I think that might have led some folks dangerously down the path of mob justice

I went from being really excited about Einiosaurus, to being really sad because it looked so (impressively) bad, to being really relieved that it was fake lol. I was about to ask if Mojo Fun bought the PNSO brand and decided to use a newly invented semi-soft model material and also gave their design team less than a week to finish this, because that's honestly what that model looks like.
Thankfully the art poster variant of that model looks a lot more acceptable, so I don't feel too bad for roasting the figure version. Or perhaps I should say un-thankfully, if this artist might decide to abuse their skill to pull more annoying pranks like this.

Not only that. These people are basically impersonating PNSO and are using company logos and the like without being legally entitled to do so.

I would say it would be time to send a cyber mob their way.

To be fair to them, they do explicitly call the Hatz a fan sculpt. If they always did that, there wouldn't have been a problem imo. Might want to put a "Fanart" watermark on the pictures themselves, but, I dunno.

Berno

Using Pterosaurs it's just too much, that kind of cruelty should not be tolerated!

I don't see how it is illegal? You can use logos freely as long as you don't profit from it and it does not spread false information which would affect the company's reputation. Unless you're saying that the sculpter is trying to actually impersonate PNSO and use that to make people buy their products, which is probably not true since it explicitly states that it is a fan sculpt and there isn't a link to a page to purchase it or something, I'm pretty sure it's ok. And I don't know how much more obvious it can be when they literally start off by saying "fan sculpt of PNSO's work". Also, even if you did believe in it somehow after falling for the first one posted by the exact same account, it doesn't affect the company's reputation and at most annoys some collectors. Playing with customers' feelings isn't exactly the basis for a lawsuit since then every single parody would be illegal because of the tiny chance someone thinks that it's real.

I don't know about that. I think this is a massive overreaction to what is increasingly looking like a fan project, which are also pretty transparently fake.

Maybe I need to explain something. I kind of play in some of my posts with on one hand stating some real opinions, but on the other hand just making slightly sarcastic and really not serious comments. Apparently not everyone understands that. Some do though.

Like the first sentence about use of logos in my post was meant serious. Because I think it is not really legal to use company logos and post on social media fake products of a company. Check for example the history of Lego or Mattel about such cases.

But the second sentence was not meant serious at all. Member Berno understood this quite well and followed up on this by the animation posted.

You can actually tell from the language I use what is meant seriously and what is not. In serious parts I use partly formal language with scientific, economic or legal technical terms. In the parts which are not meant serious you would not find such things.

No harm done. I suspected a joke but couldn't tell for sure given the very literal way you often write. I'm very glad it was supposed to be sarcasm.
Eliciting internet mob "justice", especially on innocent artists who are just being creative is something that really gets under my skin.

Have you tried right-clicking on them? They worked that way for me although it looks as if they are now deleted from that twitter/x account.

T @thomasw100: Tone is surprisingly difficult to judge from posts, especially when the reader does not personally know the writer and so have a background context of his/her mode of discourse. It's one of the pitfalls of the internet. I don't think you can take it for granted that your "tone" will come across without some flagging.

Facebook is hot on "impersonation". I'm sure appropriating a company's logo would qualify. For instance I belong to a birding group which is a local branch of the RSPB, a national body. Twice the local group has had its Facebook page taken down for impersonating the national body.

And PNSO's response on Facebook:

"Thanks to Our Community Members

Recently, members of the PNSO community alerted us that an account on social media platform X has been misusing the PNSO trademark and logo, impersonating the official PNSO account, and disseminating false information. After we confirmed the account's fraudulent nature, numerous members proactively reported the misuse, and their collective efforts resulted in the infringement being addressed. The PNSO team hereby expresses our deepest gratitude to all who provided invaluable assistance and support.

Unauthorized use of the PNSO trademark and impersonation of our official account violate both platform policies and applicable laws. We urge those responsible to act with integrity and refrain from testing legal boundaries. Be advised that we retain full legal rights to pursue action against any infringing parties.

To ensure access to accurate information, we encourage everyone to follow PNSO's verified official accounts for updates.

The PNSO team appreciates every member who has helped us in one way or another. Thank you all.

Sincerely,
DONG Wenjun

Flaffy

This could've all been avoided if the artist plastered "FAN MADE" all over the mock promotional artwork.

Made it far too convincing as an official announcement to the point where it can be considered impersonation and spreading false information. Honestly impressive, albiet misguided. Hope the artist never pulls something like this again.

I feel the urge to point out the cute baby dinosaur that PNSO put at the end of this letter:

My heart!

Ambre

Hot take but i hope they do more, the reactions were really funny (maybe they shouldnt put the pnso logo on them but still they are really cool)

Carnoking

Maybe PNSO should just hire them for some design work
