Wish they would make these larger..1/18 or so?

Looking at this makes me wonder why Mattel can't make a rex like this. This is what the HC rex should have looked like. I don't get why it doesn't

It depends on what references they are using, I can't understand why the JW Rex differs so much in design from the JP/TLW ones.  I know they have the  fan explanations, age, sickness, ect.. but none of that as I recall is specifically mentioned in the films.  Apparently, they lost the ability to recreate it from the studio archives.  Next the cg Rex and the animatronic Rex are different designs, not 100% but enough you can tell it looking side by side.  Nanmu's looks based on the animatronic, while Mattel did a weird amalgamation of several different references plus they added in the playability features for something more poesable.  Nanmu's is cool but going by the raptors will not be nearly as poseable and stable.  I didn't mean to go on and on but that's pretty much why we don't get what we really could have.

That's all true, but then you even have the Marco Makes kits which instantly transform it into a better looking one.
The Giganotosaurus was very nice and bulky, sacrificing the waist joint and double jointed knees allowed for a better figure without losing much.
This Nanmu one even looks to have a waist joint. It's really, really good looking, ugh I just want a buck rex that actually looks like THIS sculpt wise from Mattel. Nanmu wasn't working from original files, so Mattel doesn't have to either.

I was told awhile back when Nanmu first started they purchased a file pack from SWS or the school? In it was a lot of files for the creatures they made, even the Apatosaurus head/neck which is why they used the Sideshow Apato body. Since then I'm sure they have made some of their own based on that and they may even have done what Dino Dream did and buy casts of screen used items or even scanned some.  Maybe the next Rex Mattel does will be better?  They do improve all the time. The newest mainline figures make the old HC pieces look like knockoffs.

Looks like the Therizinosaurus will arrive at retailers in mid April. So not much longer to wait! Can't wait to get mine.

I find it a shame how the toes being mistakenly swapped is a widespread issue. Shouldn't really be happening given the price they're charging for these.

Blade-of-the-Moon

They also shared an AI video of the Indominus Rex last night.  Told me it was around 43 cm long.

they announced smart series Suplanter 3.0 Spino.
Wish it was not smart series so could go against the up coming w dragon.
the joint gaps will put me off most likely.

Blade-of-the-Moon

I would like if they also did a 1:18 version.

It feels like the smart series never really caught on for me but this might have to be an instant purchase. I don't know, I guess I'll have to see what's going on with tariffs once pre orders go live

Blade-of-the-Moon

I'll get one, I'm hoping it scales with their existing figures to help create dioramas.

When I order it will be with Lana. I feel like they will do their best to help with fees.  This one is already around 10.00 higher than the raptors.

They are the best..so far.

I noticed that Lana Time's shipping fee for the Nanmu Therizinosaurus is $12.50-----was the Therizinosaurus shipping originally free?

If the shipping was originally free, I assume the $12.50 fee is a result of the tariff negotiations, so maybe if/when the tariff issue is settled, maybe the shipping fee will be lower.

Lana said they are attempting to do this to avoid and tariff fees when the item arrives at your door. Charging the fees now prevents it they hope, but if it doesn't they will reimburse you.

I got the following email from Lana:

Hi,

Sorry to bother you, and thank you again for your order of the Nanmu Studio Therizinosaurus Claw Spike Figure.

Due to recent changes in U.S. customs policies, we've had to adjust our shipping approach. The good news is that we have secured a duty-free shipping option via Yun Express, which means you won't need to pay any additional fees upon delivery. If any fees are mistakenly charged, please contact us—we'll reimburse you.

However, shipping costs have increased. To use Yun Express, we kindly ask for an $8 shipping surcharge, which you could pay via the following link:

https://lanatime-shop.com/products/nanmutherdiffer

If you'd prefer not to pay $8 shipping surcharge, we completely understand. In that case, we can ship your figure via sea shipping to our U.S. warehouse, and from there it will be shipped to your address domestically with no extra charge. This method will take approximately 45 days.

If we don't hear from you by May 15, we will assume you agree to the sea freight option and will proceed accordingly.

Please let us know your preference at your earliest convenience.

Best regards,

Lanatime Shop"

So yes, shipping was originally free but this is their attempt to avoid the tariffs. You can opt for free freight via sea shipping as well. I only paid $8 for air shipping so I guess they raised it a bit?

jurassiclv426

yeah no shipping charges for me as not in US.
I got email from them yesterday checking shipping address so should ship in the next day or two :)
will see how it looks along side the Spino 2.0 haha

Not sure, I've had it on preorder for months, maybe that's why I got that option. You can try emailing them maybe?
