Greetings everyone! My name is Ervin and I live in qeshm island, iran. I'm 14 years old soon to be 15.

Hobbies: collecting both prehistoric and extant animal figures, Spearfishing, diving, playing beach tennis, catching and releasing critters reptiles mostly, watching movies and series, reading books, playing video games, and playing the piano.

Music genres I listen to: classical music, rock, heavy metal, jazz, blues, old pop.

Pets: ive had lots of pets in my life, but currently I have two golden retrievers named Charlie and lola, ages 9 and 7. Charlie has over 60 children with different females (the man has good genes) while lola has none, as she has a genetic disorder called dysplasia, and could get seriously hurt while giving birth, so we had to spay her to prevent accidents.

Collection: i have over 400 figures/toys and most of them are prehistoric. The main brand I collect from is collecta, because it's the only brand you can find in Iran besides schleich which is almost triple the price of collecta here, and mojo which has few figures worth getting. There used to be safari ltd, papo, and geo world everywhere when I was a kid, but for some reason you can't find them here anymore. My preferred scale is 1:35 for big Dinosaurs, 1:20 for other prehistoric animals, and 1:18 for smaller dinosaurs, but I mostly collect miniatures.

Life: i was born in tehran, and lived there till I was 9. When the pandemic hit, we moved to kish Island and after almost four years we moved to qeshm island which is where we are now. I live with my parents (duh, I'm a minor) and have no siblings. Recently, I finished translating a dinosaur book from English to Persian, and I'm currently trying to find a good publisher. I'm homeschooled, and I spend most of my time helping my parents with their beach tennis court.

Favorite animals: wolverine, hyena, komodo dragon, hippo, wild boar, jaguar, leopard seal, orca, kangaroo, otter.

Favorite dinosaurs: spinosaurus, maip, utahraptor, pachycephalosaurus, therizinosaurus, pachyrhinosaurus, styracosaurus, suchomimus, sinosauropteryx, deinocheirus

Favorite other prehistoric animals: kaprosuchus, inostrancevia, elasmosaurus, andrewsarchus, varanus priscus, daeodon, barinasuchus, fasolasuchus, nothosaurus, anurognathus.

Why I like dinosaurs: when I was a toddler, i watched barney all the time. When I grew a little bit older, my dad bought me almost all the innovative kids "groovy
Tube books" but there was one set that standed aside from the others.. "Dino might"! There was something very different about these monsters. And that's when I started to collect dinosaur figures, and later other prehistoric animals. I was about 5 when I had a play date with a friend who also liked dinosaurs. He had the full collection of wwd, with all the specials. So naturally, we watched them. Walking with dinosaurs showed dinosaurs in a different way. They weren't monsters, they were fascinating, smart, animals. And that's when my love for dinosaurs became an obsession.

My Instagram pages are avatar_Spinokaprogorgon @Spinokaprogorgon and @ervinbehbahani. If you like to see my dogs, @ervin_charlie_lola is dedicated to them.

That's all you need to know about me ;D

Torvosaurus

Hello! Welcome to the forum. I've actually always wanted to go to Iran to find an endemic fish species, namely Iranocichla hormuzensis. That would be the icing on my cake, with well over 200 cichlid species spawned in the 40 odd years I've been keeping fish. I'm afraid the tensions between Iran and the U.S. probably preclude that ever happening, however, and my health isn't going to help either. I'm currently dealing with leg weakness/paralysis, probably due to my last stroke. I'm sure I'll come through it just fine, however. I usually do! 🙂

Anyways, I'm excited to see your collection of dinosaurs once you get established on this forum! With that many models, it will be a cornucopia of fun!

Pleasantly surprised that there are figures in Iran too. Meanwhile here in the US my local stores are devoid of any scientific accurate figures haha.

What places you recommend to visit in your personal opinion? Especially for those interested in the historical areas

I haven't visited this one yet, but takhte jamshid or persepolis is pretty cool. kish also has lots of historical places like shahre harire.  One time when me and my dad were diving near shahre harire, we found a man made ancient cave under a cliff! And when we researched to find out what it was for and what was it called, we found out no one knew it existed, even archeologists that worked there. We basically discovered it :*D ! And if you're interested in geology/fossils, qeshm is the place for you. Qeshm and kish were both once huge coral reefs, so you find seashells, corals, etc literally anywhere you go, even in the city. We have the biggest salt cave of the world here, and I visited the restricted part with a trusted guide once. BEST experience of my life. Also, there is an island near qeshm named hormuz, also called island of colors. Look it up, you will Not be dissapointed

The cave is very exciting. Im very interested in Iranian Mesolithic, Neolithic, Zagrosian etc groups. Hotu cave, Ganj Dareh, Seh Gabi, Shahr-e-Sokhteh, Hasanlu.
especially interested in Iranian Paleolithic and mesolithic which to my knowledge we do not have good genetic data on. If I recall, Hotu caves were discovered in a similar way, for here's hoping your finds are prosperous:)

Hello and welcome to the forum, avatar_Spinokaprogorgon @Spinokaprogorgon ! Great to know members from Iran now, too ^-^
Followed you on Instagram, re-follow if you like!
A possible explanation for the decline in the diversity of brands is Schleichs brutal competition strategy in retail. This self-confidence is inversely proportional to the quality of their figures.
I am looking forward to hearing more of you ! Actually it´s the first time ever I personally write someone from Iran.
