Quote from: Sim on April 18, 2025, 10:00:46 AMIt looks good to me! :)  I'm interested in seeing the final product.  PNSO set a high bar with theirs in my opinion, but this one looks like it could top it!

I have to say hat if the final product will be close to how fine the surface texture looks on this render, I would have high hopes for the Shantungosaurus as well.

Certainly this Tarbosaurus will please many theropod enthusiasts which are not happy with the lack of lips on the PNSO Tarbosaurus.

PNSO tarbosaurus looks distorted somehow. The body & head.

Shoulder girdle is place too high up and his skull is based on a plaster reconstruction from a museum mount. That said skull was made 70 years ago so it ain't the best reference.

Really hope they touch up that tarbosaurus, and if not I really hope some other company will do it's justice. Here's a nice comparison of Tarbosaurus head widthIMG_20250428_154627_683.jpg

Sim

Does this mean Tarbosaurus had a stronger bite than Tyrannosaurus?  At least when they were at the same size, Tyrannosaurus growing bigger might have given it a stronger bite in the same way that the strongest bite force today is the saltwater crocodile's, even though alligators have a more robust head.

Iirc tarbosaurus has the second strongest bite out of all theropods, t rex had adaptations to allow it to bit harder. Tarbosaurus skull was a bit too rigid to achieve that pressure

Nice :D

Although...shouldn't those arms be even smaller than they already are?

Elengassen

Hey, if the arms being slightly too large is the biggest problem with this figure, I'll happily take it  ;D
Between this and the HLG Saurolophus, I'll need to make some space on my Nemegt Formation shelf  :*D
One day we will know the truth about Spinosaurus... but not today.

Turkeysaurus

I hope the figure will be worthy of 3d model.

Joliezac

Gorgeous!! I don't yet have a Tarbosaurus in my collection

Arms are good, head might be off but more pics are needed to confirm it. So far even if the head is off I'm all in on this figure. Body looks gorgeous! Now I really hope for articulated jaw and no base but we'll see how it goes, as long as it's under 50$ I'm interested

This figure is absolutely gorgeous, the only possible issue I can see is head width and if that's it then I can easily overlook it! The only question will be do I display it with my other Nemegt species or with Sinoceratops and their Shantungo in a Wangshi Group display?

Faelrin

Is it just me or are the arms too big for Tarbosaurus?

Looks really good despite the apparently long arms, I hope the price it's not too high.

Agree with you. Its kinda double chin also bothers me a bit.

PS : and its exoparia is rather discreet in comparison to the PNSO's one^^

Tarbosaurus is rumoured to have had a large wattle or pouch of skin under its throat (although this is based on an anecdotal comment from a paleontologist and no evidence has actually been presented). I suspect that's what this reconstruction was inspired by.

Trenchcoated Rebbachisaur

Really hope it turns out well, paint and texture wise. If this ends up affordable and good looking I might just get it instead of a T.rex.

I dig the wattle myself. It does give a slight varanid-esque flavor to the piece, it should be said.
