Quote from: Elengassen on March 03, 2025, 10:08:55 PMThis figure's being sold on Amazon here under the name Quetzalcoatlus, which it obviously isn't. I'd like some help identifying what species it represents – I have it tentatively identified as Germanodactylus, but I'm not sure whether this is the best match. I would also like to know whether anyone recognises it as a knockoff, since this brand's other figures all seem to be knockoffs of other companies'. Any help is appreciated!

I've seen this one before and I believe it's supposed to be Hamipterus since the crest points forward. It doesn't seem to be a bootleg of any specific figure since the only other photos I've seen of this sculpt have been this exact figure. I see these weird not quite knockoff but unsourceable figures fairly often.

Yes, sometimes on the Internet you stumble upon curiosities like these. No obvious knockoff, no immediately recognizable species, very interesting indeed!

Ah yes, that's a much better match. Thanks!

I looked up 'Hamipterus' and it even turns out Andy has previously reviewed this figure:

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres do you have this one? It's nice, i'm considering getting it for a repaint!

avatar_RobinGoodfellow @RobinGoodfellow showed this one in his thread a few years ago. I never pulled the trigger on it because everything else from its maker appeared to be a knockoff, so I assumed this one was too. But years later, I still have no clue what it could be knocked off from, so I might get it after all. It was similar with the Mofun Stygimoloch, which I eventually bought when I couldn't find any template it might have been stolen from.

I'm pretty sure it's a knockoff of the Tsukuda Elasmosaurus.

Ok can anyone assist with this?

I'm pretty sure it's a Dinamation piece or maybe a later Billings/The Dinosaur Company one? I almost think it's a sculpt of a body with a real prop head attached from the company? It does appear to be casted and someone bothered to give it a nice wood base and a plaque too. It looks VERY close to the early Billings Parasaur babies.

Cute ! A sphinx version of Parasaurolophus :D
I too would be keen to know the references of this little guy...

Thanks, yeah, the bodies are very similar, but the head is so much worse on mine!

You can see in this FB image from Billings it looks VERY close to the babies.

Any idea who makes this pteranodon or the value of it?

Halichoeres

I think that one is by Larami, obviously inspired by Invicta.

I'd second that - had one, way back.

Oh, I have that one too, and wondered if it needed review. Do you want to review it, or should I?

I don´t think so. The figure shown here is way bigger than the Larami Pteranodon, which is exactly as big as the Invicta one. Plus, it has the brand name stamped under its wing. I think this is simply an Invicta-inspired knockoff in a bigger scale. And yes, avatar_Funk @Funk, of course you can do a review. But do not declare it as "Larami" :)

Larami (left) and Invicta Pteranodon.

The brand´s name on the wing.

Funk

Cool, I wonder what brand to file it under, then... Is the paint on yours also very damaged?

We have an Unknown Brand section or something of a similar name.  Paint is okay with my one.

Halichoeres

Oh you're right! I (mis)remembered the Larami as being much larger than the Invicta. I don't have any other ideas for the maker of this one.
