Quote from: Joliezac on May 26, 2025, 02:45:40 AMOk I was wondering what streaming service it will be on. I don't want to pay for a blueray without viewing it first to see if its something I'd watch again. I bought Prehistoric Planet 1-2 on Blueray because I've seen in multiple times. Thanks!

What's this about a Prehistoric Planet Blu-ray?

I don't think its an official release, but I got it off eBay and its a good copy of the show. I don't have Apple TV so It was worth it for me to just buy seasons 1-2

Someone on Facebook said 16 June on PBS, avatar_Joliezac @Joliezac.  I can't vouch for his accuracy but he's someone whose name I recognise from dino/modelling world.

Quote from: Joliezac on May 26, 2025, 12:36:42 AMDoes anyone know when it will be available or where I can watch in the US?

https://ichthyoconodon.wordpress.com/2025/05/25/wwd-2025-review/

No offense meant, but I'm guessing you're new to the online dino/paleo community. Carlos Miguel Albuquerque (AKA Falconfly/Gwawinapterus/Ichthyoconodon/Johnfaa) is an infamously bad source. Below is pretty much everything you need to know about him:

-1/31/13 ( https://www.deviantart.com/jd-man/journal/SD-Good-semi-good-and-bad-dino-sources-1-351589315 ): There are 3 main reasons why both he & Dr. Pterosaur/Doug Dobney ("Pterosaurs to Modern Birds") are bad sources of dino (or any other) info: 1) They're non-experts who act like they're experts; 2) They're infamous for trolling/cyberbullying ( https://www.deviantart.com/kajm/journal/Multiply-banned-Hatethiest-johnfaa-remanifests-335722111 ) ( https://web.archive.org/web/20111017125923/https://sandwalk.blogspot.com/2011/09/new-moderation-policy-doug-dobney-is.html ) people who don't think like them; 3) They're terrible at sourcing their work, never doing so unless it proves their point (They'll ignore any source that contradicts them).

-6/3/19 ( https://www.deviantart.com/jd-man/journal/SD-Good-Semi-good-and-Bad-Dino-Sources-4-800236863 ): Apparently, I didn't say enough. My bad. For 1, his real name is Carlos Miguel Albuquerque & he has since moved his "Gwawinapterus | Prehistoric esoterism" content to "Ichthyoconodon – Prehistoric esoterism". For another, he's since been permabanned from both Wikipedia (as Falconfly: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia%3AAdministrators%27_noticeboard%2FIncidents&diff=prev&oldid=868840663&fbclid=IwAR0cqwNa_ZkFJEDHs6VF71y9sd2DRJRxraMGwLk7az_8XeGUceUnaWi6Eo4#User:Falconfly ) & the Tetrapod Zoology group (See the Naish quote).

Quoting Naish:
QuoteHi everyone. A load of drama has happened in my few days of absence from this group. I can't make any sense of what's happened nor do I understand what the source of argument is. But one person here has been accused of bullying, of sending vindictive personal messages, and of displaying an attitude that is very contrary to the group-minded, co-operative discussions I most want to see here. I have therefore decided to remove that person from the group and I would advise other parties involved not to engage further via DM or whatever.

Your use of Kajm, a known right-wing conservative, as "evidence" as to why I'm supposedly bad says it all. The rest is honestly too petty and idiotic; check my articles, they usually link to sources

Trenchcoated Rebbachisaur

That kajm person is... Something else. Damn. Good riddance to their DA account.
I remember Ichthyoconodon being somewhat infamous for fringe theories and being very confidently dubiously correct in other forums I used to frequent, funky to know some things apparently never change.
And uh, hello Mister Albuquerque, if that is indeed you.

Hello to you too

The only fringe theory I advocated was flying volaticotheres. All others have come to fruition in one way or another. Probably the most successful was superprecocial enantiornitheans/pterosaurs/deinonychosaurs, which grinds the gears of HD-man, who constantly seethes about parental care in archosaurs.

As C @carliro states, you and H @HD-man are talking about them, so be careful here – the moderators are already looking at whether these personally directed posts are violating the rules, and we may decide they have. Any post that begins "No offence but" is a red flag, and these posts are certainly taking the thread off-topic (forum rule 5). So, by all means, criticise the content of the links as they relate to the topic at hand, but please don't target the person. C:-)

I wasn't able to finish the last two episodes. Wow, this was absolutely tepid.

I have to admit. I really struggled to even get through just the first episode and that took me four sittings. :||

suspsy

I just saw a clip of a battle between a T. rex and an adult Triceratops and I found it rather disappointing. Mainly because I'm very tired of the silly old trope of predators constantly roaring while in the midst of attacking their prey. And the roars sound redundant to boot.

So far, it's sounding like Prehistoric Planet has WWD 2 whipped. But I'll still check it out next month when it airs.

carliro

Yeah, a major problem in this series is that the predators never shut up, even when ambushing prey

You can find Chinese sellers on eBay who release hard to find stuff on bluray. I don't know if they were officially released there or if they're just well done copies though. You can get all sorts of movies and TV shows that way - Monarch, Mindhunter, The Rings of Power, all the recent Star Wars shows. Just look for anything obscure on bluray on eBay and you will come across these sellers.

If they are unlicensed copies then they are pretty brazen about it - just selling them openly on eBay.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Joliezac

Yeah I don't think my blueray is an official licensed one. It had Chinese writing over the cover but I was able to watch it in English no problem and it is good quality.

HD-man

1stly, here's an interview w/"series showrunner Kirsty Wilson, palaeoartist Jay Balamurugan, and science consultant and palaeontologist Prof Nizar Ibrahim":

2ndly, I'm just gonna share a few thoughts before taking a break from this thread to wait out the current storm. I've seen too many storms like this before.

QuoteThe rest is honestly too petty and idiotic

Fair enough. I was in a rush to replace a broken example link & Kajm's seemed the most relevant, so I didn't spend as much time as I should've looking into him as a source. In any case, that doesn't change the facts as told by both Wiki's Admins & Darren Naish.

That's putting it nicely. To quote Incinerox (in reference to the blog, not the person),
Spoiler
"His blog's gained a reputation among the multitude of palaeontology servers I frequent, as being a sort of bastard lovechild between those by Duane Nash and David Peters, with extra salt." Technically, I said, "No offense meant, but" ;) Also, I clearly didn't know that I was talking about a fellow forum member, just a David Peters-esque source shared by someone I thought was a newbie who didn't know better (hence why I gave them the benefit of the doubt). Don't worry, I know what you mean & I get it. That said, I would think that the warnings of both Wiki's Admins & Darren Naish would be even bigger red flags.

C:-) Please don't bring your personal animosity and history from outside the forum to bear here. We only make moderator decisions based on forum activity and on that basis I'm giving both members warnings for:

1. Getting personal (HD-man may not have known the person was a member, but was still making unnecessary personal accusations, that went beyond just the person's work) (forum rule 1).
2. Going excessively off-topic (forum rules 5).

C:-) Now you both know who the other is. Because of the unusual nature of this situation we aren't banning anyone, so long as the personal animosity stops now. You may both disagree with our decision, but given the muddy circumstances I ask you both to respect the decision so we can underline the matter and move forward. As such, I request that neither of you respond to this, please. To do so would violate rule 4. "Respect moderator requests".

OK, let's keep this thread about Walking with Dinosaurs 2025!
