I can't find any official statement about production ceasing?  :||

Faelrin

I'm late to posting this, but I found out about it from a thread on the hammond collection subreddit. I linked it here:

https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=3573.msg392220#msg392220

Based on what I can tell, it might be the case, a number of figures are disappearing from retailers with no word on them coming back into stock either (BBTS, Happy Hen Toys, etc). Best get the goods while they are still available.

Here's the current stock situation with the various tyrannosaurs (if it isn't listed from a certain retailer, it's out of stock there):

Ah, thanks. I was planning on getting the Guanlong in my next haul, and maybe the Proceratosaurus later if it was still available. I guess it seems unlikely to run out.

Are the Ceratopsians and Raptors suffering from similar issues?
Edit: Ah, the Thread seems to imply they likely would too, on an individual figure level, but molds may be reused. Oof.

Flaffy

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin Very surprised something as obscure as Bistahieversor is sold out everywhere. Guess it's a way more popular dinosaur than I thought!

I would also be surprised if David isn't considering a rerun of the Yutyrannus. It's a very poplar genus afterall, and certain flaws like the limited head articulation could be retooled. Or better yet a prime candidate for a really nice Fans Choice colour scheme; as I don't believe we've had one for the Tyrannosaur series yet(?).

Trenchcoated Rebbachisaur

I could see people going for Bistahieversor because they like the color scheme, design and affordability, because I refuse to believe it's a particularly well known genus. Idk tho maybe BOTM just has many fans in the immediate area of where it got discovered

Elengassen

It might be partly due to the fact that there are few other (good) options out there for Bistahieversor. I hesitated for a long time about whether or not I wanted it, then finally decided I did, just in time for it to then sell out everywhere. Hopefully there will be a reissue – or even better, a Cyberzoic repaint with more naturalistic colours, as the bold colour scheme is one of the reasons I hesitated for so long.
One day we will know the truth about Spinosaurus... but not today.

Faelrin

Back when I went to Legions Con in 23 I saw a lot of people that had bought it. Guarentee it was the coloration, if not the price and smaller size. I should have seen the writing on the wall then, but every figure that sold out prior had restocks.

avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy There is the Cyberzoic Yutyrannus coming out and I imagine its why the BotM has yet to see a restock.

Lythronax, Qianzhousaurus, Teratophoneus, and the juvenile T. rex are next to go out of stock everywhere, and probably out of production.

Still waiting for my Qianzhousaurus from Creative Beast to arrive (before they went out of stock there). And my green Protoceratops from minizoo, and Psittacosaurus from Aliexpress.

Amazon ad:

Noideaforaname

I have to assume the fact that the Bistahieversor makes for a passable T. rex is a big selling point. Like, if you missed out on the 1/35 Rex and don't have money/space for the bigger tyrannos, then yeah Bistah's the obvious alternative.

Faelrin

I asked him on instagram if it would get a restock or repaint in the future, but he said there's no plans for that right now. Sad, but is what it is. I guess I'll keep my eyes out for it. Really wanted that one to go with my Pentaceratops too.

I wonder if his production resources are getting stretched a little thin with all the upcoming Cyberzoic/Cenozoic/Mesozoic releases. Would make sense that these new releases are forcing him to pull the plug on these older figures, especially with repaints planned for a few of them.

That thought did come across my mind too. Especially with him taking over the PBS Eons Mammoth project. I can't imagine juggling between so many lines/projects being an easy task at all.

I wonder if we'll ever see more 1/18 small raptors / ceratopsians. Was really hoping for a Zhenyuanlong with updated proportions in that scale. Maybe they didn't sell as well as David had hoped? Or the production cost made it difficult to make a return on investment.

If it's the latter, then I certainly wouldn't mind cutting down on the number of articulation points to make a cheaper figure, and a more coherent presentation of the sculpt.

Faelrin

Yeah I wish some of the others got done like Zhenyuanlong, Acheroraptor, and Atrociraptor to go alongside some of the tyrannosaurs and ceratopsians that were contemporary. Still wish for a 1/18 Dilong as well.

I think sales could have a lot to do with that, particularly for those that might have sold poorly. I wonder if that's why the Atrociraptor and Balaur repaints have yet to surface, which were previously planned or announced.

Additionally it seems like a lot of stuff is in the pipeline already, so it could also just be too much to commit to doing any of those right now.

Bought the Gorgosaurus at G-fest. Was so surprised to see them with a booth there but in so glad as the Gorgo was one of the prettiest ones of this set.
