Quote from: SidB on August 08, 2025, 02:20:10 PM....... the search for accuracy is a useful and necessary quest and has resulted in a history of real progress in the development of better figures over the years. Yet, at the same time, it can degenerate into mere pedantry, a dry, soulless exercise that sucks the delight out of collecting and can result ultimately in a loss of interest in the hobby. I'm convinced that more than a few people have left the community and hobby because of this perception. .......

I have been collecting for more than 50 years and I will probably never stop (and much less because of some grinchs that weren't even born when I started). But I abalienated from the forum because reading every day that people here do not care for or have zero interest in the stuff I love and collect is not what I have been coming here for throughout the last 15 years. And for the news I can go to Paleofiguras myself. It's sad but the newer DTF mentality does not overlap with mine anymore.

Same here.
110% agree.

Times change, and sometimes it seems that the delight, joy and mutual interest we had when this forum started have disappeared. But they have not, they are just harder to find these days. Leaving a forum because one feels abalienated is  a sad thing, but for me staying, contributing actively and ignoring the grinches and nitpickers unless they break the rules is still the right thing to do.

Spinokaprogorgon

QuoteWhy is the fish prey half one color and half another? Great sculpt but that's the only jarring thing to me.
That's a pteraspis. The front half is armored like a dunkleosteus, hence the color difference on each half. Although I'm not a paleontologist, I think that in real life the armor wouldn't have been externally visible and actually would have been under the skin, but that's just my opinion.
When life closes a door, open it again! It's a door that's how they work, dummies!

I'm just going to be nitpicky and mention that 'abalienate' means to transfer title of ownership... :-[
Mostly because I just learned it's a real word and wasn't sure if I was missing something...

Okay, thanks avatar_SBell @SBell ! Abalienate seems to be a false friend in translation. I meant "entfremdet" which means alienated in English  :))

That's what I thought was meant but now we've all learned a new word...not sure how useful it is!

A night-time snapshot of my latest Invicta aquisition, their unpainted Glyptodon. Definitely a relatively inconspicuous little fellow, but a nice companion for my recently acquired factory painted version. Hard to believe that it's taken 50 years to arrive at my mailbox:

Finally got the excellent PNSO Therizinosaurus added to my collection. For some reason I never truly loved how it looked in photos online, but it is such a unique species, I really needed to add it to the lineup. I was extremely impressed by how good it looks in hand. Paint is excellent, very well detailed feathers, and even the tiny head looks very nice. The claws are exceedingly sharp and stiff for a PVC toy. Gave me a chance to add a few shots of the 1/35 scale human figure I had a buddy 3-D print for me. I gave him a quick paint job, and think it turned out pretty nice.

Monkeysaurus

After nearly a year of doing back flips and somersaults to get my hands on a HLG Alamo it finally arrived in the mail today!

And here he is with the rest of the gang

When brontosaurus arrives I will have collected every HLG sauropod. Gotta use
My laptop on the floor now 🤣

Great choices! How's the HLG Rex in person? Seems to be the only one in this picture I don't have. Is that a HLG stegosaurus in the background? It seems to have black tips on its plates which mine doesn't have - is that a custom paint job?

avatar_Monkeysaurus @Monkeysaurus I'm really happy you've finally got your Haolonggood Alamosaurus!  And that's a lovely collection of sauropods you have!

Thanks! I don't dare think of cost. I have another HLG Alamo on the way - artist rendition one that was a one time paint job. That one will go with my late Cretaceous North American diorama dinner table I think. I kinda bought it on impulse when I thought this Alamo would never reach me 🫢

I think that HLG stegosaurus is artist rendition.
