France a few years ago), but I'm now much more interested in collecting Meg & theropod teeth.
The thing is that due to a lack of additional space, I had to store them in a shoe box until I find an appropriate display case  :(

I wanted to provide you with a quick insight into my collection (2 pictures) but I can't find where to click to upload a JPEG file directly from my computer, without inserting the URL :-[

avatar_Protopatch @CharlieNovember Nice shark teeth. I've collected at the Calvert Cliffs in Maryland, where megalodon have been found, but haven't had much luck in terms of teeth. I found plenty of fossil shells, though.

In all modesty but thanks 😅
And true, fossil hunting is a fairly random activity, kinda lottery...
I had the opportunity to attend a great conference about paleo art and scientific illustrations this week.
One of the panelists, a scientific illustrator, highlighted the fact that fossils are crucial for paleontology as they are the primary basis for their drawings, which are themselves an inspiration for the dino figures makers.
Anyway, I look forward to seeing more of your amazing pieces !
