QuoteAn important update for our American customers 🇺🇸 with regards to parcels sent from Everything Dinosaur to the USA.
We have received the following information:
U.S. Postal Service (USPS) have confirmed that the de minimis withdrawal on the postal channel from 2nd May applies only to goods sent directly FROM China and Hong Kong.
What this means:
A postal shipment sent from the UK (even if the goods are made in China) will be treated as a UK export and remain eligible for de minimis clearance into the USA.

Good news from Everything Dinosaur!!!!

(EDIT, avatar_Blade-of-the-Moon @Blade-of-the-Moon beat me to it!)

This means that MiniZoo, Everything Dinosaur, and the likes can be used by US customers to circumvent the tariffs on some Chinese goods. I'm relieved but I guess I did panic buy for nothing. Oh well... I'm excited for the Haolonggood rex!

I hope that's right! I get my CollectA from Minizoo. Hoping HHT continues to get Papo regularly, but I can use Minizoo for everything if need be.

So happy to hear this!! I get my Papo, Eofauna, and sometimes Rebor from Everything Dinosaur. Glad to hear this won't affect Minizoo either. I get my CollectA & Mojo from them.

I ordered a bunch of Mojo 2025 direct from England last week to beat the clock on the May 2 deadline. Oh well LOL.

Where did you order from? I want the new birds but I've only seem them on their website but they don't ship to the US

wow that's great news for US based buyers.  Hope it doesn't change in a week, or a day...

Since the deminimus is still in place that should mean no tariffs on items not sent from HK or China unless over $800 of course.

He is eliminating de minimus for ONLY China and HK. So sadly there will be tariffs in effect for them still.

Oh thanks I didn't know they had one! I'll just wait for Minizoo to get them in stock since they're cheaper there.

Right, but Chinese made figures shipped from any other country will not face tariffs when the come into the US unless over $800 value since deminimus is still in place for everyone else.  So people should not buy from China/HK directly but from etailers outside of China/HK and also outside of the USA (since tariffs WILL have been charged on those when imported, albeit on the wholesale price.

Since this is sort of the opposite of what the tariffs are supposed to be doing ie bringing work back to the USA, then i suspect there will be another change in the rules once they realize this loophole.

Some important news for prehistoric animal model collectors in America. 🇺🇸
Hong Kong Postal Service Stops Shipments to the USA 📦
We note that the postal service of Hong Kong has announced a suspension of shipments to the United States in response to upcoming increases in tariffs on goods from the region.
This decision follows the expiration of the de minimis exemption, which allows items from China/Hong Kong valued at $800 or less to enter the United States without duty.  The de minimis exemption is set to end on May 2nd.
Hong kong Post stated that it "will definitely not collect any so-called tariffs on behalf of the U.S.," describing the tariffs as "unreasonable and bullying acts."
With immediate effect, the service will halt sea shipments, and air mail will be suspended from April 27th. Senders have been cautioned about "exorbitant and unreasonable fees" associated with the changes.
We at Everything Dinosaur are struggling to keep up with all the tariff changes. However, a document published by the U.S. Federal Government outlines the latest tariff on Chinese 🇨🇳 parcels as:
Duty of 120% value of the goods (ad valorem duty).
From May 2nd duty per item from China/Hong Kong in a parcel $100 USD.
From June 1st this duty rises to $200 USD.
Parcels sent from Hong Kong and China are going to be subject to extremely high tariffs.
As far as we are able to work out (and we are doing a lot of work in the background about this), our parcels sent from the UK will be unaffected.
However, we thought it best to publish this information as part of our general support for the dinosaur model collecting community.

Since the tariffs went into effect I've ordered things from Canada and China (including AliExpress). I haven't paid anything extra. I'm not sure who's eating them.

I start to believe that the stated purpose of these tariffs is not the true purpose if there is any purpose at all.

From StarAce Toys Ltd.  :

"   Important Notice for Our U.S. Customers 🇺🇸
Small parcel shipments from China and Hong Kong to the United States may be subject to import duties or tariffs, depending on the order value and item type. These fees are set by U.S. Customs and are the responsibility of the recipient.

Good News!
To help you save on these charges, we will arrange all the US shipments directly from our Bangladesh factory, which may waive or significantly reduce tariffs on eligible orders.

The shipping charges will keep the same, but the delivery time may take a bit longer around 4~6 weeks for the U.S. shipment. We hope this will be an advantage to our U.S. Customers and thank you for your support all the time.  "

I am sorry but in another thread (Haolonggood New for 2025) people are getting personally at each other, bordering on insults, and also people have been much more explicit with political comments even in this thread.

The original post to which I commented stated "Since this is sort of the opposite of what the tariffs are supposed to be doing ie bringing work back to the USA". This is not less political than what I have said, and yet the original poster does not get a moderator comment and a police sign attached to this.

Whenever I say anything that one can with a lot of bending interpret as potentially bordering on political I receive a warning. Yet the things I mentioned above do not receive any moderator comments. And personal attacks are explicitly forbidden while political statements are only discouraged as per forum rules.

This feels like there are different standards employed here. And members who have been here for a long time seem to be treated differently.

It feels like one has to be always on the watch not to use any wrong word because moderators will pick up on this. This causes a lot of stress by now. I am considering to leave this forum because I feel that I am not welcome here.

The 'warning', and that's a mild way of putting it as it's just a gentle request really, is directed at everyone in this thread including A @andrewsaurus rex who you quoted. There is no differential treatment. Your post just happened to be the last in line when I saw the discussion was drifting into overt politics. And to be fair to me, this is the third time I've asked in this thread for members to only focus on the tariffs as they relate directly to toy collecting. If you guys followed my requests I wouldn't have to make them multiple times. :P

To your other point, if you think a rule has been broken in the Haolonggood thread, please report it. O:-)

andrewsaurus rex

I just saw that Hong Kong Post is suspending deliveries to the US.  So anyone in the US ordering Dinosaur toys/figures from there will have to choose other options, which may include couriers which have high brokerage fees connected to bringing items through US Customs.

This may not be a big deal since any items sent directly from HK will be subject to 145% tariffs and most buyers will look for 'cheaper' options which  at the moment include buying from any other countries in the world other than China, HK and quite possibly the USA.
